How do you think God would answer this question?

If God could be "surprised" about anything at all, it would probably be surprise at mankind's unbelief in general.
Jesus "marvelled" at the unbelief of the people He tried to teach and heal in his own "country"...

Yes Hitler probably marvelled at the same thing, as did Ron Hubbard and a host of other lunatics... so what?

Eh...I doubt He's surprised anymore at your disbelief, earnest.  Including your comparison of Him to Hitler or L. Ron Hubbard.   Remember, He knows you by now!  haha

HAhA..nice responses! funny. yet once others respond I will reveal the answer. This question stays on my mind. I am sure many will find it to be a great hub topic. The question I posted a few days back,  "Did Jesus preach to the Choir" inspired a hub that sited it as a response, created about an hour ago. I am so happy that one of my questions inspired a full hub.  The answers will also help me on my journey. I look forward to giving God's answer too,. lol Blessings

What breathtaking arrogance !  You will reveal what you have in your head and it will be gods word !!  You should go and get your prescription checked if I were you.

And invest in a spell checker would you, it is really irritating to see how so many fundies cannot spell, it is offensive to the reading eye.

Wow, recommend1. Are you showing a bit of arrogance yourself by judging? How do you "know" that it isn't really "God's answer?" Are you claiming to be "all knowing?" Again, wow!

Spell checker? Yes, bad spelling is annoying, but it's not merely confined to "fundies." Quite a number of skeptics have been known to offer typos, misspellings and an occasional grammatical faux pas.

Like your own use of "gods word." Possessive form requires an apostrophe.

        Oops!

One does not need to be all knowing to recognise myth as myth, it's very simple really. The bible is a controlling pile of horse manure. smile

I don't see how it is arrogant to point out stupidity - and the random chance that IF there were a god it would choose to speak through such dimwitted people is breathtakingly against the odds.

Oh, and sorry about the typo,  but one typo hardly makes me semi-literate as the fundies and many of the 'so-called' christians clearly are.  But the point is not whether some clever dick can find a typo, it is that if these people are semi-literate how on earth do they interpret the babble they spout.  They are clearly told the things they say and have no understanding - pretty much the dictionary definition of a moron.

      Good point, Emile!

Fundamentalists are on an ego trip. They think they have it all figured out, just like many skeptics. There is so much we don't know.

Hell yes, think! They should be humble enough to realize that their interpretation of the Bible is not equivalent to that of God. Likely it never will be.

      1. profile image0
Emile Rposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Honestly? Doesn't the whole conversation equate to an ego trip?

There is no god. There is a god.I know something about god.You know nothing about god.

All of these statements are ego. The only time our ego isn't in play is when we are silently listening; straining to be in touch.

The fundamentalists may be the oddest voices in the conversation; but every spoken word on the subject is  a varying degree of our egos shining through.

wow recommend1.  Lighten up will ya. I will post God's answer because I believe we are all mini-gods, we have all of God's attributes! We create, we love ,we care, we even speak out and bless others.  I believe that is what the Answers section is all about; to stimulate minds and to make people think about GOD.  If you don't like this question you have your God given right to ignore it.  Why respond with negativity. But hey regardless of your ignorant comment I will still REVEAL GOD"S ANSWER! haHA..spell check that. Blessings

So medical and religious advice I see.

I have some advice for you. Read ALL of your bible.

If a man still prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall say to him, "You shall not live, because you have spoken a lie in the name of the Lord." When he prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall thrust him through.   (Zechariah 13:3 NAB)

The LORD is a jealous God, filled with vengeance and wrath.  He takes revenge on all who oppose him and furiously destroys his enemies!  The LORD is slow to get angry, but his power is great, and he never lets the guilty go unpunished.  He displays his power in the whirlwind and the storm.  The billowing clouds are the dust beneath his feet.  At his command the oceans and rivers dry up, the lush pastures of Bashan and Carmel fade, and the green forests of Lebanon wilt.  In his presence the mountains quake, and the hills melt away; the earth trembles, and its people are destroyed.  Who can stand before his fierce anger?  Who can survive his burning fury?  His rage blazes forth like fire, and the mountains crumble to dust in his presence.  The LORD is good.  When trouble comes, he is a strong refuge.  And he knows everyone who trusts in him.  But he sweeps away his enemies in an overwhelming flood.  He pursues his foes into the darkness of night.   (Nahum 1:2-8 NLT)

A tiny insecure god who make outrageous threats is not something I am going to worship.

@ ernesthub.  Thank you for the laugh.  too bad I don't believe my God wants me to fear him. I respect him, and as the passage says, (since this is what you believe as your truth), "He knows everyone who trust him",, I trust God enough to know he wants for me what I want for myself. He wants my happiness.  He knew I would sin, he knew I would inquire about my "father". I interpret differently than you, and God knew that too! He is great, his ways  are unlimited and God cannot experience that which he is not. Jealousy is one of these! this is the work of unbelievers, God can never experience jealousy because God is pure Love. and these two things cannot exist together or they cancel each other out! He gave us humor so that we don't take life sooo seriously. I prescribe you a "chill pill", take every two weeks for the rest of your life.
    Blessings

I will never go back and forth with unbelievers about my God.. it is pointless.  Please let's stick to the question. How would God answer this? (if you believe).. I know that's why he gave mankind brains.. to think. If you cannot accept god's words, shame on you. If you cannot see God in your fellow man/women, shame on you.  I am not sure who the fundamentalist  are you refer to but I do not  place labels, nor do I categorize others.. that is for those who do not know themselves, how to express themselves, those who live with ego and illusion, and who are afraid of ONENESS, Blessings again my spiritual bully. wink smh

  16. poeticmentor profile image75
    poeticmentorposted 13 years ago

Not an ego trip, but a trip about egos, sure. Truly it is about God's perspective on human beings. and yes I am sure we are afraid to answer this question because of how the question is asked (worded) & it does not seem to sit well with some. Yet I enjoy being the odd ball out, pushing the envelope a bit.  If that's ego so be it, yet I only comment to get a better understanding from others. That is a natural instinct for us humans.  We want to know how it is for others all the time, so that we can either relate or not.Criticize or uplift. It may seem contradictory yet it is true. Also the best part of the convo are the answers whether I agree or disagree..there is a dialogue and that is most important. plus I had to ask this question I am participating in the Hub experience. and wow it keeps getting more real. wink

Well, the conversation is fascinating. I wouldn't walk away from it for the world, but I can't ignore the motivating factors. Any firmly held belief, pro or con, is all in your head. To push it as fact is ego.

Don't get the impression I don't know I'm full of it. Recognizing it, and overcoming it, are worlds apart. smile

    On Not Resenting Allah:

The Shaikh Abd al-Qadir al Jilani (may Allah be well pleased with him, and grant him contentment) said:

How great is your resentment against your Lord, your suspicion of Him and your resistance to Him. How often you attribute injustice to Him, and charge Him with delay in providing sustenance and sufficiency and in removing troubles and tribulation.

Do you not know that every term has a prescribed duration, and that for every increase in trouble and woe there is an end, a termination and a conclusion, which can neither be brought forward nor deferred? Until they have run their prescribed course, therefore times of trials do not change and turn into conditions of well-being, the time of misfortune does not change into prosperity, and the state of poverty is not converted into affluence.

Be well-behaved, practice patience, contentment and harmony with your Lord, and repent for your resentment against Him and your suspicion of Him where His action is concerned.

In the Lord's presence there is no room for demanding payment in full and exacting retaliation where there is no offense, nor for recourse to natural instinct, as is usual in mutual relations between His servants.

He is absolutely alone from all eternity, existing before all things. He created them, and He created their benefits and disadvantages. He knows their beginning, their end and their fulfillment. He is wise in His working and sure in His craftsmanship. There is no inconsistency in what He does. He does nothing uselessly and creates nothing as a futile game. There can be no question of criticizing or reproaching Him for His deeds.

    ~excerpt from Thirty-fourth Discourse from Futuh al-Ghaib

"The leader of the church, Margie Phelps, has declared her group intends to picket the funeral of Jobs as way of "condemning him for teaching sin to others," according to The Huffington Post. The message is even more bizarre considering that she sent the message via Twitter over her iPhone. When people pointed this out to Phelps, she said that it was God who created the iPhone, not Jobs.

No more crazy or unwanted than the arrogance of claiming to speak for a god.

You may note that the biblical god and his son/s love is totally conditional, therefore not love at all.

To give love, one needs self worth, when one has self worth or self love, then one is capable of giving real love to others.
Not the "you can be loved if" type of love, in the way the bible asks for it.

That would be megalomania, not love. smile
