Check this out ladies:
1Timothy 2:11
"Let a woman learn in silence with full submission.
I permit no woman to teach or have authority of man; she is to keep silent."
Golly The OT and the qur'an seem to have alot in common.
what'cha think?
women get plenty of bad rap in the bible - had to leave the camp when menstruating, they were the one that first sinned, they are the adulteresses, etc
..truly!..natural bitches!
How did this "god thing" come up with such comical but ostracizing action toward "its" beloved children?
What an amazing god thing!....lmao! :-)
where did the concept of the "weaker sex" come from? Surely from religion?
Not really. It came from men. Men have a natural tendency to be protectors. Given equal everything, men are much stronger physically than women. Or haven't you noticed?
Has anything changed in the Middle East since the Old Testament was compiled?
Just saw on TV about a sect (cult?) called Quiverfull, where the women are baby factories, even if it puts their lives at risk, producing very large families, and they have to agree with everything their husband says
The Duggars are Quiverfull. It's not really a sect, just a movement within fundamentalist Christianity that believes birth control is a type of abortion and wants to breed an army for God.
There may come a day when the gov't controls everything including including insemination, birth and death.
How about surrogate mothers whose sole purpose in life is to carry human fetus's.
The gov't controlled genetics programming will control the numbers of births and the kinds of humans to be born.
Sounds like science fiction but the possibility exists.
Eventually, if we humans survive, a powerful 1 world gov't will necessarily have to be in control and population growth will be a major focus.
At the moment, we humans are "absolutely" out of control!
Ok...you are right...
My bad.
Apologies are due.
...and here I thought I was perfect! arghhhh...lol
Michael you picked that up quickly! Are you a fundie "thumper?"
lol, no...thought you might want to correct that before someone else does that wouldn't be nice. :-) Thought it might have been a typo. We all have done that before. I did "once."
Do ya think Palin has read this? God'll punish her fer sure! lol :-)
I didn't see a question with the OP.
Read a little deeper and saw what looked like a temper tantrum.
No rational intent.
No substance!
I reiterate: "Hahaha...the "fundies" won't touch this one! rotflmao!"
BAiley:
This "imaginary" biblical god thing ordered the destruction of a city and all inhabitants but virgin females which he gave to his soldiers to do with as they wished.
Numbers 31:
"15 And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive?
16 Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.
17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
18 But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves."
So?
What has the world learned from all this?
People smuggling, child prostitution, sex slavery. Not going on in our HIGHLY secular and rational world is it? Must be propaganda on TV. These things don't go on, do they? Oh we hear lots of noise about clergy abusing kids 25,30,50 yrs ago. (And rightly so), but who are behind all the rest of the atrocities I listed committed by?

I am a christian. Not a very good one but I try my best. The biblical quote I really don't like is " an eye for an eye", I know it has been interpreted as don't overeact but I still don't like it. Seems unchristian. What biblical qoute are you worried about?
