Adam and Eve - Truth or Myth?
Do you believe Adam and Eve are real people or allegorical figures. If they are physically true, why or how do you know, and if allegorical, what is the meaning or purpose of the story?
they are nothing more then a myth obviously. i think the idea behind the story is to give strength to the belief that we are destined to sin. it would have been pretty hard to promote christianity if it was said that god made us all faulty and to then say that god is perfect.
Thank you so much nightwork4. I'm curious to know, is your belief based on personal conclusions or do you share a belief based on a ideology or philosophy that you follow and relate to?
it's based on common sense. to say that adam and eve were the first humans and that just by eating something forbidden we were condemned to a life of sin is absurd.plus according to the old testament, lilth was adam's first wife, go figure.
In Heaven there was No Sin only Trespasses and correction then Forgiveness! The Sin is the refusal to repent! EVE, Satan and ADAM 's failure to Repent for his love of EVE Because the First two wanted GODship. and Not repentance!
I Believe they Are Very Real! But I do not believe the Story that some tell or claims that the Bible Tells. Their Purpose was Many Fold 1. Adam Was to take the Place of the Fallen Lucifer as a Teacher or Light Giver He was Created by GOD for the Fallen 1/3 that were deceived by Lucifer/ (Satan). Why Because Father States there was no longer any truth left within him. 2. It was to prove to all the world Both Heaven and Earth. That Satan was not ever going to Repent for his lusting and the belief that he could be greater then GOD the Father and Creator of all.
That was Adams Reason for being Created. He was A New Creation not of the Former World that was divided. God Created the help Meet not Mate but Meet to cause the correction of the fallen world that was. He Divided Adam as Lucifer Divided Those that fell and himself.
The Story say that it Grieve GOD to had have Created Man for the Testing of those that Fell mainly Lucifer. I Believe that God was not grieve because of the creation but the affirmation of Lucifer's condition or the proving of it. GOD needed No Proof but those who did and did Not Fall did. GOD is Not a controlling Ruler. HE is a Provider , Protector, and Maintainer of all that HE has Created. I have a Write that explains a little of what I believe as well as some others. http://sinbadsailorman.hubpages.com/hub … n-on-Earth I'd have to write several more Hubs to explain in-depth all That I believe of this story from the Bible.
Thanks for Asking Many are confused to the whole of our Story so much that they have forgotten It! Donnie/ Sinbad the Sailor Man
Thank you for your response Sinbadsailorman. Can you tell me (I also took a look at your article link) if you belief is related to a specific teaching, religious ideology, or is it you personal belief? I so appreciate you taking the time to answer.
The Belief I hold today is one I reached after a Lifetime of seeking and Of Asking Others and then Finally asking the Father; The Creator of Us all through HIS SON the Lord Jesus the Christ. I Finally Hit Rock Bottom and was Lifted back up.
Yes.
What do I mean by that?
I believe that they are a "myth," in the sense of unreal, if you want to make them two real people from whom all humankind descend. Even the Bible pokes logical holes in that argument, as it doesn't mention where the wives of the sons of Eve come from.
And yes, I believe Adam and Eve, and the whole story of creation of humanity in scripture, contains profound religious truth for Judaism and Christianity.
Human beings were created in God's image; human sin has messed up the world, and perhaps our very nature (expelled us from Eden), and yet God's care for us remains (expressed by God making "coats of skins" for the couple even while expelling them from Eden).
Thank you so much KrisL for your views. It is an interesting discussion since this story (either true or mythical) is such a foundation for many religions and spiritual ideals.
It Does They were Created before the ADAM as Male and Females they did not disappear on the eighth day they were still there on Earth ADAM /eve were not on earth but in paradise/ the Garden They All were Disallowed the Portal to Heaven Satan Eve Adam
Obviously, a myth. Not based on any religion or doctrine but on what I believe. A friend got very angry at me for saying I didn't believe the myth and also got angry that I don't believe "God" or Spirit is the white man in the sky with a beard who's been depicted so often as God. I understand that she wants to believe those things but why she cares that I don't is totally beyond me.
Thanks Marsei - Definitely agree that we are all entitled to our own beliefs. I appreciate you sharing your insight.
Because of the possibility you could be separated from GOD Forever! The passion that one feels in losing a sibling! For we are all children of the Father and not of any god or God who is but Satan Pretending to be so Called as GOD the Father/ Creator
If it is not true then it has a ripple effect throughout all biblical history. They are tied in, seamlessly, with others whose existence we don't question. The first prophecy in the Bible is Genesis 3:15, foretelling Jesus death on the cross. The passing on of the fallen, sinful nature from one generation to the next. The very need for Jesus to die on the cross and be resurrected. All of these are tied to the reality of Adam and Eve. I for one vote them out of existence.
Cam 8510 - thank you for your input. So, are you saying that even though you see the framework for other biblical prophecy in this story, you personally do not believe it or find it useful in either myth or physical truth?
It was never meant to be taken literally in my opinion.
Jesus death Occurs because of Satan's reserve not to Repent But in the temping of Jesus he is condemned by his own doing and not That of any other For he was the god of this world until Jesus Was born into It! he could have stopped Jesus's Death. And
Joleen,
Before answering, I visited your profile to have an idea of where you are coming from.
It seems we are 'on the same length of wave' as a friend says in her unique English.
I have held various beliefs in my life, from being raised Catholic to practising eastern religions to metaphysical thought.
After a life-changing event, my worldview shifted from metaphysical to being a born again, Bible-carrying Christian for 14 years.
Other life-shaking events brought me around to being true to myself and beginning to live by principles rather than doctrine and dogma.
Over the course of this lifetime, I have viewed Adam and Eve variously as the literal first man and woman, created by God - to powerful mythological symbols.
Presently, I feel that Adam and Eve are allegorical and possibly symbolic of first humans planted on earth.
The story of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and the banishment of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden represent actual events.
We don't know exactly what the events were, but generally a fall in the vibrational rate of earth and humanity into an illusion of separation.
Thank you for this insight. I have reserved my thoughts because I was excited to hear from others, but I similar view and might even add that Eve may have even "freed" us by opening the door to paradox and the gift to choose.
They are not claimed to be in the bible as the first Man or Woman They are But One flesh from their beginning and created ADAM on the Eighth Day and divided him ADAM sometime after ONE Flesh One soul a help Meet not mate the meeting of the minds of
I think they were merely symbols for the spiritual beings (children of God) who fell from grace. In fact, I don't think Eden was a physical garden.
One clue involves the warning God gave -- that Adam would die on the day he ate of the Forbidden Fruit. But did he literally, physically die on that day? No, he didn't. In fact, both Adam and Eve were escorted out of the Garden and Adam supposedly lived for 930 years.
The death was a spiritual one, just as Jesus says that the rebirth must be a spiritual one.
The Forbidden Fruit is based on dichotomy -- good-evil. But there are many other dichotomies -- right-wrong, generous-selfish, wisdom-stupidity, compassion-indifference, confidence-doubt and many more. After careful assessment, it's easy to see that these dichotomies make up the physical, false self we call "ego."
In fact, ego, it seems, is the blindfold we pulled over our spiritual eyes, giving us the "Darkness." Subduing ego with humility, love, responsibility and confidence (faith) will return us to the "Light" of being able to "see" without use of these physical eyes. It will give us the everlasting life that is apparent when the spiritual self maintains continuity of consciousness despite bodily death.
Genesis 5:2 tells us that Adam is both male and female -- a "them." This is a different "Adam" -- the first tribe of humanity.
Through science, we know that the biblical timeline is far too short, but the longevity of the early patriarchs seems outrageous. The clue to the solution is in Genesis 5:2. The ages refer to the eponymous tribes, and they are coded and need a set of factors to multiply them to the correct value. The clues to these factors are also in Genesis.
I discuss this in greater detail in my Genesis series.
Thank you lone77star - Amazing answer. Very comprehensive. I will be looking at your Genesis articles. I find this particular part of the Bible fascinating, historically, methodologically, symbolically, and spiritually. Alot of meat here to chew on!
When Father spoke It was so they were spiritual beings and failed they had the same right as the other 1/3 that also failed to repent or conform the sin is not in the eating but the failure to repent since the fall everything was hinged on repentance

If man originated from one source, Adam and Eve, how come we have white and black people?Adam and Eve were either black or white. And if they really had the same skin color, where do other skin colors originate from. And also, why do we have different races? What really happened to us?
