What was the best compliment you ever received?

I would assume compliments might be phrased the same, yet they won't have the same effect on people. It all depends, doesn't it? What is your story? No matter how ordinary or unimaginative a compliment might have sounded, how did it make you feel and why?

My son used to tell me "Mom, you are fat!" Without blinking, I would proceed "But am I beautiful?" "Yes, you are". "Well, that makes me fat and beautiful". While it is not exactly a compliment, but it is simply unforgettable.

I agree those compliments - that touch our core - are the best. Mine is "I've just had an erection!" sounds like an obscenity (or a case of "who cares anyway?!"), but it was the context that made it so memorable!!!

My dear Ian, you are one of a kind - I always felt that you were my TEACHER and a FRIEND at the same time. Maybe the word MENTOR is better, but I still prefer TEACHER and FRIEND. I always felt that we were MEANT to meet, even if only in CYBERSPACE!

Thank you! You make me remember more things that I have heard! I do, too, say to people and women (being a woman myself and, no, I am not a homosexual, so if i say it - it's not to to come on to...) - "You are beautiful!!!"

Epigramman, you are not starved for adoration! The whole HubPages Universe adores you!!! Yet, you are starving for the something that I would say is ... - oh, I don't know ... Whatever I say, Colin, you know, I support you!

And now, you remember it - you are tough, you managed and now you are happy. You are tough, you are a woman and you are appreciated for both! This compliment section really makes me feel better!!!
