we need more religious discussions in the forums, and less politics.
Go.
Problem is that unless two people are from the same set of believers there isn't much to say. Others talk about reality and truth, believers talk about personal belief and unsupported faith.
For some people, belief is based on reality and truth.
Doubt you will find many believers basing their faith on reality and truth. That's why it is called "belief" rather than "knowledge".
Argh. No, no, no. Many people look at the reality we live in and see no viable conclusion other than God. Others come to no viable conclusion other than absence of God. Both conclusions are belief.
I'm not going to go into the knowledge statement since neither had knowledge when it comes to the answers.
"Both conclusions are belief."
Applause. Both are belief. But "see no viable conclusion other than God" is telling, for neither belief nor disbelief should be based on ignorance. Not knowing how/why an event occurred is insufficient reason to declare the existence of God. Knowledge of reality does not come from not knowing, but wanting to know, so make up an answer and declare it to be true because one is ignorant of reality.
I'm not sure I see the difference between knowledge versus reality and truth. But maybe we have a problem with a difference in definitions.
Knowledge comes from correctly perceiving reality and truth. Belief comes from wanting an answer, not having one so making one up.
Of course there is a middle ground (isn't there always) where some evidence is available but not enough to declare knowledge. The world is, and always will be, gray to us for we will never have infinite knowledge.
Nah, we need more discussions about ice cream, heavy metal music, and horror movies.
And Pop Tarts. Not enough people are outraged by the Pop Tart company cutting back on the filling. The crust has become very dry, too.
Same problem with Dairy Queen Blizzards. They used to have a lot more candy and cookie filling. Not anymore. Outrageous.
Switch to toaster strudel. You won't be disappointed.
I did! A world of difference. Curses on Pop Tarts.
I didn’t realize anyone over the age of 12 still ate pop tarts.
Absolutely. It's especially popular with people who are regressing emotionally after turning 60 years old.
I love them, but I have to avoid them since I know I have Celiac. I haven't tried the gluten free ones. For the price, I doubt they would be worth the money.
Silly girl, a box of Pop Tarts is great for the munchies.
No,no, no. I tried Toaster Strudels. They are good, but they are a different animal. Pop Tarts are a unique product. Not a great product, (you're right Toaster Strudels are better tasting), but a unique one. Kind of like comparing a fresh Hardees burger to a grocery store frozen section burger.
[EDIT ADDED] Holy cow! I just saw that the topic is supposed to be "Religious Discussions." Oh well, my last toasted Pop Tart did look like a vague image of Jesus, so maybe that counts as being on topic.
I've found that some off-brand/store brand Pop Tart knock offs actually have more filling/icing than the real deal. This was a revelation.

Besides the belief in a higher power, what other differences separate non-believers and believers? What is the agenda of either side?

Do you believe that making this world a better place by the life they live is something that could be considered a worthwhile pursuit by atheists and theists alike? How do these two groups differ in the practice of that pursuit? Is the difference if any explainable by their belief or...

I normally pay no attention to religious discussions. Partially because people tend to loose their minds when the "R" word is mentioned. However, due to recent attention from the media on religious people who make fools of themselves by way of ridiculously over zealous beliefs that make...

I just wanted to say a big thank you to all my religious friends here. I guess I have been wondering and asking myself whether I made the right choices for a while. You - know - could I be wrong? Is there really a god? Those sort of questions. Well, you have helped me to answer those questions, for...

Why are the aethists so interested in religion?

If we heard about something similar today (someone's body goes missing, then three days later someone Tweets they saw the person), wouldn't we just call it a conspiracy theory?Indeed, if most major religions were started today, wouldn't we just call them a combination of fake news, conspiracy...
