What happens when one is filled with the Holy Spirit versus the unholy spirit?
Can anyone make the distinction between the Holy Spirit in Scripture and the False Unholy Spirit that has propagated in many churches today?
Making the distinction would be the difference between genuine power of Jesus Christ or the spirit that masquerades as the Biblical one.
And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. - 2 Corinthians 11:14
Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
When we display the fruit of the Spirit, it is not for show or gain. It is the product of obedience to God.
What would be an example of the counterfeit spiritual manifestations that are taking place within the apostate churches?
PlankandNails, I would have to say "learning" to speak in tongues, "holy" speech that isn't followed by proper actions (believing for this and that and peppering speech with "Praise the Lord - then cursing someone)
For me, there is no such thing as unholy. Unawareness perhaps but not unholy.
In saying that they are only just labels used to describe a process.
If you need distinctions it can be viewed like this...One is about self, the other is not.
How would that apply to the Scripture verse quoted?
When one is filled with the Holy Spirit, one is witnessing the awakening of the true self -- the child of God (soul), within.
The false "spirit" is based upon the master of this world, ego -- the heart of selfishness.
Ego is "notice me." Ego is vulnerable. Ego defends itself and must be right or it will suffer.
The true self (child of God) is "anonymous aid to others." The true self is invulnerable and needs no defense, because it is a perfect child of God.
Ego (the created, false self) can perform miracles through the law of attraction, co-opting the Holy Ghost (true self) to do its bidding. But this is upside down. This is the same as the pharaoh's high priests when they threw down their staffs to become snakes. Spirit is superior to the created, so Aaron's staff became a more powerful snake which swallowed up the others.
I like the distinctions that you make.
Maybe this is the difference between what is paranormal and what is supernatural?
There are many different camps in the Church who claim the others are deceived, yet they all claim to have the Holy Spirit. One day perhaps the Church will grow up and realise that so much of what they believe is nothing but manmade fabrications.
By the way, ask a Jew what he thinks satan is, and you'll see that the Christian satan is a pagan superstition propagated by the Church as a method for thought control of the great unwashed.
What it comes down to is what standard you use to make your claims. Just like in areas of law, each situation is applied to a standard to make distinctions between what is legal or illegal. The context of the question is based on the verse I quoted.

Two Christians, both led by the Holy Spirit in understanding. Differ on meanings of the Bible. Who?I stopped trying to determine just who is led by the Holy Spirit. I take folks at their word. But they differ. The 4 Gospels differ per perspective. Isn't this just clear as a bell that God works...

How do we know if we understand the correct context when we study the Holy Bible?I have often wonder why we sometimes if not often misunderstand the context of chapters and/or verses when we study God's word. One can read a verse or chapter a number of times believing they understand it's meaning ,...
