Are you absorbed in world or in God ?

It is an unique phenomenon that some people are utterly engrossed in worldly affairs and give utmost importance to their physical needs and never care for the other world,God,religion and  spirituality. On the other hand, there are people who remain deeply immersed in religious rituals, thoughts,God and spirituality and neglect the world. Both assume their way of life as an ideal. Still there are other people who are a blending of both- half worldly and half Godly. Who do you think is on a right course among these three streaks of humanity ?

The spiritual is the priority for me because it precedes the material. In fact, without the spiritual, there can be no material. The inner must come before the outer. An interesting fact about the material, although entertaining, it is an illusion. Most people don't realize it until old age or the end of their life. It's just a collection of memories. Hope you had fun. Now the reality creeps in. What's next? What was really important? What really mattered? Outside of the spiritual, not much.

It is a fact that realization dawns very rarely  that everything attached to physical world is a distraction. Thanks for your response, Sri T.

I am absorbed in both the world and in God in that our good planet was very much created by God. How can one look at an Alaskan glacier and not feel the presence of God?

You are one with creation and creator and thus imbibe a true essence to enjoy tremendous bliss reserved for all beings. Thanks a lot, dear.

I believe that we should be following both ways, since there is not a certainty of the after life, as most religions want us to believe, and at the same time there are also a few things that are hard to explain in this world without thinking about God or other spiritual entities.

Frank, you are the third one and even Krishna in Geeta says that one who is balanced in everything he does such as enjoying, eating, acting, waking and sleeping etc. gets ultimate peace of mind. Good response, thank you very much.

Absorbed into God, however, we are to enjoy life of the world through spiritual discernment.

Your streak is first one. You sprinkle spirituality and divinity on physical aspect of our existence, so nice bent of mind. You are the person who is able to turn black side of life into white and shining as star. Your approach is wonderful.

I am sure you have your answer already in mind. In my opinion, if God wanted us "absorbed" with him we would be there. God put us in the world, and I don't think he did it so we could be doing rituals trying to be elsewhere.

SylviaSky, open your heart. You have a lot to learn about God and His Kingdom. Absorbed is just another word used but we all are products of God 's creation no matter how you see things or feel.

It is nice that you have selected a second path for yourself but at the same time you have accepted it as a gift from God. If you dwell on this one of the most precious of gems , you will get an unique and unexpected delight in everything around you.

For me, the first streak is scary; I need God in my life.  The second is irresponsible; we cannot impact the world if we neglect. it.  I recommend a reasonable balance for the third streak.

For believers, spirituality overrides our secular lives, because God has first place in our hearts.  Our thoughts, attitudes, actions, deportment and everything else is influenced by our spirituality.

That said, the cares of life sometimes distract me and I always long for more intimacy with God.  Being more absorbed in the Word is a lifetime goal for me.

MsDora, Krishna in Geeta has dwelt upon the third aspect very elaborately but with the condition that we must maintain a fine balance between the things of the word and the things beyond,it is called Yoga or right assimilation. I like your response.

This is a very good topic discussion. I will not judge others, only my personal experiences. I know in my head I live in a world that glorfies murder, sex with more than one person, drugs. And all things that bring a person down and lead them to the path of pain, heartache and sometimes isolation. I see things, lived things and from the time I was a child. I knew there had to be more. The world is getting darker in my eyes. And I see the people I love and use to respect, get cold in their hearts and they seem to be a stranger, I use to love.

I try to focus on my spirituality, and I soak up as much good as I can, because I know that the time is coming. The days are shorter, things are speeding up in being destructive, hateful. Men will lie to you for the sake of continuing the need for more sign ups, to do more evil, hate. The darkness is fighting to not reach the time when they will be held accountable like me and the rest of us.

The dark ones know the days are numbered, shorter. If humanity would follow what makes them have purpose, a reason to feel so good when you wake up. Then there will always be hope. When one holds themself accountable for what they do, say and act. Then a ripple happens. It will be a matter of time, before the ripple will make a wave.  Hope I wasn't too wordy.

    Shalom

Jo_Goldsmith11, I see that with a deep concentration, you are at this world and the things happenings in it, the more you dwell upon these, the more insightful you become to see the reality. You are into second stream and I love your penetration, dear

My world is my spiritual path leading to God.  This includes various ways including soul development and daily meditation.  Further, it includes sensing into the energy of God's Presence.  It's easy to live in the world, but not of the world, when we know the Truth of who we are.  Great question.

They are ALL right..... let me try to explain.

The world is a place showing us contrasts. Contrasting experiences we learn from. As we awaken, we learn we are in fact, creating the contrasts with our very thoughts. What ever we focus our attention on, becomes our reality.
In truth we are not separate from God, source or what ever name you wish to give him/it. We ARE it. We are "Thinking centers in a thought world" so to speak.
Once we recognize the fact that, "we create our experiences with our own thoughts," then the fun and challenging game of learning how to keep ones thoughts "ONLY" only on that which we wish to create, begins.
    Enjoy the game. Be Happy!

In spite of your support to all three angles of living, I am sure that you belong to second category and from that perspective you have your gaze fixed on two other streams. You love the world with an insight of an spiritual person. Thanks a lot.

Yes, Neil, what you say is very true, unless one transforms this whole living as a kind of great learning and amusement, real mirth and bliss do not surface. And of course, I am very glad and happy to live & love this life and God also.
