    Are self help gurus just repackaging and teaching lessons from the Bible?

    No. These lessons were around before the bible.

    Perhaps some are.
    I think most people who become "guru's" or expert in some field like motivation, leadership & the like can discover powerful principles that were always here, put here by God, for our benefit.
    The Bible expresses them as teachings and lessons, not because they are Biblical per-se', but because they are universal "truth". God is the author of life and all tings related to it. Man can discover them outside of the bible in similar fashion as what say science is doing with natural laws and other phenomena.

    Why would you consider such an opinion ?  I can think of several parts of the Bible that make little sense in trying to help anything or anyone for that matter !

    In spite of some opinions religion with, or without, all the sanctimonious biblical quotations does not hold all the answers, and in the opinion of many true experts it hardly holds any at all.

    In self help there are no hard and fast rules of what will or will not work in any individual case and it would be wrong for anyone to say that there are.  There is no laid down formula for success and like most things in life it is not a case of ‘One Size Fits All.’   So if you are seeking help my advice would be avoid anyone who offers guarantees !

    No.  One of the central themes of the Bible is that we need outside help to fix our lives so a SELF-help guru wouldn't fit with this theme.  But then, what if the guru is an outside source of help?  So, I change my answer to 'sometimes.'

    The Bible is not the only source of knowledge, wisdom and understanding in the world. But if you change the question "from God" instead of "from the Bible", then my answer is yes. Because there is no knowledge, wisdom and understanding against God. Everything is God given whether we knew it or not. Wether we believe it or not. The problem begins if their teachings are not at all true. In that case, it did not come from either the Bible or God, but from a counterfeit god.

    The Bible clearly contradicts "self help"; therefore, a "self help" lesson or teaching from the Bible is contradictory to its theme.

    On the other hand, "self help gurus" are good at making you believe it is so by fleecing your pockets in the process.

    @JMHeller,

    Pretty much they are. I hate to say it but everything these days is just repackaged and redone for people to use and intake.

    Nothing's new and Self Help will always be the same run around wherever you go or look at it.
