Have you ever felt like God has broken His promise?
Have you ever felt that you have trusted God so much, kept all his commands, and made a genuine request to him and made a deal. Being so convinced that God would come through for you, keeping to his side of the deal as you keep to yours. Then the time comes for you to get whatever you hoped for only to realize that whatever you were expecting isn't forthcoming. You analyze the past and can not pinpoint any single point you fell short of your side of the deal. When that happens, what is normally the problem and how do you handle it. Does it shake or even erode your faith in Him?
In my experience the things withheld which we desire are the very things which would have brought us great suffering. There have been times when I was granted my "wish"(it's not really a prayer when linked to desire) and sure enough I was shown almost fatal consequences. This increased my faith that God was trying to protect me from my own stupidity. My so called genuine call to God was in fact selfish foolishness but I couldn't see it.
Desires of various kinds have a woeful reputation on any spiritual path. Take Buddhism which warns about the foolishness of desires.
Also God is not a genie in a bottle.
The Hindus say the only beneficial desire is to desire God. So we need to turn our capacity for yearning to the godly path to reap spiritual rewards.
What if you were trusting him for the things your really needed like provision for your rent, school fees, money to do a wedding, good health. Those things you are sure cannot bring bad consequences really. Things you're sure God knows you need
Shadrack , our answers to many prayers are just ahead, under Jesus Administration of his rulership.
All that we need then will be addressed.
1Ti 6:8 So, having food and clothing, we will be content with these things.
Hebrews 13:5 says it all.
I've always had my needs met, even through career problems and joblessness. I never missed a payment but drained my bank acct. I have not had good health, but I don't blame God for bad genetics. If you trust needs to be taken care of, they will be.
Shadrack, I know it's frustrating, and I sympathize. I was frustrated at the time. Looking back, I realize God took care of me and by kids, and I am thankful. We never went hungry or homeless. Love and light to you.
Well Shadrack, you post a very interesting question and many of us can relate to your feelings.
First we can consider some verses that can answer the question.
Heb 11:6 Moreover, without faith it is impossible to please God well, for whoever approaches God must believe that he is and that he becomes the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him.
1 . Are we doubting his existence ?
1Jo 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that no matter what we ask according to his will, he hears us.
2. Are our prayers in harmony with is will ?
Also he hears us, does not mean he will give us what we ask , or at the time we expect it.
He is eternal which means he has forever to do anything.
Ro 1:20 For his invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship,
.
.4. He is not a genie, that is one who just grants wishes under magic.
But he does give gifts that no one can take away.
1 added life or eternal life ,, 2 a future to live and be happy 2Pe 3:13 But there are new heavens and a new earth that we are awaiting according to his promise, and in these righteousness is to dwell..
3 Return of those love ones who are sleeping in death
.Joh 5:28 Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 38,
And when you approach the Heavenly Father are you showing reverence .addressing him properly
Jesus gave us an example to live by.
Mt 6:6 But when you pray, go into your private room and, after shutting your door, pray to your Father who is in secret. Then your Father who looks on in secret will repay you.
Mt 6:7 When praying, do not say the same things over and over again as the people of the nations do, for they imagine they will get a hearing for their use of many words.
Mt 6:9“You must pray, then, this way: “‘Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified.
Do you work in harmony with let your name be sanctified. ?
how can you if you do not know the Fathers personal name.
Here is his personal name .
Ex 3:15 Then God said once more to Moses: “This is what you are to say to the Israelites, ‘Jehovah the God of your forefathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and this is how I am to be remembered from generation to generation.
We are the 21st Century Generation,
well this is a nice perspective. But have you ever been in such a situation?
Ps 145:16 You open your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing
But according to his world, not this one.(John 18:36)
Lu 11:1 8 , if Satan is also divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand?
this is not God's Goverment ,
Why not simply answer the question K & T? Yes, you have or no, you haven't?
Taopi, from a human view it would seem to be the case, but at ,Isa 55:8“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, And your ways are not my ways,” declares Jehovah.
So since this is the case , No he has not broken his promise.
He has forever to give
You are not being very authentic in your reply, but so it goes. *shrugs*
Taopi authentic to your view, I answered correctly, it just not your answer. There can never fairly be yes and no to every question, like love and hate, example , do you hate ?, the answer could be yes, but you do not hate everything.
The question was have you, personally, you, yourself, and YOU, ever felt disappointed, as it were, by God's promise as it pertains to your own experience. Not textual anecdotes to the question. Geez.
Taopi Geez , No ! Better I explained why. Did you read why.
I read your "why", and it had nothing to do with a straight yes or no answer. You've answered no. That's awesome. Discussion over.
Taopi I gave you the answer and more, discussion over.
Parrot. I say Geez, you say Geez. I say discussion over, you say discussion over. I say give a straight answer, you parrot scripture. Parrot much?
Taopi are you irritated over your own words, I wonder why.
Peace to you.
That's a clever manipulation on your part to say I appear irritated by your parroting rather than amused by it, but sorry, it doesn't work. You may certainly have the final word if you wish. It makes no difference to me.
I like the trend this question is taking. What is your take on all theses Taopi?
Honestly. Shadrack, I have been through this more times than I would like to admit. However, my advice is God always works on His time, not ours. It may seem like He broke His promise, but He didn't. Whatever God promises, He will deliver in due time. The reason why you feel like this is because you're human and you don't fully understand the wonders of God. Remember, the truest believer was once the biggest doubter. Do you remember the story of Saul who became Paul? I want you to take a look at his story. It begins in the book of Acts.
Hopefully, everything will work out fine.
Thanks for the great insight. Just going through such an episode n it sure is hard to comprehend.
Shadrack your question may be anyone's experience , but not the case at all. Isa 55:8“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, And your ways are not my ways,” declares Jehovah.
The same as a newbaby can not comprehend the language of his parents.
I guess most people have felt like that at some time. But, I learned that even no answer is an answer, it just means no. I also learned that God knows better then I do about what I need. He promised never to leave us nor forsake us and He doesn't and won't. People leave God and forget about Him and that separates us from God, but, it's our doing now His. Also sometimes His promise comes through but later then we expect it. God knows just the right timing.
well sometimes it happens when you know or think He should do something here and now or else something could go completely wrong.
BRAD a promise was made in our behalf, Notice,
Tit 1:2 and is based on a hope of the everlasting life that God, who cannot lie, promised long ago;
We have been promised to live forever, but only if we accept the invitation through accurate truth.
Sometimes a person's soul contract leads them on a different path than that desired by one's ego. Then the unenlightened person blames God for not keeping a promise (that was never made).
MizBejabbers mmm... I think you have a point.
Brad YHWH, Tetragrammaton in Hebrew and Greek Represents Jehovah , in our Language spoken, he is the one who created all things
Isa 45:12 ,I made the earth and created man on it.,
Ps 83:18May people know that you, whose name is Jehovah.
bradmasterOCcal the higher intelligence that created the universe. The promise He assures His followers like good health, a successful wedding, marriage, peace etc..
You think that was a promise? If it was a promise, it never materialized. Quoting dead people, gone for over 2000 years is not meaningful. As the sales mgr says to his sales people, what have you done for me today!
bradmasterOCcal he is not Dead, he is very a live. And be sure you will prove that one day.
The people that wrote the two bibles are Dead. The world was evil in the beginning, and it continues today. Today, followers of a God are killing and injuring other followers of a God, just because they don't believe in their God.
bradmasterOCcal just like fake doctors, fake tutors and fake writers, there too are fake followers and that doesn't mean that there are genuine ones.
So are you saying that the scribes of the two bibles are fakers?
I don't think that's what I meant really. I just meant there are fake people almost everywhere. That doesn't mean there are no genuine ones.
Shadrack, God doesn't make bargains with humans. I don't know why people think so. Sometimes when a person wants something so bad and makes all these promises to the entity he thinks of as "God", he is deluding himself to believe that God has promised him something back. All God has promised to do is to take care of his followers. Taking care means survival, but it does not include granting wishes.
Sometimes we have to go through personal tragedies as learning experiences. I know because I've been there and done that, but I have survived. I know that isn't what you want to hear but it is so.
MizBejabbers does that mean that God never promises us anything? and that we shouldn't assume that he has promised any specific thing?
Yes. God doesn't promise us a good marriage or that our sick mother will live. If God made bargains, we would not have free will. Most times God leaves it up to us to get ourselves out of the situations we get into.

If God would give you His complete power for 24 hours what would you do with it?I have pondered this question the first time when I was a kid. And I must have change my answer maybe 50 times or so since then. Not that I expect something like this to ever to really happen to someone. But if I...

Have you ever felt a strong conviction in your life? That you feel like your going out of your mind.I have heard the word conviction but never really felt what it meant until 2013. It was a strong conviction from GOD . It was one of the worst feeling I have ever had in my life. It's un-explainable...
