   Eight years is really not the issue as much as how old the youngest person is. For example a 40 year old dating a 48 year old is different than having an 18 year old senior in high school dating a 26 year old.
   Ideally the youngest person should have a strong sense of self, be independent, mature, and has some dating experience. When this is not the case it's easy for the young person to come to depend on the older person in ways that resemble a parent/child relationship instead of having an equal partnership.
   Immaturity and lack of relationship experience often leads to having (unrealistic expectations) and can overwhelm one during the "infatuation phase" of a new relationship especially with an older more worldly person.

      Lol I'm almost eighteen and he's almost 26 were not dating yet but I don't want to be stepping into the wrong direction neither does he cause were best friends he wants to wait

      Not many parents would approve of that relationship. In a lot of places it's illegal for an "adult" to have sex with someone under the age of 18. It's not uncommon for teenage girls to want to date older guys. Older men also pursue younger women.

      Yes I get that that's why I want to wait till I'm older but I just don't want to be that clutsy idiot falling into this

   I guess it depends. If you're 19 and dating an 11 year old, then that's kind of bad.  But if you're 28 and dating a 20 year old, nothing wrong with that at all.

   It's never a matter of age (beyond legality -- wait until your birthday before anything incriminating, assuming Illinois has the same 4-year gap law that Wyoming does ), but always a matter of maturity and life stage. There are people in their 40s who are stuck in their late teens maturity-wise, while a teenager may have the maturity of a 50-year-old. It varies hugely by individual, and chronological age is often a terrible marker.
   
   I met my husband when I was 22 and he was 49. We married the following year. I'll be 28 next week and he's 54 -- we now have two kids together and going great. Plenty of people told us that it was too big of an age gap, that my head would be turned by younger men and he'd get tired of my lack of world experience, but they were wrong. It takes a lot to make a relationship work, but if you have a good mesh going and can work together as a team, then that age thing really is just a number.

      Playing free poker on Myspace, of all things. They had a chat box . We got a regular poker group going from 9 strangers, ended up finding a husband and 5 lasting friends
