Think about this: God, out of profound love for us allowed his own wonderful, dear son be sacrificed for our sins. He didn't sin one time. He didn't die for himself. He died for us, to save us. This is why he is called the savior. Jesus sacrificed his life to save us from hell, which were prepared for the devil and his angels. Matthew Ch. 25:41. I love unconditionally, inspite of all the false, terrible ridiculing of God and his true holy word I often observe in the forums. I accepted Jesus into my life because of the power of his love, and I have a strong desire to do what is right and to be a humble servant of God. There is no greater love than a man who would lay down his life for our sins. To all the christians: Why did you accept Jesus into your life?

What is so special about a man laying down his life for you ?  Your armed forces are doing it every day, or are prepared to do it, I was prepared to do it - and I don't see it as anything so special.  Do those people out there NOW with guns who are prepared to die for you - love you ?  I don't think so.

Jesus died for our sins, this includes you. His death and resurrection provide the only way to eternal life. I thank God for the armed forces, but they can't provide eternal life for us. Those people out there with the guns may not not love me, but I know someone who does, and his name is Jesus.

You do not know anyone called jesus - there is no such person and may not even have been any such person outside of the god myth.  Any more than there are giant skeletons being dug up in the mid east or noah's ark being dug up on Mt Ararat.  If there IS (or was) such a person then show some proof.  Your delusion is only yours - your myth did not die for me.

yes he did. Much delusion is based on the world and everything in it as being the total sum of existence. The belief that there is nothing beyond the physical is ludicrous. We see pictures of nebulas in space that don't excite us all that much but if we were to see them first hand as they really are, we would have to shake our heads and say unbelievable! yet there they are. We are so picture immune due to tv special effects.
God died for everyone, from the lowest drug addict,  and killer to the nicest tea sipper.
I thank God for salvation. This dispensation of christ is sooo much better than the other. Unfortunately people who blaspheme God and use his name in vain get to live to do it again, but perhaps one day they too will be saved.
With God i am not limited to see touch feel. My world has room for miracles and wonders. It can never and never is, boring.
Enjoy the belief but if a belief does not bring happiness, what good is it?
just another delusion of Satan and a furtherance of devil work. (metaphorically speaking of course)
Proof is my walk but you can't see that. Too bad, it is a good walk full of confidence, shoulders back, giving to the poor, helping the needy, stopping off at elderly homes to offer some cheering up. community breakfasts, special meals. There is so much need.

Because while I was growing up and going to church, I could feel the power of His love whenever I was inside the church.

Not during Sabbath school, not during regular church service - just from being inside the church I could feel a powerful message of love flowing throughout my entire body.  Being in church was the only place this ever happened, and it was only at a specific church. (I've been to a few, but not many)

I used to think it meant the church I was at was the "true" church, but have since come to understand there is no such thing.  But, then, why did I only get the feeling at the one particular church?  I think its because it was the first place I felt that way...but, then again, the church has moved a couple times since then.  Even in the most recent building I had the powerful feeling of Love while waiting for services to begin.

Okay, can't answer that particular why, lol, so I'm only answering the original why. big_smile

I would attend a church, if it was the church of Love, and they gave lessons in love. Jesus wants your salvation by worshipping God and many Christian send their entire life preparing to meet the Lord, how do they know, its not  Lord Satan.

I give love unconditionally by being unattached. For all I have in life is what I give away, with all the condition in the Bible, it would not allow me to give my love to everyone.

There is only one Lord, which is Jesus Christ. The christians are aware of this by reading God's holy word. There are churches that give lessons about love. I will pray that God will direct you to the right church. God loves unconditonally, so the bible will not stop anyone from loving everyone.

unconditional means that 'it' is for everyone. All people. There is not one person that cannot be saved. God says come to him as you are. whosoever. everybody.
What is the 'it'? The 'it' is salvation.

Gods love is behind his offering of salvation. If the salvation is not accepted the love will not be 'known'.
            'Known' means to be experienced.
Matthew 10:32   Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 10:33   But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

does God love all people? Yes. Does that mean He is a doormat? to be walked upon and trampled underfoot, treated poorly and lied about, discredited.. NOPE, therefore did i say Gods love will not be experienced to those that are not His through salvation.

You’re a woman; maybe you understand love is the most important behavior in the world.

That’s salvation is based on blind Faith, obeying without the deep consciousness of loving family world and a friendly world it is, for me.

Love is an attitude of making each other stronger with acts of kindness.
Not by angry, jealously God sending most to hell, mixed with military and politricks Motivate by fear.

blind faith.... yes.... do we continue in blind faith..... nope... What i hear lots of non believers saying is "prove God exists" and what i hear many believers saying is "God exists".  The believers seem to have the proof they need while the NB still look for signs and wonders and proof.
Christ said "Matthew 13:15   For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes THEY have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them".
the Believers have eyes to see and ears to hear while the NB have dull hearing and hearts that have waxed gross and cannot see.
How plain is the difference between the two. But for those who failed a previous attempt, another awaits you, this is gods love, but fall upon the Rock which is christ and submit to God this time round and receive new eyes and ears and heart through the salvation process.
              three cheers for the Believers.

If Jesus was the whole source of love and be all. Most people on the globe who are not aware of Jesus would be not capable of love. True or false?

Fear is the opposite of faith. God gives everyone the ability to love. God doesn't desire for anyone to go to hell. This is why the bible speak about hell so that people will get on the right path. It is another example of God 's love for everyone.

Woman Of Courage Base on what you said

Most of the World’s population is not aware of your God’s faith (Jesus) it would make them totally fearful and totally unfaithful for it opposite of your God’s love.  If this vast majority is totally ignorance of your God desires, my question is.

It’s not their fault for being fearful and going down the wrong and narrow path. Should they burn in hell anyways?
If God dose forgives them, isn’t it lucky for them not to be aware of your God’s love, in the first place?

For the 450 other religions, gays, Jews and atheists who should know better about your God loves. It may give them an express ticket to a deeper level of hell.

            Why, because God love them?

Something funny about Free will and Matthew Ch. 25:41.unconditionally love, who with Paul presented the main first concept of hell.

I wouldn't say most of the World's population  is not aware of God's word. God is using people to share the gospel of his Love and Salvation all over the world. The gospel is shared on tv, radio, internet, word by mouth of his servants, etc. He is making sure everyone hear about his holy word. Not anyone will have a excuse to say they didn't know about his Love and the free gift of salvation.

Rafini, Good question. Yes, there are many passages in the Bible where mankind was told to fear the Lord. It doesn't mean to not put your faith in the Lord. The fear of the Lord, is having an awesome reverence that can only come from knowing him by experiencing his presence and observing his works in our lives. Fearing things other than God is a direct result of lack of faith or doubt. If I don't have faith that I will pass a test, I will experience fear. To my understanding, fear combines with disbelief that I may not receive the results I desire.

Yes that is correct Beelzedad. Here are some examples.

Kill People Who Don't Listen to Priests

Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death.  Such evil must be purged from Israel.  (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)

                  Kill Witches

You should not let a sorceress live.  (Exodus 22:17 NAB)

                  Kill Homosexuals
"If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives."  (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)

                  Kill Fortunetellers
A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death.  (Leviticus 20:27 NAB)

                  Death for Hitting Dad

Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death.  (Exodus 21:15 NAB)

Or are these untrue because they are  "out of context"

I would still like to know about hitler, do you think I will get an opinion from anyone? smile

this is equivalent to someone who skips out on our judicial system. Don't show up for court and see how fast they come after ya. lol. Recall also the time this was given, IN the DESERT, everyone lived in tents and were moving around for 40+yrs. This law and most of what you take out of context or without thought for a reason why, was given while gods people were nomads in a desert. They did NOT have any jail. Can you imagine a tent for a jail.
Almost every OT testament verse, has a spiritual application. When God puts things to death in the OT testament, (talk about instant karma lol) he is also saying these things put to spiritual death each person. This death reminds me that God will not leave the wicked to suffer forever and ever but annihilate, extinguish them  forever and ever, dead, death, done.
Our societies kill people for certain crimes but mostly we put them in jail and spend lots of money, keeping them alive for the 30 plus years they have to go on their life sentence.

The king of babylon was vicious. Israel never liked when they invaded and the persians too were vicious. All the nations back then were vicious, except Gods people. Hitler was vicious. Was hitler more vicious or less vicious i cannot answer truthfully, i do not know. Some part of me doubts hitler was less vicious than the philistines. But let us put that question aside and just read the word of God.
You'll like this, its a famous verse.
John 3:16   For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.
I am not afraid to let God judge Hitlers' heart if he were to pray the sinners prayer. Hitlers life would be tough for obvious reasons but if Hitler were sincere i think (this is not the spirit of god speaking to me but I myself do think thus) that Gods salvation would apply to Hitler.
                                            Nebuchadnezzar received OT salvation
Daniel 4:31   While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.
Daniel 4:33   The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.
Daniel 4:34   And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honored him that lives for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:
Daniel 4:37   Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death. the word strikes does not mean a flippant backhand but a wounding unto death. this involves beating to death, note the word is plural. Also includes smitten of disease or blighted by plants... rubbing poison mushrooms on them? It is not the same word as in ex 20:13 kill.. which means murder the word in ex 21:15 seems to indicate something more sinister.

I like the lev 20:27.  there are no examples of disembodied spirits floating around in the OT. God says where spirits go to be reserved unto judgment day. They cannot be conjured up by some humans power and Gods word plainly says so in the phrase .... they have only themselves to blame... houdini discredited these types of people fervently during his lifetime. They are charlatans having only themselves as liars and deceivers to blame.

the rest can likewise be refutted and i am sure they have been previously.

Love is not love when it is conditional.

There is no love in any religion!

They all have CONDITIONAL love. You can be loved if you believe in a god and obey it is not love.

The bible and quoran are hate filled tomes, no love to be found in either of them.

    More of god's "love"

The LORD is a jealous God, filled with vengeance and wrath.  He takes revenge on all who oppose him and furiously destroys his enemies!  The LORD is slow to get angry, but his power is great, and he never lets the guilty go unpunished.  He displays his power in the whirlwind and the storm.  The billowing clouds are the dust beneath his feet.  At his command the oceans and rivers dry up, the lush pastures of Bashan and Carmel fade, and the green forests of Lebanon wilt.  In his presence the mountains quake, and the hills melt away; the earth trembles, and its people are destroyed.  Who can stand before his fierce anger?  Who can survive his burning fury?  His rage blazes forth like fire, and the mountains crumble to dust in his presence.  The LORD is good.  When trouble comes, he is a strong refuge.  And he knows everyone who trusts in him.  But he sweeps away his enemies in an overwhelming flood.  He pursues his foes into the darkness of night.   (Nahum 1:2-8 NLT)

This is not love, it is psychosis!

I think this is called a slaughterfest

Stand in silence in the presence of the Sovereign LORD, for the awesome day of the LORD's judgment has come.  The LORD has prepared his people for a great slaughter and has chosen their executioners.  "On that day of judgment," says the LORD, "I will punish the leaders and princes of Judah and all those following pagan customs.  Yes, I will punish those who participate in pagan worship ceremonies, and those who steal and kill to fill their masters' homes with loot.  "On that day," says the LORD, "a cry of alarm will come from the Fish Gate and echo throughout the newer Mishneh section of the city. And a great crashing sound will come from the surrounding hills.  Wail in sorrow, all you who live in the market area, for all who buy and sell there will die.  "I will search with lanterns in Jerusalem's darkest corners to find and punish those who sit contented in their sins, indifferent to the LORD, thinking he will do nothing at all to them.  They are the very ones whose property will be plundered by the enemy, whose homes will be ransacked.  They will never have a chance to live in the new homes they have built.  They will never drink wine from the vineyards they have planted.  "That terrible day of the LORD is near.  Swiftly it comes – a day when strong men will cry bitterly.  It is a day when the LORD's anger will be poured out.  It is a day of terrible distress and anguish, a day of ruin and desolation, a day of darkness and gloom, of clouds, blackness, trumpet calls, and battle cries. Down go the walled cities and strongest battlements!  "Because you have sinned against the LORD, I will make you as helpless as a blind man searching for a path.  Your blood will be poured out into the dust, and your bodies will lie there rotting on the ground."  Your silver and gold will be of no use to you on that day of the LORD's anger.  For the whole land will be devoured by the fire of his jealousy.  He will make a terrifying end of all the people on earth.   (Zephaniah 1:7:18 NLT)

Yep! Sweet and loving god eh? Have any of you actually read the book? smile

Love and fear rule the world, and greed and jealousy.
Religion is  brainwashing in its purest form. The most effective way to gain the cooperation is through subversive manipulation of the mind and feelings of the victim, who then becomes a psychological, as well as a physical, prisoner. These methods form the core of brainwashing. Very easy when started in childhood.

for the awesome day of the LORD's judgment has come

Everything, Gods entire work (caused by adam and eve) hinges on this day. You see, God is doing an ETERNAL work in his people. What God does here with the sanctification of his people will last FOREVER, which is a very very long time. Let's hear from a christian shall we?

Pastor Fred W. Phelps of the Westboro Baptist Church is being named The Retard of the Month for his bigotry against homosexuals, for his sexism, for his xenophobic statements against several countries, and for publicly showing disrespect and lack of sympathy towards victims of many accidents, natural disasters, murders and terrorist acts, including but not limited to the World Trade Center bombing on the 11th of September, 2001.

Christians generally oppose homosexuals acts, but this man takes his views to the extreme and actually advocates the death penalty for homosexuals acts.  He and his congregation, mainly composed of family members, have organized thousands of pickets at various locations both in and outside of the U.S.A., in the last 10 years, preaching their hateful drivel against homosexuals and virtually anyone who disagrees with their insane religious beliefs or actions.  During a demonstration, they display signs containing "GOD HATES FAGS", "THANK GOD FOR AIDS", "FAGS DIE, GOD LAUGHS", "AIDS CURES FAGS", "FAGS BURN IN HELL", "FAGS DOOM NATIONS", "GOD GAVE FAGS UP", "THANK GOD FOR 9/11" etcetera.

See? All the love you could ever need!

Jesus is always being quoted whenever love is mentioned, but the fact that he was habitually "loose with the truth" is never addressed

Here are the quotes from Jesus that proves that he lied:

        1)  And Jesus answered and said to them, "Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, `Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it will happen.  "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."  (Matthew 21:21-22 NAS)

        2)  Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.  (Matthew 7:7-8 NAB)

        3)  Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.  For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.  (Matthew 18:19-20 NAS)

        4)  Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it shall be done for him.  Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours.  (Mark 11:24-25 NAB)

        5)  And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.  (Luke 11:9-13 NAB)

        6)  And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.  (John 14:13-14 NAB)

        7)  If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you.  (John 15:7 NAB)

        8)  It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.  (John 15:16 NAB)

        9)  On that day you will not question me about anything.  Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.  Until now you have not asked anything in my name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.  (John 16:23-24 NAB)

A lot of Christians ignore what Jesus was quoted as saying in the Bible.  (I say quoted, because jesus never utters one word himself in the NT)
They also tend to add things to the actual words to make them say something else.  If you honestly and truthfully read these quotes, without adding to them, it is very easy to see that Jesus is not saying that God will think about your prayers.  He says God will grant all your prayers.  Clearly, God doesn’t grant all prayers and this proves that Jesus was an habitual liar.

      lol
      1) if you have faith and doubt not
      2) contingent upon seeking, asking and knocking (desire of heart)
      3) in my name ... not all are in his name who pray
      4) mountains are obstacles. We both know we cannot pray contrary to the will of  God, we must always give evidence and case for our wants that we are not sure are within his will for us. I could pray to go to belieze tomorrow and have all faith but i will still be here because i know his will for me is here right now. We cannot be ridiculous in interpreting the word and then blame god for being wrong lol
      5) and 2) are the same lol
      6) you went the wrong way in quoting the scripture after you should have quoted the scripture before
John 14:12   Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
John 14:13   And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (and is the joining word)
      7) if you remain in me and i in you.... strong condition lol don't you read this stuff closely at all?
ya know what.. there are only two left but i don't care.

Love isn't something we feel when we are in church and stop feeling when we exit the building, otherwise it is emotionalism.
Some here have stated they felt it only in church and some, a particular church.

This isn't love. We are suppose to love and take care of mankind each and every day.

Much of the physical part of love is an emotion. Love can be yours, for anyone. Love is what we all seek and is the most misunderstood behavior.

There are so many kinds of love and love make good sense,
Love is an attitude and an understanding of making each other stronger than apart. With many little acts of kindness, plus many kinds of love.

I don’t understand how God's love can be so angry and so jealous and send most of us o hell,

I can master not being angry or jealous, why is God jealous of me.

The ultimate love is my mate, I would not stand for such a jealous and angry woman.

A few word from another christian.

"My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter.  It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God’s truth!  was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter.  In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders.  How terrific was His fight for the world against the Jewish poison.  To-day, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed His blood upon the Cross.  As a Christian I have no duty to allow my self to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice…  And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly it is the distress that daily grows . For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people."  –Adolf Hitler, in a speech on 12 April 1922 (Norman H. Baynes, ed.  The Speeches of Adolf Hitler, April 1922-August 1939, Vol. 1 of 2, pp. 19-20, Oxford University Press, 1942)

    Hitler:

    a) Hitler was baptized as Roman Catholic during infancy in Austria.

    b) As Hitler approached boyhood he attended a monastery school.  (On his way to school young Adolf daily observed a stone arch which was carved with the monastery’s coat of arms bearing a swastika.)

    c) Hitler was a communicant and an altar boy in the Catholic Church.

    d) As a young man he was confirmed as a “soldier of Christ.”  His most ardent goal at the time was to become a priest.  Hitler writes of his love for the church and clergy: “I had excellent opportunity to intoxicate myself with the solemn splendor of the brilliant church festivals.  As was only natural, the abbot seemed to me, as the village priest had once seemed to my father, the highest and most desirable ideal.”  -Adolf Hitler (Mein Kampf)

If I didn't want anyone making statements like " I am praying for you, I wouldn't participate on  the thread. The question on this forum was for the christians to answer " Why did they accept Jesus into their life". For some reason, you feel a need to keep posting on here to try to convince people that God is evil. He is the complete opposite. He is a loving, merciful and just God.

Prayer is all about self-gratification - you pray because it makes you feel good;  this is the mental equivalent of masturbation.

It is not your right to carry out your exotic rituals in any one else's name or invoke anything on behalf of anyone else - if I offered to invoke some satanic spirit on your behalf in the hope that it will do things for you, or to you - I don't think you would be very happy.

This is how I feel whenever anyone in these forums offers to mumble inanities on my behalf.  This is why it is perceived as an insult - so may be you might stop doing that ?

                Prayer, isn't religious?
You should pray only if asked. It's not your place to judge. Pray for yourself.

Prayer is communication with God. There are certain times I pray when asked. Some unbelievers and atheists enter the forums saying insulting, disgusting things about God and the bible. They personally attack christians, and mock and ridicule because of our faith in God. When I observe this type of bad behavior, I don't need anyone permission to pray out loud. Judging has nothing to do with simple prayer. Thank you, I do pray for myself. It would be self-gratification and selfish if I prayed only for me all the time. I am done discussing this. Take care Deborah.

And, who are you exactly? To deem what other people "need"? Stick to yourself and you might find less issues with others.
Topic of the thread? She's off it? roll
You better believe it is most certainly  IS about religion and beliefs, because that is what category you picked, because "god" only exists in religion.

Find ANY other place in the forum threads, where you can discuss openly, "god", that is not in a religious forum.

I am a christian. Christainity is about a relationship with Jesus. My lifestyle with Jesus in my life is not religious. It's your opinion if you feel something is false. You should at least respect other's belief. It's your right not to believe, and it is our right to believe. Good night Earnest.

All belief in a supernatural divinity is religion based and the source of it is the much discredited bible or quoran. You can't claim a religious belief and then say "I'M not religious"

I am Catholic, I was a alter boy among other  things, in my youth.

I belive with all my heart, that every person on the face of this planet, has free will and may worship who or what they like. After it is their soul.

Deborah I do not offer to pray for you or anybody else, unless asked.

Earnest  I do not 'own '  'Religion or Beliefs' or indeed any other 'Hubs' I belive you and anybody else can have a input and I belive that is how it should be.

On the subject of Hitiler  apparently Germany  continued to give payments  to Rome right up untill the last days of WW2, now I belive he was a monster, and what he did to the Jews was unforgivable, he tried to wipe out a entire race of people, for no other reason than their race. I do not belive Hitiler went to heven,he was a monster PERIOD.

Earnest God may well answer every prayer BUT it might be in his time not in our time, just a thought.

Deborah to me saying a prayer for someone else is in no way judgement, I cannot ask God to judge another. I belive Judgement is up to God and not I.

Also I do not belive in banning anybody else just because they have a different point of view to me. I do not know how to get someone BANNED and would never do it.

Castlepolama I do not belive Hitiler could ever repent enough for what he did, even God ( as I see it) would not belive him. That is what I belive.

As far as I know Christianity accepts 'homosexuality' as long as you do not pratice homosexual acts. Being 'homosexual is not against God only the pratice of homosexual acts. After all God made Adam and Eve  not Adam and Steve.

And anybody has a right to disagree or agree with what I have stated, after all this is your right.

People whether we believe it or not God does exist, and whether we choose to love him or not is up to us (free will) maybe if some of us were a little bit more afraid of God, this world would not be so corrupt and full of evil and just because some people chose to do the wrong thing and use God as an excuse, it does not make God the bad one again (Free will) The devil is very good at making humans believe otherwise of Gods goodness, and many writers here just proved that, please no offence intended!

Skipper - we share many things in common - I am ex-services (RN) I was a Catholic and an altar boy.  I welcome intelligent discussion about religion.  My argument with your religion among others is the imposition of its doctrines on society and the harm it does.    I do however object to the simplistic and childish mouthing of religious dogma by others in these forums and will say so at every opportunity; I object to people telling me that they will perform some mystical ritual for me, especially when it is not sincere and it is not welcome by me.

Like Earnest however - I appreciate your simple and well considered response and the moderate language you used.

Hello WOC it is a pleasure to meet you sister.  Your love for God is evident as I read your posts.
You asked why did I ask Jesus into my life? Because it seemed to me that to reject the love that God was offering me in the sacrifice of His Son, was simply the dumbest thing I could ever do.  Salvation has never been a question in my mind. I knew I needed it and it became, for me, a matter of time before I yielded to the offer of God.  My common sense told me that I would be a fool to reject such love and later I found out that the Bible said that it is a foolish thing to reject the love of God. I thank the Lord everyday that I am saved because I put the whole receiving thing off for so long, and I could have died and went to hell being so stubborn.
Or, I suppose, my rejection could have lead me to becoming like an animal in my response to God's offer of love.  I would have then become more ignorant rather than enlightened concerning God and His ways (walked further toward darkness than the Light). And my ignorance would have lead me to become arrogant in my unbelief and cynical and accusatory towards those that do believe and accept the love of God.  I would have probably become quite good at finding fault with the Bible and all those who love the Lord.  I would have become full of ridicule and hatred towards that which I did not have revelation nor understanding.  I would have persecuted those that shared their love publicly.  But, then, the Bible would have had my number, eh??  I would have been one of those people Jesus spoke of in John 15:18.  Ouch! :-)  And 1 Corinthians 2:14 would have been speaking of me. sigh Cause, as the evidence in some of these posts indicate, the natural man is not only rejecting love, but light and understanding as well.  And most of us tend to make fun of and belittle what we cannot understand.  As I see it, the absence of love is hate.  Just as the absence of faith is fear.  The absence of heaven is hell.  The absence of light is darkness.  The absence of humility is pride.  The absence of wisdom is foolishness.  And the list goes on and on.
Anywho, glad I am walking in the Light of understanding and not hatin'.  There is nothing more satisfying than knowing God and involving Him in my everyday life (and He involving me in His!). ;-)
