How did you meet your husband or wife?

How soon did you know you wanted to marry him or her? Were you looking for love or did it just happen?  Were you attracted to him or her immediately, or did that change over time?

When I was 17 I was visiting sunny Hutchinson Island,Florida with my fellow Canadian friend, Rick.
My love, Kathleen of Florida residency and of sweet 16 was visiting her Uncle at the same condo location. I saw this beautiful bikini-clad woman collecting seashells along the seashore. I was fixed on her. As she headed north meandering about I aimed my frisbee and (accidentally?) hit her on her derrière. I abandoned my buddy, ran up to Kathleen and apologized profusely. Two hours later we were still chatting (NOTE: not online).
Within two weeks I was back in Canada and I confided to some of my friends, namely Mongo and Darc-Man that this woman was so extraordinarily different then all my other friendly associations and I said to myself, this is the One!  I knew for sure at that moment two weeks after first-meet...
We are still together 30 years later and "boy-oh-boy" do we have our moments; yet come H - E double hockey sticks or flooded water we stick. We simply know and flow with the punches...

I laughed really hard reading this story. Amazing that you had to go to another country to find your wife.

It may not be, that I had to go to another country to find her. I like to theorize that we were destined to meet at that particular place at that particular time and then our "free will" would result in either sticking or moving on...

Typing class our junior year of high school.  We didn't marry until seven years later, but that was 38 years ago.  We survived a long-distance relationship through college, so we have beat the odds in a couple of ways.  In military academy terms, I'm a two-percenter: the percentage of wives at retirement who started out as the girlfriend the soldier had when he signed up.

We met when I moved into my apartment building - he was my next door neighbor! One day, he invited me over for a piece of leftover red velvet cake and the rest is history smile

I married my high school sweetheart.  We were two really dumb and young kids, but we are still married after 36 years!  It is hard to believe as it has gone by so fast.  I told him when I met him of all my plans to travel the world and NOT get married, as I was only 17 then.  Then when I was 19, we married!  Still do not know how that happened LOL.  I was not looking for love believe me, so it must have been part of God's plan for my life.  We have been through so much together ... you name it, and we are best friends after having gone through so much in this life together since a young age.
