My son was standing in the kitchen the other day and he said that something moved his shirt collar up and down several times. At the time he was being a bit rebellious and uncooperative in terms of doing homework and such. I am not sure what it was but his explanation of the incident was very convincing. Since then he has been walking around hoping that it wall happen again.

I explained to him that if it was a spirit it was not a devious one but one that intended to help him in some way. I told him it was probably his grandmother who loved him very much.

Spirit has so many ways in which to communicate with us.  It sounds like your son has no trouble believing that his grandmother could be helping him.   : )

Yes, be it as it may, I seem to be the one that family members will go too when they cross over. It never fails. Only one person did not, which I am grateful and that was my husband. He though did communicate afterwards through dreams, but also by being able to accomplish tasks he wanted too after he died. Prior to his death, he was suffering from a terminal illness, he told me he wanted to shut the doors between the kitchen and dinning room after he crossed. He did:)

Isn't it amazing what spirit can do.   About 4 months after my husband passed,  he shut our bedroom door.  He did this of course to let me know that he was with me.  Quite a strong message.  I have also learned to speak with him telepathically.

Lyn...My experiences may not qualify as actually "communicating telepathically,"  but I often have mental conversations with my sister.  I attribute this to the fact that she and I had such an incredibly strong bond and long, deep conversations in life.  I know what she would say, how she would say it, her attitude, etc....therefore I can imagine both sides of the conversation.   They comfort me nonetheless, since I continue to miss her, so desperately.  She and I confided in no one but one another, so I am rather bogged down by things I want to talk to her about.
Obviously, I am creating these moments of communication.
I also have regular, vivid dreams about several loved ones from the other side.  They can ultimately be disturbing because I have no conscious control over my dreams.
In a manner of speaking, I'd give anything to be able to truly communicate in the ways you speak of..............

Paula -  I think you "do" communicate with your sister. When those thoughts come into your mind,  they are often "not your conscious thoughts".  I believe, with your bond, that your sister would very much be trying to speak with you through thoughts.

No I have to agree with Paula here. She knows that she's creating and controlling the thoughts that create and sustain the 'conversations' she has with her sister.

You are smart enough to know what is real and what isn't real Paula.

It took a lot of time in the beginning for me to figure out exactly what "communicating telepathically" meant. I had to decipher what it felt like, was it my voice, was it his? Luckily for me, my darling loved to communicate through songs, so this became an important form of learning. All mixed in were the dream-visits and the manipulated thoughts...the manipulated thoughts...became the utmost form of intrigue.

With a close friend, I recently shared a view I acquired pertaining to "free-will" and "manipulated thought" (aka telepathy). At the time it was my belief that this thing man calls free-will is all but an illusion. Because of the extent of ease for Chip to push thoughts into my head that weren't my own , to talk to me whenever he wanted to, I believed free-will couldn't possibly exist. (Shhhh, don't ever tell anyone you question free-will...it's worse than a debate about politics...or religion. Ha!)

Much to my surprise, her words shook me up a bit. Hearing her response would mean I'd have to believe in "soul agreements" or "soul contracts" for this next part to be true (and I do), but I found it fascinating to travel a new line of questions that developed quite rapidly.

She said, "What if you and Chip had this agreement you made with each other before entering this life where you gave him carte blanche to do anything he had to do to get your attention. It didn't matter what it was he had to do, you gave him permission to do it. If this were true—your theory of free-will would be incorrect, yes?"

She certainly had me thinking. And although agreements, contracts, and free-will have nothing to do with your question, Lynda, (so sorry), for me, telepathy still makes me question all of the above.

But I still LOVE it so...

Hmm!   But does spirit speaking with us this way necessarily negate free will?  We both agree we have been able to communicate with our loves this way.  We will have to discuss further  Agree on preplanning but still feel I have free will.

No because there is no such thing.

I think when people think they have experienced communication with the spirit world, it's purely a result of their imagination and/or wishful thinking.

No, because it's not possible and I believe my mother is with God. When she died, she was GONE. That's all there is too it. I felt the energy of her spirit leave her body as she died, like a warm rush of air rising up, and then it was gone. She was gone. We were so close, and although I've had dreams of her, they are mostly about her still being alive and suffering and stress (she died of cancer--initially breast but then it ended up spreading all over and finally to her brain).

I don't "feel her presence" at all, I just have fond memories and have things around me that remind me of her and help me remember what being in her presence felt like.

She was also psychic, and could often predict things that would happen or could somehow sense how I was feeling without me even telling her. We had such a close mother-daughter bond, closer than most I've seen, so if there was a way to communicate with her spirit it would have happened.

She is gone. Anyone who claims that there is a way  to communicate with a loved one's spirit is probably communicating with a bad spirit that is impersonating them, or it's all in their mind. Anyone who claims they can help people communicate with the dead are con-artists, exploiting the emotions of those who have lost loved ones. Look at John Edwards, he is such a phony.

It's neat that we all have our own opinions.  For me I know my husband's spirit is with me.  We had a very close bond that did not die with his passing.  And I am healthy and well - no bad spirits here - or I would be in trouble!  Proof endless love.
