After looking at the pros & cons of the breakup, and getting your emotions in check, do some of the things that made you happy before you had the relationship like cooking, dancing, or finding treasures on the internet.  Even talking over your feelings with someone might help.  Good luck!

Life is about (living) and not looking for distractions.
The ideal thing to do after a breakup is to get back to best parts of you prior to the relationship. Most of us whenever we're in a relationship tend to let some things we enjoyed doing fall by the wayside. In some instances we made less time for friends, family, hobbies, or even set our goals aside.
A good place to start may be making a list of all the things you'd like to do or experience before you die. For some people it might be learning to play an instrument, visiting a particular country, learning a new language, getting a specific degree, buying a particular car, changing careers, following a particular exercise/diet regimen, and trying new things. Now get busy!
Another place to start is being around people who have similar interests and hobbies. You may want to join a few such groups on Meetup.com
They have everything from wine tasting groups, book clubs, theatre goers, singles mixers, meditation, yoga, hiking, writing, dancing, and so on. Doing whatever it is (you want to do) causes you to focus on "the now".  The only cure I know of for depression is taking action.
A "distraction" on the other hand is uphill battle to give your attention to one thing when your heart isn't really into it.
Relationships don't define us. What makes you (you) is who you are, your interests, desires, hopes, and dreams.
Know yourself, Love yourself, and Trust yourself!
Every ending is a new beginning!
