Do you know women that use dating sites for a free dinner or night out and how do you feel about it?

I don't think it's a secret that many women will go out with a man they are (not) attracted to rather than spend another Saturday night at home. In some instances these women see qualities later on that they admire in these men. In other instances the date was simply to fill up an empty calendar spot and the women have no intention of allowing a relationship to formulate beyond a "platonic friendship."
Men by contrast will only ask out women they (are) attracted to for the most part. Not many guys would consider spending a couple of hundred dollars on women they aren't considering as relationship material or a sexual conquest. Attraction is important.
Last but not least sometimes a woman's friends will encourage her to give a guy (a chance) if they believe he is "nice".  They are prompted to look beyond attraction to consider other qualities.
Author Lori Gottlieb wrote a book titled, ("Marry Him: The Case for Settling for Mr. Good Enough.") Can you imagine the same book written for men? Not likely. I've never heard of a man urge his friend to go with a girl simply because she is "nice".
As far as women using dating sites for a "free" night out it can't be avoided. The majority of the time a man is going to at least pay for (the first date). If he determines there is no "chemistry" between them odds are there will not be a "second date". Whether you are a man or woman the vast majority of people you meet will not lead to a "love connection". In many respects (dating) is on par with (interviewing) candidates for a job.

So very true and I hadn't heard of the book until now but can't imagine "settling"  Maybe that's why I'm in my 50's and still single lol (loving it by the way)
I am a firm believer in "chemistry" and would not want anyone to settle for anything less

You know I didn't think I was settling, but after you experience that and see how your kids are affected, especially when they end up being a dead beat...you realize that when you look, don't rule anyone out.  Older can offer what young can't maybe

@abby  I don't think age makes much of a difference anymore, as in character, morals, trust and  priorities.  There are a lot of older men I know that are less responsible and trustworthy than most 30 yr olds .
But that spark still seals the deal:)

Its an abuse of the system if their are motivations and they aren't being true to the morality behind using such a site.  Getting someone's hopes up that has resorted to the internet to meet people isn't a nice thing to do and its a shady action to use someone like that..take your own damn self out to dinner

I have a couple of girlfriends who have used dating websites. I don't think a free meal was even remotely in their mind. First dates, especially with someone you met on the internet can be pretty awkward. I don't think the price of dinner would be worth that if that is all you were looking for.
