Does it make sense to protect your life when at last death will still come and you can't stop it?
People say they won't die at certain times but they end up dieing even before the time. And there is always no means to here from the person why he or she could not stay till the time he or she says he or she will reach before dieing.
If you have an opportunity to successfully protect yourself from death then save yourself. This extends your life so that you can be more productive then if you did not protect yourself.
Sure death will come in the end, however, the question is did you accomplish enough before death? If you cannot protect yourself from death, then go in peace. After death you will find that you are not "dead". You simply has crossed over and you will learn that your life is eternal.
It depends on what you're protecting.
A very wise teacher said about 2000 years years ago that those who try to save their lives will surely die, but those who lose their lives for his sake will gain everlasting life.
The life -- the "self" -- which has to die? Could it be ego, the heart of selfishness?
Look at every bad thing that's ever been done by humans; it comes from ego.
Save your physical life if at all possible, but don't resent any misfortune. Everything that happens has a silver lining and the real "you" is immortal, anyway.
A longer life, even if one enduring great suffering, is precious, because it gives you an opportunity to help others and to get rid of ego, once and for all.
Death has no friends and no mercy. When it is your time to go it is your time and no one can change that fact. Sometime it is hard to admit how powerless we are relative to the universe. We would love to believe that we could extend our lives, but we cannot not even for a second. In other words, it does not really matter what people say about their death unless they plan on killing themselves. However even when people plan on killing themselves that many not work and they may live.
It does make sense to protect your life because it is yours to live and it is precious. Live with a purpose focus on the great purpose and make it your life's aim. Remember the spirit is eternal so there is no real reason to worry about physical death.

Deep in their heart they know that they 'deserved' something...
