Would you rather have Jesus than all the riches of this world?

Salvation is a choice so is deciding to follow Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour. But how many are willing to drop all they have and follow our Lord?

It's easy to say yes, I love my Lord and Savior more than anything in this world. It's another thing to really do it. It's gotta come from the very depths of your being if we are to follow our Lord, He wants all of us, not just part of us. And He can never be fooled. He knows each heart.
I cannot get enough of His word, it is full of HIs love, inspiration, wisdom, prophecy that is alive and thrilling. He walks with me daily as I walk with Him. He talks with me daily and I talk with Him. He is my best friend who really does listen when I talk to Him, who really does care and who comes through for me with lessons of life and love and helps me stay humble and teachable. I've given up alot and will continue to do so for Him and His cause. He died for me and I will die for Him if I must to be a testimony and witness for Him.
It never ceases to amaze me how little and weak and helpless we are, just little caterpillars crawling on His earth, yet He died for us so someday we can see His face and live with Him eternally. He is so great and we are so small, He loves us, how can we not give our all to Jesus Christ our dear Savior?
I am His sheep and He is my Shepherd~what could ever be better than that?
I don't deserve it, but neither do any of us, yet He cares for us. Let's give our all to Him and pray He come soon and bring His kingdom with Him! Oh! How this world needs it!

Yes, most definitely! Everything in this world fades in style and value, and this world offers no real happiness or satisfaction. People drive themselves into debt and stress trying to keep up with the trends and fashions of the world, and then society is all about these talkshows and drama series but they ignore their own lives. Don't each of us have enough issues within ourselves and our jobs and what else have you, than to be interested in that stuff? These people do not care about you, save only that your money is making them rich. It's amazing how it seems the people who actually work hard and honestly for their income never make much at all: But then the ones that sit nice and pretty on a talkshow or who bring their fake whiney selves onto television, that they are the ones who make millions! And for WHAT?! Soldiers overseas dodge bullets everyday and make hardly nothing, but an athlete makes super money for running a ball up and down the court. For you sports fans, respect. Then Hollywood publishes magazines about petty crap that they whine about when REAL people out in the world have super huge problems.
"They shall build houses and inhabit them" (Isaiah 65:21)
"Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love Him" (1 Corinthians 2:9)
"Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life" (Revelation 2:10)
"They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My Holy Mountain" (Isaiah 11:9)"
"Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth
had passed away. Also there was no more sea" (Revelation 21:1)
Jesus IS coming again; no one knows when (Matthew 24:36), but Jesus left us
all signs to help us know that it isn't that far away:
"For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be..Then if anyone says to you 'Look, here is the Christ!', or, 'There!', do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, the very elect. See I have told you beforehand. Therefore if they say, 'Look, He is in the desert!', do not go out; or, 'Look! He is in the inner rooms!', do NOT believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For wherever the carcass is, there will the eagles be gathered together." (Matthew 24:21,23-28

I have to agree with you, I actually have use for celebs. What gets me is when they publicly ask for money to help the poor. Um help them yourselves and while they are at it, help the others that need it. usually when they help its for show only .

This would be easiest to answer, since The Lord Jesus became my everything early in my childhood, when I didn't know the term" riches of the word " meaning. The lifestyle my parents lived was being fully satisfied with " all we had" , our daily bread, and faith in God. Later in my life, up to this very moment, walking with God, living righteously, knowing/ doing His will is never questioned ,as to be substituted with anything else in the world.  It's so simple, no explanation, no compromise : the Love of God/for God, is real/different kind of love  we are told by worldly standard what " love" is . However, to my understanding, we can only share " love " with others, including the family and relatives after we've experiencing the LOVE of God. Consequently , only our Faith in Jesus Anointed One is certain assurance of the life eternal, not all the riches of the world. He is more than enough, as long as I'm faithful unto the end.

Jesus said you can have the riches. 3 John 1:2  Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. Philipians 4:19   But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Apparently people can have both. Looking at the supernatural powers that Jesus has, I don't think money would be a problem. John 10:10:   I am come that they might have and enjoy LIFE and have it in abundance, to the full, till it overflows.

In this case, concerning 3 John 1:2 isn't what Jesus said, rather Jodn " the elder" conveying a wish to Gaius that this letter might find him well and in good health. There are several words in this verse mistranslated.
First of all, John is not sta

He definitely said "with God, all things are possible". There can be no dispute on that truth.

Jesus has helped our family through many trials and tribulations. I cannot see how I could have done better without Him. So for me and my family, we would rather have Jesus than any riches of the world. Being poor of spirit and of riches only makes one closer to Him. --Deb

The perfect decision, magnificent testimony. Wit The Lord Jesus , the Anointed One, the Son of the Most a high God, the God Himself you do have ( all we hawing faith in Him ) - do have all we need, plus the life everlasting , which can't be purchased

If the average person would read what the Jesus preached prior to 325 then they could have both riches and he at the same time. He taught that all the answers are in   you, the kingdom of heaven is within  you. So, this seem to imply that we have all the riches it we would only look inside of ourselves.

Very true. It's here " seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness, and these will all be given you in addition ." ( Matt.6: 33 ; 25--32 says what's all about.) To receive requires faith and obedience, to know what is " right"-eousnes and apply it

Your question implies that the two are mutually exclusive. I like to think that Jesus is a Lord of Plenty and Abundance. Remember the loaves and fishes? wink
I believe that when you are following your life's purpose, your Heavenly Father will take care of all your material needs. You only need to ask in the name of his Son. Remember: "Ask and you shall receive" ?
Recently, an acquaintance made the remark that, now that I am transitioning from my rather lucrative career into a new one which I consider to be my life's purpose, I just might be able to earn enough to be comfortable. To my own surprise, I found myself saying, "On the contrary, now that I'm following my life's purpose, I expect to thrive and not merely survive."

Our God, The Lord of plenty, is more than able, willing  and generous to give us what we need , while we continue in His will. No one having faith in Him was put to shame because not having. You will be blessed too as a testimony to his faithfulness.

Though I may have all the riches in the world, if I do not have the clemency, forbearance and the other positive attributes of Jesus, I am still not a complete person. God's sanctuary is a bulwark against all the perils that money brings.

This is the difference between searching for earthly riches or heavenly riches. I believe that if you follow God, you will be given what you need. I believe it is fair to devote as much as you possibly can but I do not believe that one will simply receive and that you would have to do something first, does this not sound true?

Any of you familiar with this hymn?

(verse 1) I'd rather have Jesus than SILVER OR GOLD!
I'd rather have Him than have riches untold.
I'd rather have Jesus than HOUSES OR LANDS!
I'd rather be led by His nail-pierced hand,

(chorus)THAN TO BE THE KING OF A VAST DOMAIN,
OR BE HELD IN SIN'S GREAT SWAY!
I'd rather have Jesus than ANYTHING
    this world affords today.

(verse 2) I'd rather have Jesus than MEN'S APPLAUSE!
I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause.
I'd rather have Jesus than WORLDWIDE FAME!
I'd rather be true to His holy name,

(chorus)THAN TO BE THE KING OF A VAST DOMAIN,
OR BE HELD IN SIN'S GREAT SWAY!
I'd rather have Jesus than ANYTHING
    this world affords today.

I wonder what the author was thinking???
