If by politics you mean power games, then yes that is what most of life is about.
Our life is indeed shaped largely by government policies, but we cannot always be obsequious. When there is a need to voice our opinions over urgent issues, we have to speak up and not let the government oppress us. This is a basic human right. Therefore, life is not about politics, nor is it about money, power and status, rather, life is about examining oneself and see how life can be improved for the better good.
That depends on how you define politics. One definition is: characterized by shrewdness in managing, contriving or dealing with things in general. In this sense i would say yes, we all use political maneuvering in our daily lives, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
Now the political atmosphere of government is an entirely different thing, and used, not necessarily in the best way, as we see with all the negative maneuvering going on in the quest to win the election in November and trying to maintain control over our lives.
So, hopefully the politics of living our daily lives remains separate and apart from the governmental form of political maneuvering.

Do you think its a good idea or bad idea to write about politics on HubPages?Politics, like religion, stirs up emotions in some people bringing out their, shall we say, darker qualities. Knowing this is it a good idea to rouse them with political hubs?

Do you think people should have to display an understanding of politics before being allowed to voteI don't mean an in-depth understanding, just a basic one of how government works and what each party/candidate stands for.
