Is it better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all?
Yes. You would be a better person for it. You will have experienced the journey of it, even if you don't reach the destination that you want. What many people forget is that when it is over and the person has left/died, the journey was still experienced and they still have the memories, emotional capacities, and experience.
I saw a 'study' that claimed that was not the case; according to it, it is better to never have loved at all. However, it's flaw was that it analyzed divorcees, many of whom should never have gotten married. IT could be said that some of them were not really in love; but more importantly, it did not interview the right people on either end.
It all depends on how the relationship ended. By that I mean was their violence? financial ruin? drama filled years? Twisted love is never worth the time or pain.
It's one thing to have a relationship end "amicably" because one or both people decide they want something different or suddenly feels they are no longer "in love", one of them is moving a great distance and does not want to maintain a long distance relationship....etc Yes it would be painful for the one who is not ready to end the relationship. However they will continue to have sweet memories.
Yes, most definitely. Love makes us whole and completes our reason for living. There is a song called "Nature Boy," by Eden Ahbez and famously recorded by the late Nat King Cole. You must visit youtube and listen to it. It will answer your question. The last two lines of the song are:
"The greatest thing you'll ever learn
Is just to love and be loved in return."
yes, it is better to love someone and lost it than never to love at all. You wouldn't know the feeling of loving someone at all. Losing someone may break your heart but it is a lesson that we learn as we go through life.
Ah, But if you never loved anyone then you don't know what you're missing nor would you know what heartache is either. Can one miss what they never had? I have never parachuted from a plane. I hear it's a thrill and yet I don't feel I missed out. :-)
Certainly is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all, love makes individuals who they really are an experience you would remember and learn from always.
As someone in this condition I'm glad I loved and lost once. I didn't need to go through it the second time or the fourth time...well I guess I eventually gained 3 brain cells and stopped.
