How would you define the word trust?
My boyfriend and I have very different opinions of what it means. He says trust is believing that somebody would never hurt you, while I say trust is believing that the person will never lie to you or do something behind your back that they know you wouldn't like.
You're both right! (In part)
To trust someone does mean you believe they would not hurt or betray you. It also means you believe they'll demonstrate honesty and integrity whenever they answer your questions.
Some people mistakenly believe if you trust them you wouldn't ask them questions. Asking questions doesn't necessarily mean one has trust issues.
However refusing to answer questions does lead to trust issues.
Everyone needs a little reassurance or clarification now and then otherwise they're taking each other for granted.
Trust is believing someone and relying on them to help you in the time of need and knowing that they will keep your secrets.
Both are correct but rarely anyone could comply both sincerely.
