In the U.S. premarital sex is not illegal. In fact according to statistics the average person now "loses their virginity" at age 17 in the U.S.
Very few people are waiting until marriage to start having sex.

At one time, many people waited to have sex. It may be practiced more in the Bible belt in the Oklahoma area and surroundings in the United States. it might be nice to marry a virgin..

Audrey, I can't imagine there being a real "upside" to marrying someone who is sexually inexperienced or possibly may have no interest in sex. Even OKC has some wild night spots. Teens rarely share their sex lives with parents.

Where exactly is such a thing illegal? I would like to know so that I can make sure never to move there.

i live in India.......Its not mentioned in the constitution of India that having sex before marriage is illegal, but i have seen that if some one caught doing so, the society forces them to get married otherwise it will be considered as rape by law.

The legality or otherwise should not come into something as personal as this.  It should always be a free choice.  That is, the decision to have sexual relations or not should be a decision made by both of those involved, or wish to be involved, and not be answerable to some 'authority' or 'authority figure.   The provision, of course, being that the people are adults, and not under age.

I didn't realize that was illegal.  Maybe in the case of prostitution.  Of course it depends what country you live in.  Not illegal in the United States unless if one of the two or three are under the age of 18
