   Have you published a book?
   
   Have you published anything either traditionally or as an E book? Was it through a publisher or did you do it yourself?

   I have published seven books I published them all thru Lulu. I love Lulu because I have total control over how my book looks inside and out and I control the price. I would definitely recommend it especially for those who want to publish a poetry book, which most of mine are.

      Lulu had upped their prices. You used to be able to self-publish there for $99.95. They are not giving you any more for the amount they are now charging.

      With lulu you publish for free, as it's always been. To get your book to amazon is also free. If you want to distribute your book also to Barnes & Noble and other online retailers than you pay $75.

   My sister and I self published a book entitled, "Nephilim: Children of the Fallen Angels." We used a company that I would not recommend. The main reason I decided to publish this book was that after I submitted it for copyrights, a lot of duplicate movies with the same themes and words started to show up. I just wanted to make sure that my version was out there as well. I think it is a good idea to get your material out there because the remakes, whether in books or movies are getting boring and predictable. Please will someone create something new because the book publishing and movie industry really needs help. I will continue to contribute what I can, in hopes that it will not be stolen but eventually purchased.

   Several. I have done both traditional, self-publish, and ebook. I currently have my own publishing company so work through them.

   I am in the process of writing a book akin to Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. It is very timely, so I would like to get it published by a recognized publisher rather than self-publishing. I really believe this is a book for everyone worldwide. But I have no idea how to get it published. Do I need the manuscript completed first, or just a healthy taste? Any advice?

      Most publishers want to see a full manuscript from a new author. Once you have a few books under your belt, a small 'taste' my suffice. When you're all finished, ask close friends to help you do a first edit and then send it out to agents/publishers.

      Thank you for the advice!! I suspected as much. I do have a friend working with me to iron out details, but no one has read it yet. I've never written anything this long before. Are there any guidelines on words/chapter or number of chapters?

      Check out a few books in the genre you're writing and multiply words per line x's # of lines and then x by how many pgs to see how long a book in that genre typically is. The avg paperback is about 50,000-100,000 words. But there are exceptions!

   I have self-published 5 books on Amazon using Createspace both in print and for kindle, also e-books on smashwords. I also have a poetry book on lulu.  I have started to put my other books on lulu mainly because I like the various book cover and backgrounds that are available with the option to upload my own.  Although I am still looking round for other self-publishing options.
