somewhere else, you said that Bin Laden was killed over a week ago.  Someone gave you bad info.  '"With Obama having authorized the operation, Panetta gave the order at midday Sunday for the joint special operations-military team that carried out the assault to raid the compound, the officials said." - MSN.com

You were pissed by that too?  As was i.  I mean they could've waited for like 15 minutes to let us see the ending of "Celebrity Apprentice", but instead they had to show news coverage of reporters telling us what OBama was about to say rather than just cutting directly to O'Bama the instant he is ready to make his speech.

The question now is how much credit Obama will take.  Do you think he will claim to have given the direct command or allow the competence of US special forces to shine?

I thought Bush was concealing Bin Laden's death for years.  He couldn't survive because he was on dialysis, blah, blah, blah.... We know the ritual chats of the crazy left.

Deader than a rusted door nail he is, and as they say in New York and Chicago, he sleeps now with the fishes.

The question will be how can this creep have been hiding, possibly for five years, within walking distance of the Pakistani equivalent to West Point.

And yes Obama gets the credit as the Commander and Chief and deserves it for taking the steps and making the right decisions to fulfill his campaign promise and threat to go where ever Obama was found to kill or capture him.

Like Obama or not, credit due where credit is deserved.

Obama promised to bring Bin Laden to trial that morphed into kill or capture when he finally had to put on the big boy pants and realize he was C-in-C of adults men and women willing to fight, kill and die for this country.

The assets employed to get Bin Laden had been in place for a decade.  Some of the intelligence used to get OBL came from Gitmo detainees.  Obama has been cutting assets and dollars needed in the war since his time in Congress when he consistently opposed every Bush tried.

He deserves credit for not getting in the way.

PrettyPantherposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Actually, you have your facts wrong.  Obama said the U.S. would kill bin Laden during a presidential debate, before he was elected president.  He made it a priority and did what he promised.  I know, it's really hard to swallow.  Competence matters.

"We will kill bin Laden. We will crush al Qaeda. That has to be our biggest national security priority," Obama said during the presidential debate on October 7.

              http://articles.cnn.com/2008-11-12/poli … M:POLITICS

Contrast that with George W. Bush, from a March 13, 2002, press conference:

Q: But don't you believe that the threat that bin Laden posed won't truly be eliminated until he is found either dead or alive?

BUSH: Well, as I say, we haven't heard much from him. And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don't know where he is. I -- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him.

Bush had different priorities, only 6 months after 9/11.  You can try to convince people that the altered reality that exists in your brain is real, but too many people remember. We know the difference between a man and a boy, and Obama is not a boy.

Your disrespect, at this moment in time, is appalling.

And yes, he also didn't leave God out of his remarks.

I know I said this same exact statement on another thread regarding this same topic, but I'll post it again here:

Although I think for the short term this is a great victory, as it can finally put the minds of those effected by 9/11 to rest knowing that the man responsible has been brought to some form of justice.  However, I think the bigger question that I have, and I think everyone else should be asking as well, what does this mean long term wise?  does this mean that the war on terror is over?  If so, are we going to start pulling troops out of Afghanistan and Pakistan now?  I know we can't for Iraq for obvious reasons, but what about the other two places I just mentioned?  What's going to happen now?  Now, those are the questions I really want to know, as I think the events that the O'Bama administrations makes after this bit of news will have even bigger impact on this country.

For one, they didn't want to provoke people who might become enemies of the United States. Two, they didn't want there to be a specific spot where people would know where to find his body, as there would be a possibility of his supporters enshrining him like people did at the spot where Saddam Hussein is buried. Three, no country would have accepted the body, and bringing it back to the United States would have been seen as disrespectful to many of his victims and their families.

Nonetheless, i hope the women and children directly involved with that mad man (Bin Laden that is) will find freedom and relief now that he is gone.
