Why do people think they are Better than us, when clearly they are really showing that they aren't?
Know what I mean? We meet others in life that do whatever they can to make us feel that they are superior to us... when factually, that very act alone shows that they are inferior! What insecurities make people pull that stunt?
I believe you answered your own question in the expansion of that question.
Most of us are programed from birth to either fail or succeed. The sad truth?, is that many are over-compensating for percieved short comings. Others? are simply mean and miserable.
As a mid century Realtor,I find it best not to fead the nastyness. Simply walk away.
You are the most powerful person that you allow yourself to be.
I don't think those people are as insecure as a lot of people think they are. I think, instead, that they often think more highly of themselves than they really ought to. My theory is that they were kids who grew up without ever having a parent tell them, "Look. You're wonderful, and you're really loved; but no matter how wonderful and loved you are, there are a lot of other people in the world who are as wonderful and loved as you are." I'm not AT ALL in favor of pushing down a child's self-esteem, but - really - there's a way to nurture self-esteem while also putting things in perspective.
So, I think there's there's that (above), and I think, too, some people have a "measure of a man" that's based on superficial, isolated, things; and if they excel in one of those things they get to feel superior overall. Someone who values in others what is important in all human beings will recognize that he's not better than anyone else.
Or else, you're right (Pearldiver). They're insecure about the stuff that involves being a person in general, so they latch onto some superficial thing (like who has the most money or who is the best looking, etc.) and use that at their measure (because they can't use what really matter as their measure of equality and worth as human beings).

Why do some people think they are entitled to things that others work hard for? Here in the UK there is a debate about those on welfare being better off than some people who work. Do you think those who receive welfare are entitled to the same living standards as those who work?

Why ask a controversial question of others whom you do not agree with?I'd like to know what the point of this is? Do you want to learn, cause arguments or claim persecution? There have been quite a few from a number of people, like this. I'm confused, particularly due to the responses of the...
