No, you need to look at the progress of events, LMC. That's how these kinds of things work.

          1. Your words pissed me off. That was my fault as I, meaning me, good, ole Longhunter, let it happen.

          2. I wrote something you perceived as a smear. Again, my fault because I, again, meaning ME, allowed you to piss ME off.

          3. I apologized as I let myself drop to that level.

          4. You accept or not. That's up to you.

          5. I move on with my life. The question is, do you?

          6. It's really just that simple, LMC.

As a percentage, Bush 2004 and Obama 2008 were almost exactly the same. The total number of votes will go up as population increases.

The people who 'hate the constitution'(not how I would put it) are those who voted for Obama because of his race, or the people who want a socialist-style nanny state, or those who believe in high tax rates.

Ok, first, the percentages on those graphs where selected specifically to make the lines follow each other. You can do this with ANY two lines as long as they are both upward or downward.

Secondly, correlation is not equal to causation.

The percentage of income for the middle class has been steadily declining independent of unions.

For that graph to have any meaning, the % share of income would have to go back and be shown to be rising before the change and falling after. It's meaningless, and obviously constructed to try and show a point.

"A former congressman said he and his wife were denied the right to vote last night in their Tennessee hometown after poll workers said he had been removed from the voting rolls. Lincoln Davis, a Democrat who served two terms, leaving office in 2011, told the The Nashville Tennessean:

“We walked in and they told me I was not a registered voter. I had been taken off the list,” said Davis, who served two terms representing the fourth congressional district of Tennessee, leaving office in 2011.

“These are people who I grew up with. I told them I live here. I went to school about 20 yards away.” [...]

“It’s always been this way and today, for some reason, they change it,” he said. “I had a sense inside of uneasiness when I was told that I was not allowed to vote. They didn’t offer me a provisional ballot, or anything, just told me I wasn’t registered.”

Really? This jackass is so white he's damn near transparent but equates his voter registration being moved to the wrong county to what the black man had to go through 100 years ago?

I'm ashamed to say he's a fellow Tennessean but, he is a Dem, so I guess we'll be expected to give him a pass.

    3. American View profile image61
American Viewposted 13 years agoin reply to this

No LMC, it is not un-American, it is the rules, the law. A voter must be registered in the county of his PRIMARY residence. Voter registration is important. There are always allegations of voter fraud every election. Imagine what can be gotten away with if people did not register to vote. He could have drove to Pickett county to vote, but then he would have broken the law, he knew that. Voting in a district where you do not reside is illegal.

In the case of Mr. Davis, you left out the most important part of why he was told he could not vote, he was in the wrong county. See the Davises were registered to vote in Pickett County, he showed up in Fentress County. Was it a mistake, or was he trying to vote twice?  But Mr Davis tried the "don't you know who I am" defense.

“He said I would have to re-register,” Davis said. “And I told them I’m already registered, I’m not going to re-register".

Now he could have drove to the other county, but he would have broken the law.

So why did one county "move" his registration as Davis claims? They didn't, in fact it was Davis that moved and did not re-register in the county he now resided. So who's fault is that? Oh I know, you are going to say it was a right wing conspiracy. Always the response from the left when they break the law. The law is quite simple and easy to follow. Here it is

      Requirements to Register to Vote

      You must:

      be a United States citizen

be 17 years of age to register; 18 on or before the day of the election to vote

be a resident of the State

not be in prison or on parole for the conviction of a felony

not judicially determined to be incompetent to vote.

      WHAT IS YOUR RESIDENCE?

Where are you legally entitled to register and vote?

The statute refers to your "domicile" - the place where your family lives, where you physically reside, the place you intend to return to whenever you are gone from it, the address on your driver's license, where you claim your homeowner's property tax exemption or renter's tax credit. You can have only one domicile, even if you have more than one house or residence. See the Elections Code for more information about domiciles.

If you are a college student living away from home you may register at your college residence address (on or off campus) or at your permanent home address, but only at one of those places.

If you own more than one residence you must decide which one is your "domicile" and register and vote at only one place.

If you are homeless you may register as long as you maintain a fixed location where you can receive mail and at which you can be assigned to a precinct.

      HERE IS THE IMPORTANT PART.

      RE-REGISTERING TO VOTE

You must re-register to vote (by filling out a registration application form) if:

you change your address within the county or move to another county  or are a new resident of the state

      you change your name

you wish to affiliate with (join) a political party or change your political party affiliation

There you go, plain and simple. The law and rules apply to everyone equally, Washington needs to learn that.

    There's nothing equal about it.
The TP'ers who got elected in 2010 did it to suppress votes that usually go to Dems.

"55-year old U.S. Marine Tim Thompson was turned away from the polls today, Super Tuesday 2012, in the state of Tennessee, after refusing to present a photo ID before voting, as required by a new law recently passed by Republicans.

        By Brad Friedman

Thompson was documented by videographers attempting to cast his vote under the new polling place Photo ID restrictions instituted by TN’s Republican-majority legislature and signed into law last year by the state’s Republican Gov. Bill Haslam.

The former Lance Corporal, who left the service in 1978, has lived in Nashville since 2004 when he first cast his vote at the same precinct where he was turned away today. In an act of protest, planned in advance and video-taped by a number of media outlets, Thompson refused to show any more than the voter registration card he has previously used for voting in the state

“This is my voter registration card,” Thompson said as he challenged the poll supervisor. “I’ve used this for 37 years. This was good enough for my father. This was good enough for my grandfather, and I refuse to show you a picture ID.”

After refusing to vote on a provisional ballot, which may or may not be counted after an election, Thompson tells the supervisor, “I’m objecting to the law that they implemented on my right to vote.”

“I served my country. I served my country so you can vote. I’ve earned my right to vote. This is my ID,” he is seen explaining angrily in the video, as he points to the U.S. Marine insignia on his jacket.

“I’ll be damned if I’ll stand here and allow you to not let me vote because some governor of this state decided he wanted to eliminate my right to vote — and put conditions on it — that I fought for.”

“I took an oath in 1974 that stated I want to defend and protect American citizens on their rights to vote — their basic right to vote in an open and free election. But I guess he [Gov. Haslam] forgot about his, his oath. He did forget about his oath, because he’s not protecting our rights. And it’s a slap in our face,” Thompson says during the confrontation.

The former Marine turned chef in Nashville is just the latest of those to confront and/or be confronted by new draconian restrictions on voting rights this year, as passed by Republicans in more than a dozen states in the wake of their 2010 electoral victories."

Let me repeat: "new draconian restrictions on voting rights this year, as passed by Republicans in more than a dozen states in the wake of their 2010 electoral victories."

I don't think it's possible for a President to have a positive change in anyone's life personally, even in the policies he can try to get created.

Everyone in this country has always look at our Nation's Leaders over the decades and expect them to behave like a Emperor or King. We don't have that type of government. We don't have Kings that decree changes.

All party or (majorities of these groups) in Washington of the republicans, democrats, house of representatives, and congress have to agree in order for any issue to be solved.

I think we're all responsible for our own changes in our own lives. We should elect a president that's concerned with solving our many issues and will try to do this by working with the other parties and political officials in Washington.

Which is, to his credit, something he's trying to do. He may be from Hawaii and African American, but the worst thing about him is that he's young.

And I guarantee you, his age is the reason some of them are giving him such a hard time. He's a younger male, that's been elected.

And I promise you, he won't be the only young American man that will be elected in the future. And either that man will do what he's told, or he'll have a hard time with officials there too.

Yes, he's YOUNG. That's good thing. We are at the end of a dinasaur era...Fossil Fuel and meat-eating.

A young president isn't a bad thing as long as he has the experience and the heart of a true American. Obama has neither so youth means nothing in this situation. It's just a number in a man's life and those pissed away by a nation on a failed administration.

@lovemychris They really don't like that age difference. Change is hard, it results in a lot of work, stuff they just don't want to do.

And if they can prolong changes he wants to make, then that would allow that change he's trying to bring, to never happen.

And people will blame the President, of course, he's the figure-head, that's what he's there to be and to take all the blame. It comes with the job.

I just love it when an Atheist tries to quote the Bible.

Oh, I know much more about God than you do. She doesn't like it when people use her to defend their hatred.

                Genesis 1:27 KJV

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

So God is male, huh? I never think of her that way. Way too violent for my taste.

I don't have a problem with Obama' age, Son, as he's only a few months older than myself. It's his lack of experience, lack of a true American heart, and the fact he doesn't believe in our Constitution that has convinced me he's a horrible president.

Obama reminds me of that book I read when I was little...A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.

He's a tree growing amidst all these concrete minds.

Oh talking points/shmalking points....read this and know:

"All of you bent and evil servants of self interest and venal personal profit can kiss my dust. I will not bow down to you. I will not honor you with my fear. My fear is reserved alone for the apprehension that I might fail in my endurance of and contempt for your miserable presence on this once beautiful Earth; the footstool of something far beyond your imagination and comprehension. Laugh jackals, as you tear at the corpse of every good thing that you have turned into stinking offal. Wallow in your certitude that you are untouchable in your fortresses of straw. Your hour is coming round. Call your lawyers and witnesses for the defense. The laughter you will hear will not be your own."

Music to my ears.....les visible orchestra of the apacolypse....or, as I winsomely call it: the opera of the insane. It's coming to an end. Not for nothing, the crazy is out in full force now. The Last Gasp of a dying aeon.

"Now to save the world from a major catastrophe, the responsibility lies on the American public. The need to react has never been so grave as it is today; some insane minds are bent upon destroying the world for their vested interests. Remember death is never a matter to rejoice, it brings chaos and destruction. It would take one push on the button to destroy what mankind has taken ages since times immemorial to build. It’s our world or its no body’s world; that’s what the situation is like."

    Wow! God loves pollution too!

I believe it would be more accurate to say Inhofe is an idiot for trying to put words in God's mouth even though Global Warming is hoax (my words, not God's).

And, no, I'm not going to debate something that doesn't exist.
