Wonderful question ,it is true if you were to buy a great novel you would enter a journey of the mind. You would go some place with the minds eye. Most great Authors of famous books reach many readers, many times without graphics because you supply that for yourself. We have the greatest book of all time that has stood through out generations of humans. Many have tried to get rid of it ,instead now any one can have access to to it as a personal copy. that makes it a special book it is the only book that is said to be inspired by Almighty God himself. He used secretaries to write his thoughts. The Author name is YHWH,  that name in Hebrew is Jehovah.
His purpose was to make a paradise home for all humans in a clean a happy environment of true happiness ,Without sickness and death.

The theme of the book  (Bible ),Is his right to rule over his own creations. Without the interference of opposers, meaning any rebellious Angelic force, or any human .This is called his Universal Soverienty .
We have lived with out Gods interference since the fall of Adam and Eve.
What condition is the earth in under satan's rulerships of the many nations and Goverments in history prove the truth.
Not a good picture. You name it it is a problem.
Now to the point of wiping all human life off the planet.
With all that in mind .
The will of God is a paradise ,that is what he gave in the beginning
No one has the power to stop his purpose and will for all his creation he loves them very much.
    He is infinite in power.

He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces. The reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, For Jehovah himself has spoken it.

Good question to ponder. I'm not sure we are meant to understand God's will as much as we are meant to accept it. As hard as it is sometimes, we don't have much choice but to accept what happens and use the comfort of his words and the love and support of family and friends to the live with what has occurred.
To this day, I still don't understand "God's will" regarding my brother's tragic death. I still struggle with it as I accept the reality of it. It's too big for my mind to understand the will of God in taking him the way he did, but I accept God's will in finding peace for my brother, even if I'm not at peace with it. However, God is good and brings me peace daily as life goes on. Sorry for the ramble but my short answer is we can never fully understand the mystery of God's will, only learn to accept and live with it.

I understand what you are saying and I too have had loved ones to die ,feeling helpless. But I had questions why!  And I got my answers.
First death is God's enemy .Reference Bible 1Co 15:26 As the last enemy, death is to be brought to nothing.

It comes to us in the form of the Inner Pilot; the voice of Conscience. A clear but sometimes quiet voice within. We need to learn to listen. Sometimes it's very clear and at other times we 'think' it's clear but are wrong. The other way is when we know clearly what to do but go against it and suffer a consequence which we thought might happen.

Prayer, both interior and verbal, or meditation will eventually reveal God's Will. A life of service to others - without conditions -  will expand our hearts and cause us to grow inwardly. Prayer must be daily and regularly at set times or close enough. With practice it becomes easier, and the voice of Conscience, which is always talking, will become easier to discern.

God's Will,  always leave us with a sweet feeling and sense of relief, once it's done, as it's always for the greater good. Hope this helps.

      Why death is his enemy
.Reference Bible Mt 22:32 ‘I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob’? He is the God, not of the dead, but of the living.”
he is the God of the living ,many will return to their families.Acts 24:15

Understand the true meaning of love. Take out all measure of self-concern.

Also, remember that God created man (us) in His image and likeness and He is not Homo sapiens. Everything to do with these bodies is secondary. The true, spiritual self is what matters. But we awaken that spiritual self by being loving, even with these bodies.

If you love your neighbor as yourself, without any self-concern, then you are eliminating the separation of ego. You are bringing us together. If you love your enemies as yourself, then you are truly healing the world.

Once you do this, then you can understand the will of God, because you will be changing your form to match His.
