Is your marriage doomed if your mate cannot make you laugh?

I'm pretty sure that you need to be happy when you're around your mate in order for a relationship to work, and what's happier than laughter.  I think there may be a correlation between laughter and a successful relationship, feedback?

I think a sense of humor is a necessity to make it through life with one's sanity intact.  Since mates share life's path, it would seem to me that being able to laugh together would be a very important part of a successful relationship.  I don't think you have to marry a comedian or class clown, but one's mate should be able to appreciate and share the funny little things that happen in daily life.  We've all had those moments where you have to laugh so as not to cry and it helps when your mate can understand why you are laughing at something that's not funny on the surface.

I wouldn't say doomed, but it sure isn't going to be very much fun.
