Good question Jose. A friend is always a friend with all his strengths and weaknesses. As far spending much time with him, it depends on our approach rather than a friend's  specific nature and quality. If am jovial not moody, void of selfishness, caring.... then sure to spend a quality time in his companionship. Actually friendship between the two persons is a mirror wherein they resemble and reflect each other, therefore there shouldn't arise a question of spending more time with a friend, as I never think in the same line when it comes to me and my personal needs. Therefore there should be a difference between a friend and a known person. For a friend everything and for a known person everything but conditional.

Good point! True friends complement each other and that is what makes friendship enjoyable and void of many personal deffects

I used to enjoy friends with similar interest with me and able to tell me their secrets instead I tell them mine. Beers, boys and odd jobs, that are the things we like best

The friends that make my happy and behave like true friends, so introverted or extroverted is not relevant for me!

As long as you are happy, that counts a lot in a friendship.

Selection of a friend always is based on what type of person we are. We may choose someone who might be of same nature as us or different in nature but always depends on what we are..! This implies to all.
Some might want to choose someone with a different nature but still with whom they can share their feelings.
Some might choose friends with like nature and whom they are most comfortable and to spend time with.
This compatability can be defined within few days or even within few hours of talking.
Basically, trust and honesty is what people look for in making any sort of relationship including friendship.
