I was crushed by a stranger, and I've not been able to reconcile with myself ever since. Can prayer heal a broken heart?

Prayer can't heal it; however, the process of prayer can concentrate the mind for it to take the appropriate actions and thoughts to alleviate the problem.

Yes, it can help but with the help of other things. At our church we usually say "faith without work is dead". That means even if you pray so hard and do not do anything, nothing will happen.

No, another relationship or getting interested in something else probably helps.

No , but crying and talking about it can. Prayer is useful in context.  In this situation, feeling your feelings, sharing them with a trusted friend or counsellor will relieve your pain. Pain is a lesson, one we don't like, but a lesson nevertheless. Feeling our feelings is the only way through pain.

    yes, it can!
I strongly believe in God, and if some one truly believes in Him, He will definitely hear his/her prayer. Prayer(du'a) can even change your fate. It all depends on how deeply you want something....it can heal any wound any heart, because its very powerful!!

I believe in the power of prayer. Healing begins when you seek wisdom and understanding. Through prayer, questions can be answered. So I would say yes.

certainly it can and it will, God willing, if it is done with pure intention and proper way... but the thing is who you praying to? You must direct your prayers only to GOD, The only true GOd.

Of course, it can.... In condition that you do it in good order. You can pray in your tahajjud or after doing sholat Tahajjud (the suggested sholat done late in the night / before dawn). Or recite Al-Qur'anul Kariem in the following ways:
    1. Recite Surah Al-Fatihah.
    2. Recite the Surah that you want to read.
    3. Close your recitation with "Shadaqallaahul 'Azhiem".
    4. Say "Alhamdulillaahi Rabbil 'Aalamien.
    5. Say Shalawat to Nabiyullah Muhammad Salallaahu 'Alahi Wasallam.
    6. Say your prayer.
    7. Close it with Shalawat again.
    8. Say Hamdallah.
    9 Amien.
If you can do it regularly, Insya Allah ... Allah will fix your broken heart and give you the much better one.
