It's no reason. The best thing to do is to ask yourself, "Are we true to each other and do we confined to one another, like personal things and secrets?" And how long have you been friend with this person? And in fact if this person have done something to you that was so detrimental..  Than discuss the situation with than instead of giving up your friendship.  Talk it over with than, a friendship is very hard to find.

If the friendship doesn't bring anymore good to all whom it affects, then I believe it should be given up.

I agree with Mike about the dishonesty. What is the point of wasting time with people who are telling lies to you continually.

The best reasons I can think of to dissolve a friendship is when it becomes toxic. That means there is manipulation, dishonesty, and not having the same shared values, interests, and goals in life.
Many people are going their separate ways due to political views as well.
