Root of all evil, Satan or Money?

I thought money was the root of all evil, then how can Satan be the source of all evil also? God is always broke and needing money from the churches and Government, where dose Satan gets his support money?

Bible has 7 time greater discussion about money than they do about Heaven and Hell combine, why is it that? Most people are killed in the name of God than anything else? One predominate religious country calls their enemies demons, and the other side vise versa demons, did Satan make them do it?

What OR Who do we blame most of our recent wars on, Oil, Money or Satan OR on an all loving God?

My thoughts are greed and brainwashing, what’s yours?

  So it's all about choices and responsibilities.
  
  The Government can not match the money and lawyers of the greedy rich.
  What if the greedy is the worst addiction ever and has the power over and stands between the people and the Government's greater happiness. It’s liked a one ton mean gorilla in the room.

  Greed is more about what an individual or government fear...and that is... lack of never having enough things, or power over,or power to do. It is hard therefore for those of us who have been programmed that there is more lack rather than abundance. If we observe nature, it never worries that there is not enough sunlight or rain. It survives some of the harshest conditions because that is they way it is designed. We too can survive the harshest conditions. Like nature though, there are cycles where there is excellent conditions to thrive in. We too are given these conditions. Like most cycles however they do end.
  
  There are cycles though where we are given much to be grateful about. Instead we want for things that we often don't need to live a happy and fruitful life. What we want and what we need are two very different things.
  
  Nothing has power over oneself unless we give them that power.

  In North America, a wealthy continent, finance has over power even our environment. The average person is 3 weeks away from bankruptcy and average person dies at $30,000 in dealt. Capitalist very rich, they own most of the best land, they owned the banks and own most of people’s choices of freedom of the products they bye and most people are owned by their own homes. Like debtor slavery, a few people, like me know how to work around it and do not allow themselves to be owned.

  Sadly financial intelligence was rarely if ever taught. It is however becoming more common. Whilst limited choices is not a bad thing in my view. Gaining financial intelligence is always great to learn! Limited choices can also help one to realize that the true riches in life are priceless and cannot be purchased, bartered or sold. So when one has this realization together with financial intelligence the world is your oyster, so to speak.

  I think Mamon was the reference Jesus used...and I have read that as greedy self interest. It is a shame that people throughout history have discovered that if they put "God's side" on their banner... they have no shortage of recruits! Especially if they tell you that they alone have a handle on God's wishes...and if ya'all will fight for him...he'll fight fer ya'all !
  War's are fought for profit. Yes, some had worthy causes attached to them, but, ultimately they are about money....mamon...greedy...self...interest...
  or the eastern version...HATE!!! (which still requires some pretty hefty greedy self interest eh?

  Most people do not like war, greed, or government corruption. Some how they keeps getting sold, and brainwashed tooled by over capitalism
  Being artist and one who can not live a lie, find these topics do not make me popular at first, and then some people change, like your self, who gets it. Then after enough time, people change things and energy creates energy for the power of the people.

  Castlepaloma, mamon has come to be described as any "thing" a man puts before God. Money, sex, power,...in short when he puts himself before his Creator. Interestingly it is not used to described the condition of non-believers...it appears to be reserved for those of us that believe.
  De Tocqueville noted that the only way for the American form of self government to work...was for American self control and adherence to it's biblical morals to continue unabated...
  If I love to make coffee....and I really love to serve my coffee to people...I can make a go of it in a capitalistic setting. The consumer will vote yea or nae and I will succeed or fail. Perfect. But, if I add something poisonous and addictive to my coffee...ruin my competition...buy them out...create my own driven dynasty? Well then, I am no better off than any other non market driven model. Greed has destroyed the perfection....
  I guess I find myself more desirous of God's power in my life than my own as I age... I've seen the destruction that even a basically good man like myself can create left to his own devices...

  What I do not understand is the whole hierarchies system of order of rank, grade, class, etc, full of conditional that separates our love from each other. God is just a word; it the behavior in the hierarchies system that fights over a super natural God, that's what really concerns me.
  
  Most people in the world can not love the one and only God you subscribe to and it will never happen.
  
  What most people can do is love themselves, first, in order to love most people, if not all people on earth.
  
  Then Satan and Money become secondary.

  Castlepaloma, Indeed. I guess that's why I subscribe to this faith. I know, left to my own devices I will eventually place myself above someone else...As I understand it, God is no respecter of rank or human position. I'm trying before I die, to learn to Love irrespective of conditions...hehehe... some days better than others...
  I coach High School Sports, and try to help kids learn to be the best them ...they can be. Not so they can Lord it over others, but rather so they can learn the skills they need to serve others. I try to highlight motives. Why we do what we do often says more than what we do...
  A very good friend describes the phases of faith as 1) Justified. This is the point where I agree to turn my will over to my Creator . 2) Sanctified. The journey through the rest of my life, struggling to make good on that promise! I know I'll get it right when I shed my skin!
  Greed is simply one of the myriad of ways in which men choose what they want rather than what is right. I have to agree that a lot of evil has been done by men in God's name... I guess I just can't blame him for that. Blaming doesn't really solve anything anyway...so, I just do my best to do the right things...a tiny contribution indeed... but, it's a start!

  I believe similarly that God is "in" every thing, and can't deny the idea of shared energies.
  
  As long as you and I are wearing skin, God's judgment will more often come in the form of a still...small...voice, than Hell fire and brimstone!

  I study with a group that are genuinely trying. Most of us have come to the conclusion that Hell and Brimstone are the only way some folks can describe being totally separated from "that still small voice".

  Yes and it had something about Jesus getting mad when they were gambling.... Seems money drives people to do some strange things..I don't so much think though it was about the gambling. It might have been because it was in a temple if I remember correctly.

  I think Money is the root of evil and Federal Government is the devil why? Why do you think we have social class? And why ONLY the Upper class and people that's part of the "Royal blood" are the ONLY people that has more power than us? why? because they have Money; and the Government regulates it by Tax. And guess who get taxed the most in this Society, the Middle Class. THE HARD WORKING PEOPLE , the NORMAL PEOPLE. No matter what your job is. You can be a Doctor or a Nurse you will always be a Middle Class you know why? cause government controls us, they know that Doctors get paid a lot, so what do they do with doctors? they have to have a Malpractice Insurance, and they get taxed a lot more. and without their jobs they are nothing. So basically they are just part of the Upper Middle Class. Why do you think going to College is expensive? Cause Knowledge is Power. They want to restrict people from gaining Power. So, to sugar coat this they build FAFSA, "okay you can go to school and gain Knowledge but you still owe me, you have to work hard and pay me back when you're done with school" BAM! that's how they get us. Another thing listen to this : "Okay so now that you're making money I know that you would want to live in a better house" BAM there's goes your Mortgages. "you know you have to pay for that too so you can be able to have a good house and you can start living "the good life" . Okay so to be able to do that we need Money; but we are only human that's our weakness we just want a good life. So the whole time since after you graduate your paying for your debt till you retired, and yes if your smart you'll invest on 401k and some other BS so then when your 68 YEARS OLD you don't have to worry about money. BAM! where does our tax goes? WAR ON DRUGS! which one is it SPECIFICALLY!? Marijuana, THE GOVERNMENT SPEND MILLIONS ON DESTROYING THE NATURE!!!!!!!! and guess what? EVERYTHING WE PUT IN OUR BODY are DRUGS!!!! EVERY PAIN MEDICATION you take when you go to surgery or when your sick or in pain are Drugs and EVEN BAD for you; and why do you think we have obese people? Cause they are ADDICTED TO FOOD! anything excessive is bad for you. Okay so check this out EVERYONE that pays tax Already vowed and contributed in destroying our planet. Why Marijuana? what did the simple plant get so much of a bad reputation? If God made it how can it be so bad?! Okay here's my answer to that... Because it's natural it's a part of nature, you can just get it and grow it yourself and they know that there's going to be less crime and we basically saving the our planet; and now if they Legalize it, they know that there's gonna be LESS poverty, why did I said Less poverty? because now that they aren't using our TAX money to kill our planet slowly; they need to use it in making our country a better place to live. But no the devil doesn't like that so that's why I think Government is the devil. and Money is Evil.

  1. "the love of money is the root of all evil". To love the creation more than the creator is the sin. Or also known as idolatry. When we place anything in our life above Him, it becomes our sin. If we worship money in His place, it becomes our God.
  
  2. Who said God was broke? If He is the source from what all things come from, how can he be without? Or could misguided leadership, in love with money, use that to fulfill their greed.
  
  3. Satan's principality is used on the earth. He reigns in the earthly kingdoms. He uses greed, lust, fear, etc to entice us because he is aware of our weaknesses.
  
  4. The bible does speak more of money than heaven and hell. But if you recall, it all has to do with the management of money. Not just needing money. It mainly warns of the misuse and how it leads to idolatry.
  
  5. Wars are not waged in the name of God. I would again think they are waged for the need of power and control, but then justified by religious beliefs.
  
  6. My opinion is that the "recent" wars are no different than the wars of old. There has been and always will be a struggle for power and control of resources. Why? Greed. Love of money. Which is why we have scriptures warning of the love of money.

  The first sin was Eve eating the apple in the Garden of Eden, after the temptation of the Serpent (Satan). From that moment on, Mankind became sinners, this is why Satan IS "the root of all evil". Many forms of evil have absolutely nothing to do with money!

It ain't scriptural but I think that if it wasn't for out ability to find self justification for doing anything that we want to do; or self justification for NOT going those things that we don't want to do, ... this is the root of all evil.

  The root of all evil are the thoughts and deeds that are conceived in the minds of man to do unto his fellow man. You can blame this, or you can blame that, but, really. Isn't that just like a child to blame inanimate objects, or invisible external ghosties, for those things which they themselves did? So easy to lay blame, especially when neither suspect speaks to defend themselves. Looks like a frame-up to me. Happy New Year!

I'm not sure but I'd be happy volunteer for a test of the second option... if people want to give me a lot of money, we can see if I become evil or not.
Personally, I think there are rich evil people and poor evil people, as well as rich good people and poor good people. It is much more complex than that.

  Mankind defines the moral codes by which we live in our various cultures. We define good and evil. What we, in the U.S. consider evil, is not necessarily so elsewhere. We profess a code and teaching which says that taking life is forbidden, and yet our culture tends to cheapen it on some fronts, sanctifying it on others. If I do something evil, did the devil make me do it? The devil within the human psyche. I f I do something good, did God make me do it? The God which resides in that same psyche. Care to go deeper?

  To be poor is the fault of society, It is a collective sin. When Jesus said "The poor will always be with us." He was referring to the poverty of the soul, not material wealth.

The full statement from scripture is that *the love of* money is the root of all eveil. Money is not evil, being rich or poor is not evil. Being greedy or covetous is the sin.

One should always face one's attention and intention towards the Creator-God; one one is not doing that one's is under the influence of Satan which could be under the form of money.

  My life is 50% about me and 5O% about everyone else and I can't even possess myself. I don’t think repenting myself endlessly to and about Allah (all of me) or having Jesus save me from Satan is healthy, and I am what I think.
  
  Why allow anyone among the 100 billion people who ever lived on earth own you, dead or alive? The Best I can do is enhance a soul, not to take a soul, because the soul has millions of parts and in part or parts can be shared with everyone, not to belong to just one exclustive group.

Money isn't evil. It is simply a mechanism used by people to buy and trade goods and services. Yet, the devil uses our weaknesses and temptation to drive us farther away from God and faith. The thought and desire for wealth and fortune takes over many people and this is the work of Satan. Our faults and bad choices introduce us to him. He discovers your weakness and follows through. The harder you work and attempt to live a morally just and humble lifestyle, the harder it will be for Satan to over power your inner Holy Spirit!

  If I may ask, you always seems angry, why? And just in response to your advising me many people get hooked on drugs you can blame your evil on me. I shot heroin and cocaine daily for 24 years, until recovery. Should you call that evil and go even further to the root of it, then so be it. Having never met me or read my hubs I suspect you will be wrong, sadly I never return to find out. Forums I believe are at the root of meeting the community.   Most people that know me, have often asked me why I never get angry. Being such a newbie at English writing; it may come off like road rage. The odd person I may get angry from my challenging questions because sometimes, I do push it too far, that's from being a very curious and fearless artist.
  
  I’m always concern if anyone is in need of knowledge of nature ways of medicine or attention, and I'll will have a peek at some of your hubs.
  
  You know yourself, that a certain amount of sex or drugs recreational can be healthy, but too many people can get addicted and unbalance and it become their own personal hell. As far as drugs being a crime to humanity, I'd be much more concern about the 95% occupational crime and brainwashing out there. Peace is not absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means. The only evil I’m aware of is the absence of reason.

Hello I am very new to this. I am very young but I love talking about this stuff. I belive that money causes evil yes. But money would not cause evil if the people werent filled with the senses of being greedy and selfish. Who creates and indicates those emotions..Satan. In the end we are all taught by a christian religion (the bible)if you strongy belive in that or not even, there is a right from wrong. That is the cause. Everyone no matter what they say does their right or their wrong. They know and think that what they are doing is right or wrong. Regardless whatever it may be there is a right and a wrong. Going down deeper..that creates a heaven and hell. And money is just a large well known aspect from hell that sadly we all cause wrongness. Thank you so much!

Money or wealth is not evil in and of itself but rather it is our lust for wealth which brings about evil. When we are prepared to do anything for money it becomes evil. When we overcharge people money becomes evil. When we want to flaunt our wealth in front of those in need rather than helping the needy it becomes evil.

If that same money was used to feed the poor, the hungry, the homeless there is no evil. If the money was used for better hospitals, better medical equipment there is no evil. How we use wealth determines whether or not it becomes evil.

Since Satan is an adversary to God he has no good intentions so the greatest evil as I see it is the devil for his sole purpose is to destroy God and everything he has accomplished.

  Here's a good question. A few months ago, it was announced that some of the U.S.'s richest citizens donated half of their worth to charity. Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, and SEVERAL others. Now, some may perceive this as a good thing, but what if it's because something on a biblical scale is in the air. Has been since that oil spill, Now birds are dropping out of the sky in ARK, and LA. Same thing goes on here. OR coast. Anyone can see that something bad is in the air. Dead zones, whale beachings, polar anomalies. We are in for a rough ride. The root of all evil is God himself. God made Satan. He made Adam, and he made Eve. He sent the serpent to them. He tested them. And they failed. So original sin has begun. The evil continues out through humanity as people begin to have urges and temptations and act on them. Money is just currency. If people traded sex for goods would sex be the root of all evil? I'm not saying God is evil so please don't start attacking my opinion. But I am saying, that He created everything....In the Beginning....

Having read your article I can see where you came to your point of view but God is not evil. God has given free will, Adam & Eve had free will, they were told what would happen if they ate from the tree of knowledge and the chose to do so anyway.

God created Lucifer and bless him will much but that wasn't enough for Lucifer so he decide to be a devil by trying to take God's throne and so he chose to be Satan.

I used to think money was the root of all evil. But, if we could all have whatever we wanted, I think people would still fight over something that someone else has to feel superior to them. The whole I am better than you are bit. So I would have say that all forms of "Greed" is the root of all evil.

As for Satan. Who cares. Probably doesn't exist.

Satan started it all. Money is just one of his tools, although it is fast becoming the the prime tool. It is either sex or money. Greed for money has long ceased to take other parameters like relations, ethics and blah blah into account. Sex is fast reaching the perimeters. Homosexual marriage is one step towards annihilation. Incest is not far off

If Homosexuality is a normal practice as those zealous about freethinking are apt to argue, why isn't there an ovary somewhere along the renal canal? It is only argument for argument's sake but it is fake

The Bible says that 'the Love of money' is the root of all sorts of injurious things. Why? Well we All worship Something. People can deny it all they want. Some worship money, some the government, some power, and some people even worship themselves. When you place objects above all else, that worship leads to the quest of obtaining what you worship, at all costs.

  Here is a story, a rich christain would enjoy
  
  Jesus often told a story to teach a lesson. Hear the story of the talents.
  One day a man was going on a long trip. He needed his servants to take care of his property while he was gone, so he called them to him.
  To the first servant he gave five talents of money. (A talent was not a coin, but a weight of a precious metal such as silver, and one talent was worth more than $1,000. So this servant received money worth more than $5,000.)
  This man went to work at once using his money until he had doubled it. He now had ten talents instead of five.
  The master gave the second man two talents. He probably thought the man was capable of managing that amount of money. The second man was successful also, and doubled his money. He began with more than $2,000 and now he had twice as much.
  The third man was not as capable as the other two, but the master gave him one talent with the expectation that he would manage it well. He, too, could have increased his money, but he dug a hole and hid it in the ground.
  After a long time the master returned. (Some think the master's trip is a picture of Jesus returning to heaven, and the return from the trip is the judgment of mankind.) He was ready for a report from the servants.
  The man who had received five talents brought his money and showed the master that he had doubled it. He was happy to show his master the results.
  The master was well pleased. He said, "Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!"
  The man that had been given two talents showed the master that he had also doubled his money. He received the same words of praise as the first man who had received five talents.
  The man who had received one talent dug up the talent he had buried and brought it to the master. He accused the master of being a hard man to work for, said he had been afraid, so he just buried his talent. He gave it back to the master saying, "See, here is what belongs to you."
  The master was very angry with him and called him a wicked, lazy servant. He said the man should at least have put the money with bankers and received some interest. (Now the Jews could not charge nor receive interest from a fellow Jew, but they could get interest from a person who was not a Jew.)
  The master took his one talent away from him and gave it to the man who had ten talents, and the one talent man was punished because he had not properly used the talent he had been given.
  What can we learn from this story? We need to use whatever "talent" God has given us. It might be money or ability. If we use it wisely, He will increase it so that our lives will glorify Him.

  I made $20 an hour as a brick layer. My wages today would have remains the same if I was still working as in the stated in the 1970s. Then housing has gone up by 30 times or more since 1970. So what gives with the rich?

  Yes agree. Classing people as this or that is not useful in the grand scheme of living. The less distinctions we have when it comes to labeling people the better off we will be. Perhaps it is this very thing that prevents poor people from achieving what they wish. The poverty mentality comes about when people believe the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. Our beliefs can be very powerful.
  
  My Dad or Mum cannot remember which use to have a saying. I am better than no one, no one is better than me. It makes sense to me. Where it came from I don't know.
  
  How do you govern greed? Put a ceiling on what one can earn? How would that make the poor better off? You would hope it does but would it?
  
  3% rich of our population is not over populating our planet with greed. In saying that I am not entirely sure Rich = Greedy either?
  
  I have seen a fair amount of people who are in the low to average range of income who would fall under the greedy category if I were to analyze it a bit further.

  I am not sure how it works there. Here however the more money you make the more you are taxed. In one view it might seem that one is penalized unfairly for the hard work that they do. In another view it may be seen as regulating income levels for the sake of subsidising the needs of the less fortunate. In saying that, the tax legislation have in place many alternate structures that in effect puts ceilings on the tax rate of those who earn higher incomes. There is no limit to what they can earn after a certain threshold is reached and the tax rate cannot go any higher then whatever structure is in place. This is where those who are financially intelligent or those who hire someone with the expertise are benefiting. The extra tax that could go to help the less fortunate then is dependent on those who make a lot of money and do not know about the tax laws.
  
  Many of these structures however are then able to expand and provide more job opportunities. As no one likes to pay tax, even the wealthy haha.
  
  The control one might have is therefore limited then to their financial intelligence. It can also be beneficial for those who are unemployed. Depends.

  Poverty is the single most important and the greatest cause of death. We need to strengthen the right to organize and help low-income families save so they’re not prey to predatory lenders. Many activists say the poor,have a disproportionally high state and local tax burden, are getting hit from both sides on all levels of government. The problems of poverty--too few jobs, debt, bad housing, bad schools, illness, and fragile families--cannot be understood or solved in isolation.
  
  Poverty is such low priority, we have no accurate statistics.

  Strengthen perhaps? Helping definitely! Yet can anyone or has anyone defined the help that would be useful?
  
  The attempts so far have little or no effect on the poor. Perhaps that is because they are not helping in a more constructive way. I don't profess to know which ways are more constructive but it is evident that what is being done doesn't work. Why strengthen what doesn't work?
  
  Poverty is a difficult cycle to break.. It is this kind of perception that needs altering to encompass abundance instead of lack. To embrace courage, determination and strength rather than fear, helplessness and despair.
  
  What we focus on we get more of. That applies to all areas of our lives. When we see lack we cannot see abundance. When we see bad we cannot see good.
  
  It is not easy to break the patterns of perception especially when poverty is "in your face" 24/7 but it is possible. Perhaps this kind of help may be more useful when determining what help can be given from those who are in a position to give or help.
