Is there a way to live our life as we want and make amends with God later on?

No, unfortunately we cannot "have our cake and eat it too". You either live for God or against Him. He hates sin and it is worse to know the truth and reject it, than to have not known it at all. If you choose to live in Sin (for the devil) then you will surely go to hell. But if you choose to live a life of holiness (for God) then you are promised to inherit the kingdom of heaven. The choice is always YOURS! We cannot serve two masters (Matt 6:24)Be blessed my friend

God sets things in motion the moment we are conceived, with regards to His plans for us in our lives. We may veer away from His plan. We may turn away from Him altogether not a wise move though. Eventually we will reach the end of the line and if we have not met up to his goals He's going to want a reasonable explanation why not. The choice is always ours, but as for me I choose to follow God's path.

    There is grace, but:

Galatians 6:7 "Do not be decieved.  God cannot be mocked.  A man reaps what he sows."

God is smart enough to know whether you are believing in him or only using Him as an insurance policy.  He's no fool.

By "later on", do you mean on the day of your death? or in heaven?

If your heart is for other things right now instead of God, then your desire to live your life for God is not a pure, selfless desire, rather a desire to go to heaven at the end of your life. Do you long to know God now? Not wanting to live for Him now indicates a lack of interest and love toward Him. That is truly what He wants. For when we love Him, we will follow His commands-- (see 1 John 2:3 and 1 John 5:2 if interested.)

If we wait until it is a convenient time for us, we may lose the chance. (death may come before we expect it) and then you will know for sure that you made the wrong choice.

Besides, what is there in living for self? Sin? Life is so much more wonderful and meaningful when you do live for the Lord God. Sure, you fall, but you can get back up again. His life for you is one full of inward joy and peace and love. There's nothing like it.

Given that God is infinitely merciful, yes. Two catches though. You gotta be really sorry for what you did and you've gotta know when you're time's up. It's called a deathbed confession for a reason.
