How to deal with angry old men?

Some weird guy on here constantly criticizes me when I ask for advice, says I'm seeking attention. Don't really care about that, but I wonder how to deal with angry elderly people? It'd be useful later on, thanks.

I humor angry old men. The elderly tend to be grumpy. Maybe he's a WWII veteran (or veteran of some other war) whose served his country, and therefore, to my way of thinking, deserves a bit of deference.

Yes, the old can be ornery. The only solution I can see is love and patience. When I do that, I've found it takes some of the steam out of them. Direct resistance never, ever, ever, ever yields good results. Humoring them, if done properly, tends to disarm most of them.

    Take care.

Killing them with kindness has worked for me. He's just projecting (telling you that you're seeking attention but criticizing you because he wants to be noticed!).

I've found that moving to a small 3rd world country where I can date women much, much, much younger has helped easy my temper considerably.

A Warm Smile if dealing with them in person, and most of all patience.

Best way to deal with an angry older person is to smile and nod (if in person) and if it's online then all you can do is be polite. I would never suggest lashing out at them (no need to go down to that level if you can avoid it. It's always better to take the high road, I think.) My personal method when dealing with grumpy folks is to use humor!

I like to keep a whoopie cushion with me for these occasions. Two or three squeezes and they're off to check their drawers, leaving me in peace.
BTW, I'm taking notes as I intend on being a cranky old man as soon as I can get there. I'll be on to your tricks, HAHAHA!!!

Ignore them. They're just lonely and looking for attention to temporarily distract themselves from the cold abyss of the grave haunting their every footstep. Cheer up. They'll be dead soon!

It all depends what you call 'old' Syrusv37?

I mean, a grumpy old man where i come from is usually a bitter twisted retiree who's fed up with his lot. The again, The Australian kids think their 40 something parents are 'old'.

So by 'elderly' do you actually mean over 60, 65+ perhaps? I see you're in your early 20's so just curious.

But whatever your definition of 'angry old men' the best way to deal with them is to give an overly polite and pleasant response to every snide remark they throw at you. And the nastier they are, the politer you become. Believe me, that'll soon soften them up ;-) Not that I'm an angry old 50 year old who's talking from experience you understand smile
