"Tit for tat" or depend on God for the result?

If you know some one who had tried to do bad for you , would you like to leave it to God or to punish the person concerned?

Depend on God. We should try not to judge others and that is surely difficult but I think if you tried to live "tit for tat", you'd always be looking for the last word and at some point that would just have to be exhausting. I think the better way to look at it is "what goes around, come around". This can be frustrating though because you may never see the second half of it or the "coming around". Sometimes, you just have to know everyone answers some day although you may not even know it.

Thanks@teyeger82. Another form of Karma to believe for me. Very well said indeed. Thanks for your response.

how the heck would some god make a difference. i saw this question and i had to answer. depending on god to take care of your problems is kind of silly.

Depending on a greater force is a sign of humility. Example we rely on the sun for so many things that we now take for granted.  We do not worship the sun anymore, for what ever reasons, but the fact is without the sun we will all die.

Air we don see but cant live without it and likewise the supreme power we don see but for that we are here. You may not experience the nature at the most powerful mode yet it seems. Whatever God Bless you

ok but what does that have to do with some god that no one can see, hear or even understand. we see the sun. we understand the role it plays in our lives.

some people always feel the power of God...if you have not felt the power yet....i think you will soon. i do strongly believe in that. we can feel the strong existence and power of God with true effort.

This question is just to ludicrous to NOT post a comment on.
    1. Retaliation is never a solution.
    2.  Depending on God to solve your petty problems ain't gonna cut it my dear.   You can see all the intervention that you God has never done in the past 2,000 years to save this world from corruption and vice, so where did you ever get the idea that , if there is anyone watching and listening, that they would actually intervene for you?  Get real.

      Thanks @ d. william
petty probs and retaliation are not the subject here. its like teaching a lesson yourself or wait for the person to get the result of a bad deed themselves. Then trust in a supreme power comes which keeps us grounded.

Teaching a lesson - not retaliation?  Leave it to God or punish the person?  Trust in a supreme power comes? My comments were definitely appropriate.

i am very practical and had gone through some real tough time. these all i am saying from experience. God solves the prob which are beyond our control. God is very much everywhere. i respect your views. there is also strong basis for that i am sure.

My roommate in college (one winter he grew a beard and looked like Jesus) had a philosophy called "The 10 Factor".  He reasoning was that if some one screwed you over, you screwed them 10 times more.  At the time he was a big fan of revenge movies like Death Wish and mafia movies.  I'm sure he mellowed out by now.

In a modern society we use the justice system and a police force.  Keep the voodoo dolls, magic potions, hexes and curses back in the dark ages.  Thinking that God will punish someone at some point depends on too many factors including - 1. The existence of God and 2. That this God shares your view on the situation.  Maybe God wanted you to get beat up? Maybe God wanted the other person to have your car stereo?

What if God just thinks you're a whinny crybaby who can't defend themselves and tries to pass off the responsibility to God?  Is it God's fault you didn't follow God's lobbyists on earth, the NRA advice on purchasing guns to protect yourself?

Who knows what God considers tit or tat.  In the Bible he comes across in various ways, instigator, cruel, violence loving, regularly loving, etc.

thanks@ peanutroaster... for your kind response and thoughtful reply.
There are really many possibilities as you portrayed above. What God considers to be 'tit or tat ' is very important aspect of the story. you gave some different points to consider

Good question. First it would depend on what the person was attempting to do to injur me.  If it was against the law then I would leave it to the law to prosecute them and be done with the issue.  If it was emotional, I would do my best to forgive them in my heart so that I would not get angry and do something stupid.  I believe in Karma so for me it would not profit me to try to harm anyone.  Just to make it clear if it was physical, I do have the right to defend myself and anyone needing assistance, but it shuold not be out of anger.  That is the reason I studied martial arts as a way to subdue and defuse a situation.
I keep in mind that the three gates to "hell" are lust, anger, and greed and I do not want to fall prey to any of the three.  This is according to the teachings of Lord Sri Krishna as found in the Bhagavad-Gita.

Best wishes may you find peace of being.

    Best wishes

Thank you @ Darrell Roberts for your response.
The forgiving aspect to the one who tried to emotionally hurt you is very noble kind of act, for me. If someone practically can do that its very good. As you believe in Karma its most expected attribute.
