   "For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
   Verily I say unto you, There be "some standing here", which shall not taste of death*, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom." Matt 16:27-28
   ...  So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, "This generation" shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled." Matt: 24:30-34
   Doesn't, "some standing here, this generation" mean he has already returned during those times?

   Yes, he has already came, fulfilled prophecy, crucified, and has risen from the dead to join his father (God) in Heaven. The verses you are talking about refer to the second coming of Christ. This is when he will come to get his children (those who have accepted him) to take them home before the great tribulation.

   if we read the last chapter of John and of Luke, we see Jesus eating and interacting with "some standing here" from Matthew 16.   He was alive, resurrected and now the Kingdom of God has come and some of them saw Him come in His Kingdom which He has brought to earth and as His true disciples were possessors of the kingdom of God.   .
   Matthew 24 is talking about the return of Christ and does not mention the kingdom which is already here, but the coming (2nd) of Christ to be with His saints on the earth.
