Probably nearest thing in the bible is Acts chapter 9 verse 3 and 4.

In charismatic and pentecostal christian churches the concept of being "slain by the Spirit" means that the power of God is so strongly affecting the person that they are overcome.

There are several verses in the bible in which we see examples of people being over come by the presence of God. However, there are no examples that I have found that's preceded by a prophet, pastor, priest or teacher tapping someone on the forehead or laying hands on a person in any way.

That being said, the question becomes "can a person have such a strong religious experience of God's presence that they are overcome?" I believe that answer is yes. we see examples of this is matthew chapter 28 and john chapter 18.

The purpose of the christian church from the beginning was to bring people to the point where they could be in a relationship their creator. the problem is, esspecially in American Christian churches, some teachers and congregations are prone to sensationalism and showmanship rather than building that relationship.
