What is the significance of using Olive oil for anointing in Church?
All I know is Olive oil is used in churches and if it's given to me and its running low, I just add baby oil to it. Why do they only use Olive oil?
Olive oil is symbolically used throughout the Word as a Blessing! It was an olive branch that the dove brought back to Noah. The olive groves were a blessing to Israel from God. Deuteronomy 6. Olive oil was used for lamps. Olive oil was also used to consecrate the priests. Gethsemane is where Jesus prayed before He was arrested and then crucified this is at the slope of the Mount of Olives opposite the Temple Mount.
