In what scenario would you consider giving your life for someone else?
Don't give up your life for someone else. Unless you know his life is more valuable than yours. And he is going to provide better environment to those whom you love after you are gone.
I know I would give my life for someone else. It is just that I have no idea what the scenario would be.
I will explain by giving an example:
A little child dashes into oncoming traffic in front of an oncoming truck.
Without giving it any thought, or because of my "instincts", or on an impulse, I rush into the street, shove the child away from the oncoming truck and get runover by the vehicle myself.
I would happily surrender my life in the defence of The Lord My God.
If I witness someone is drowning, I wouldn't give a second thought to jump into the water and try to save that person.
I can't think of anything, but that might only mean I'm quite privelledged.
It doesn't necessarily mean I wouldn't end it, though I don't think I'd really want to, when there's no hope, total desolation etc. Keep praying for hope only goes when you let it.
The time of oner and respect is far beyond us. Im not sure anyone would give his life to any cause. Selfishzm is the ability well developed these days. Thats in general what i think, me ? Absolutely never and for noone.
If there were time to think about it.
I know from experience that I would not hesitate. I have been in the position to put my life in danger to save someone else. Fortunately it all turned out well.
I know others who do the same. Many police, firefighters, and military officers put themselves in harms way on a daily basis.
(Sorry for the mini rant, the bleak posts before mine pushed my buttons.)
If it concerned my son's life. If I had to give an organ or jump in front of a car or something like that but just my son. Is that selfish? Hate to answer a question with another question but it got me thinking.
