The meaning of the word is "good news".
So, if it is GOOD news, why do so many make it out as BAD?
What does The Gospel mean to you? Why?
    PLEASE, NO nastiness!!!

No nastiness intended, only consider this: If I set up a TV News Channel and the news I broadcast all turns out to be true, the Channel soon acquires a following and a good reputation. But if the news proves untrue or unfounded, what then?

OK. More fully then, "the gospel of Jesus Christ".
Did that prove to be true or false?
Did it get a following or NO? hmm

Well you know, it's not all good news there either. All these poor swine made to impersonate lemmings, and then there was that innocent fig tree wink I never thought of the persecution and crucifixion as particularly good news, though it is certainly believable, while the more fanciful stuff about rising from the dead never convinced me.

That rising from the dead stuff is just outright deception!

I think I figured this one out. The news channel would not have any following at all and a bad reputation. Did I get it right?

          There you go.

It would have a massive sales department, a huge advertising budget and an enormous amount of sales agents though. wink

I would say that GOSPEL sounds more like God's Spell.
And that's what it is, considering all the people that are mesmerized by His Words !. big_smile

You can twist it that way if you like, but it has NOTHING to do with the words origin.
Why not make it read GO Spell? Oh, you already have a spell checker, so you won't need to. lol

It should be called “Copy Cat News” simply because every word that was put into Jesus’ mouth by the anonymous Gospel writers can be found in other sources to include the Old Testament.  In other words, Jesus didn’t have any original thoughts.  All of the so-called miracles and wonders performed by Jesus were copied from other cultures and mythological characters like turning water into wine, feeding large multitudes with a small amount of food and walking on water.

To the unlearned it can be considered to be good News but to those of us that are well educated and have studied ancient civilizations and mythology it just another copied and plagiarized story.

The "Good News", under strict conditions without any self-reliance, is God's self-revelation in Christ's Spirit-active, perfect and diacritical death on the cross according to the Scriptures.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the Good news of the Coming of the kingdom of God.

The Kingdom of God can be summarized as
"Good works from a pure heart."

The kingdom of God comes to those who  focuses on keeping the purity of heart by observing truth inwardly. This truth is the "Christ" and the "word of God".

Therefore the Gospel is  whosoever believes in Jesus Christ (the spirit of truth in you) they are sons of God and have inherited eternal life.

Now from the pure heart ( true believers) the Good works will naturally flow.
And that person is established in God's kingdom or we might also say a disciple of Christ.

Also the pure heart will get very clear understanding of the things around him and the true nature of God will be revealed.
With these revelation, the disciple will be well grounded in Truth, and thus know all things of which works of miracles will again naturally occur.

These revelation are written and called scriptures, which can serve as a guide to finding and walking in truth for the purification of the heart but it is not absolutely necessary .

In this world we have Christian mainly preaching Christ, and most are convince they are truly disciples of Christ because they have the name and the scriptures which came by revelation.
I think it  is obvious though that the name christian means nothing and everything at the same time.
For many who carry the name still do not actually know Christ and the works that should naturally flow is absent.

I can say it  this way, though they have the name christian and the scriptures, they do not posses the Spirit of Christ or we may say they do not have truth within themselves . And if ever they teach the truth about the gospel, it is within a context that the gospel not easily discerned.

The main reasons for this diverging from the truth of the Gospel is the scriptures.

As said before the scriptures are the revelation of those who believed the Gospel.
The scriptures is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction and instructions in righteousness. I can paraphrase this to say it's purpose is to assist any to  walking in the Spirit of truth.
For every believer purpose is to know and recognize and live by this Spirit.

The scripture causes men to deviate from the truth of the Gospel because of these reasons.

It was limited to only sixtysix or seventyeight books according to difference in denomination. So only the books within the bible are considered true scripture.
But truly there are hundreds of scripture over the years of men existance.

Next the limited collection of scriptures called the bible has been declared the only and final authority of the believers of the Gospel.

Now by this declaration we are forced to assume, That there are no revelation nor truth outside of the bible and
to live and walk in the fullness of the spirit of truth is merely a matter of studying and knowing the scriptures contained in the bible.
Effectively making the bible a book of law to abide by and therefore labelled the word of God.

Now the concept of the bible as the only and final source  for all revelation, instructions, and truth is a foreign concept even to the very scriptures contained on it's pages.

Here are a few notable ones.
Jesus the person whom the Gospel revolves said and written in the book of John, that there is a spirit of truth or the Holy Spirit or the comforter which is the guide into all truth.  And by this Spirit we will know all things and do all things.

Paul in the book of Romans also wrote, any who do not have the spirit of truth does not belong to Christ.

John in 1St John again wrote,  it is not necessary that any man teach you for there is an anointing with you and in you that will teach you all things.

In the book of Galations Paul showed that it is impossible for any man to know God by keeping a law while the book of acts spells out the only things that should be imposed on beleivers namely abstaining from forniction, eating blood, and worshiping Idols.

The title "Word of God" was given to the bible, which technically is accurate, but when the bible is being read, everytime the term "word of God" is presented, it denotes ones personal  revelation from the Spirit of Christ and not the scriptures itself.
But it is widely accepted that "word of God" is the bible though the word scripture is used to denote scriptures.

These are just a few references which ultimately tells us who is the final authority of the believers of the Gospel is the Spirit of Christ or your revelation of truth in your heart .

Like I said earlier the Gospel is all about purifying the heart through adhering to the truth (spirit of Christ or  living word of God) found within.

We now hear a Gospel where the bible the principal Figure, and also is the substitute "word of God" or Christ thus eliminating the need to look into one's heart for truth or the Christ.
We see denomination boasting of their adherence to the bible as their absolut and final authority, and though their Gospel messages are similar none of them could agree.
    A clear indication of error.

What if a news channel was trying to warn a cynical and distrustful public that they had a virus that was killing them and the symptoms were cynicism and distrust? And what if the news channel was offering free and effective inoculations against the virus but the symptoms kept the public from helping themselves in spite of the news channel and all its affilates.

I can see that in that scenario the news channel would have a bad reputation among much of the public in spite of a steady number of immune or immunized people who would tune in over time.

Good question. What if it was based solely on fear and nothing else?

A lot of sheeple would follow just in case. And this would form the backbone of the sales team. wink

Marc Salyerposted 15 years agoin reply to this

Right, fear (a symptom of the virus) and love (a result of the vaccine) but the symptoms would cause the public to see the vaccine and the channel through the lens of cynicism and dout. Also the "sales team" would be a charity program offering free vaccinations.

Sadly the fear is the only thing the sales team understands. They know nothing of the imaginary virus. They virus does not exist and the sales team live high on the hog for 1800 years. At the same time causing numerous conflicts and no matter how many times they are told "no thank you" they will continue to force it pretending it is out of love when it is not. sad

They do not seem to understand that this form of love i.e. - giving them the vaccination against their will only to discover that they cause a different infection because they were not really qualified to give the vaccine for the non existent virus -  and all they really cared about was making the sale. wink

I see what you are getting at. And it would be an excellent point except what you're describing is a competing network. Those scoundrels have a very similar message but of course it's full of errors and untruths. They have a giant budget because, as you have pointed out, they have a great sales team. They have stolen the original news channel's logo and over-all image and they revamped the heck out of it. They have all the best lawyers so the original news channel can forget trying to sue them. They have really besmirched the original news channel and her affialiates. In fact the network you described and other copycats are all over the dial offering a watered down version of the vaccine at best (or at worst a poisonous snake oil that as you suggested does much more harm than good). The original network is harder to find and is plagued by lots of interference.
