Why are we here on Earth ?
What am i supposed to do here ?
that's a spiritual kind of question. But it's haunting me since morning. Everyday we wake up, go to work and then get to sleep. Is that's only the life ? Only this much ?
What is your opinion ?
In fact, we don't realize the meaning of our existence. Why do I exist? is a typical question that every thinker would ask in one's life. Life is a mystery and I don't find any purpose in this life. It is as it is and nothing more....
As a child in school I learned this: "God made me to know him, to love him, and to serve him in this world and to be happy with him forever in the next." I have not found a better answer for the purpose of our existence on earth.
As far as what you are supposed to do, I would guess you are to find your best way to serve God - most likely by serving others based on your gifts and abilities.
It is written in the Christian bible that our names were in the book of life sinse the beginnig of the world.
It is written that God knew us before we were in the womb.
It is written that we are children of God.
God created the earth for his pleasure.
Could the earth be kinda like an amusement park?
And the 10 commandments are instructions for our behaveior while at the amusement park, that when we abide by them, we are not ruining the vacation of others?
Our life is what we make of it.
But the amusement park is SOooo crowded these days.
And some day the park will close.
Simple answers to your very complex questions my friend:
Why are we here on Earth ?
We are here for a test, and our lives are in a constant flux, we are on a transitory journey which will end when we die.
What am i supposed to do here ?
We should live our lives according to the commands of our Creator (Allah/God). Accepting the good and the bad moments of lives and preparing for the final test which will be on the day of judgment. When we stand in front of our Creator, what we do in this life will be taken to account.
Hope that helps answer your complex questions.
This is the billion dollar question.. and the fact is none of us will EVER know. You can hypothesise all you like, but you have to find a reason to make it worth it while you're here.
Find your passion, then find a way you can make money from it.. live, laugh, learn and most of all have FUN!!!
carolapple's answer rings true to my thinking. Way to go carol! Here is a sentence from a book titled, "The Corageous Life" by Don Brown.
"The life of NO-REGRETS is following the promptings that God has put into your heart."
What is it that is "haunting" your thinking? It is the Holy Spirit.
your on earth because your parents gave birth to you. there is no set thing your are suppose to do though many will claim i'm wrong. believe what you want but at least believe in your fellow man before you believe in spirits and other such myths.
I boldly proclaim that I know the answer. The mystery of life is this because I cracked the secret code for the mystery of life on A.D. November 2, 2009. You are love you are peace you are free now be love now be peace now be free this is who you are. What you do with this information is on you. I am just giving you the message that GOD told me to give to all of humanity that is on the earth. Just be it and the purpose for your life and every single human being will be fulfilled and complete while living on the earth. This mystery of life is solved and what you do with this is on you. I am only giving you the message. This is the purpose why every single human being is on the earth. Be love be peace be free. Just be it. This is it. It is finish.
Be love, be peace, be free. A good answer and tons of volumes can be written over it till the enternity. Keep up, brother Ambassador Butler but please do not link it up with a religion. So sweet and wonderful ! I love the answer.
Great question I ponder that same question all the time, I started reading THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE, By Rick Warren, it’s a 40 day spiritual journey that will enable you to self discover, so they say, I just started, take the steps and see what you discover.
Very vital question...Summed up is that we were created to glorify God and in so doing, enjoy a life of joy.
Rick Warren, the author of THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE, a best seller has answered this question very well in his book. Regards
This is becoming habit forming as well as a great way to get content. I always go to the questions Hubbers ask. Once in awhile I discover a question that makes an excellent topic. This question was asked by abhishek.genius. The question was "Why are... read more
At least we get to wake up, go to work, and then get to sleep
There are many who do not have that kind of life.
I am a firm believer of my Destiny. Work hard towards your goal, and if it is in your destiny you will get it or else life will show you another cross road to venture upon. Just keep your mind open for any opportunities and venture upon this journey of life.
Good luck!!
There is no answer to this question.
Educated yourself and "live." It's the only life you'll ever experience.
"BE HAPPY, DON"T WORRY"
Qwark
PS What do you think it is/should be?
To contribute positively, to uplift others, to live your own life to the fullest, to encourage the downtrodden, to help others benefit from your experiences -- both good and bad.
We have no inherent purpose on earth; no singular one, anyway. Individually, the purpose of life is to give it purpose. If you want to devote your life to writing music, for example, then that's your purpose. Do it, and never look back, because the only life wasted is one where you hesitate.
Eat, drink and be merry and help others do the same. What else is there.
Very logic question and very few peple can answer. We are creator of God so we have to worship him that why we are here. Yes we can add more things that is better our life like education , work, and so on.
Thanks for all the kind answers to my question. Most of your answers have touched my heart.. It is a great mystery why we are here, why people get birth and they die. I think we should not overlook the existence of god. People who do not believe in god should believe in the existence of supreme energy that is driving the entire life cycle on this planet. This life in human form is gifted only once and we should live it with passion, full of purpose and enjoyment. No one in this world has even a shred of clue what is going to happen to them or someone in near future !
In a nutshell, believe in energy (the supreme power or God) and live a purposeful and innocent life...
God bless you all
The same thing as other creatures: eat and reproduce. But seriously, here is a response I wrote recently to this basic question:
http://hubpages.com/hub/The-Meaning-of-Life-Question
According to Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and many other saints, the purpose of human life is to attain God, or realize your true self to be none other than the deathless Atman.
Wonderful ! what so many persons are trying to say in so many words, you have poured it out in a single sentence as per philosophy of great Sri Ramkrishna Paramahansa. Ocean in an small vessel or gagar me sagar, as we call it in Hindi.
Why are we here on Earth ? What am i supposed to do here ?
Our sole reason for being here is to serve God. He promised that if we obey and stay in his will He would withhold nothing from us. (Now the devil was kicked out of heaven and doomed to hell, and he is roaming the earth 27/7 to take as many of us with him as possible) So while we are on this earth our job is to encourage and help people. God loved us that while we were yet in sin, He gave his only Son to die that we might have an escape from sin to enternal life, and in return all He ask is that we glorfiy, praise, serve Him and he would give us our heart desire.
If you believe in the spirit, then know this, the spirit wants to be happy. The spirit is full of knowledge, bliss, and is eternal. We are "spiritual beings that have been in cased in a physical body, trying to enjoy the material world".
The spirit just wants to be happy. Some how our spirit left the spiritual world and choose to come to the material world. This is what many of my associates from different spiritual paths have been revealing to me. I keep asking them if I was sober when I made this choice.
I would rather be in heaven in bliss minding my own business and let other beings do what ever they want to do.
My dear, if you observe words of your question, you have already an answer hidden in it. You say everyday, we wake up, what does it mean ? Are we in reality awake or asleep ? Just ponder over it, just observe yourself wholly and think how you are awake and what is in you that is awake. Is your body awake or your mind awake ? No matter to whatever place your mind takes way, try to search out the real fact of awakening using your intellect to the maximum and if you find exhaust, just surrender to the Creator of this awakening to explain you it truely. Though at first it seems something bizarre, you will, after a passage of time, feel something wonderful taking place into your whole existence. Then you say we go to work, again ask why do we go to work, just to sustain ourselves or to understand something out of this whole struggle or experience. Just think over it, how fascinating is this all about. So many aspects of existence we undergo during this time when we are into all this that we call going to work. Just ponder over it, is it so common in reality ? So much thinking and acting is involved in all this that when we think about it, we find no shore of it and we find that how creative and wonderful it is ? Just do not treat it as routine. Also going to sleep is not a trivial thing, it can be compared to a death for a short period till we awake. Just think, how happy we are in our sleep ? Nobody wants to awake from it, why ? It is a irony that people are scared of death thinking that it will take us to oblivion but while in sleep, they are happy, they just do not want to be disturned. What does it imply ? If sleep is like a short death and we are happy, then why are we scared of perenial death and longs for a eternal life. Abhishek genius, our life is for the sake of embarking on a beautiful journey to explore about the secret of all this, some call it realization, some call it enlightenment, some call it seeing God. Life is so full of mysteries that once we begin a sincere journey to explore it, it instils a real peace in our lives but most of us remain deluded through out our lives. Why ? Sacred texts say that only a rarest human bering inculcate a real love to know about all this. As your name suggests, being genius, you are a fit person to analyze it thoroughly and tell the outcome of it to the whole world. As you have posed a question, long long ago, Sidharth had asked it and what he discovered is for whole humanity to see. Best of luck, dear, go on
Due to there being no objectively verifiable purpose that is clear - I would go with the existentialist view that you create your meaning yourself. Identify what is is in this existence that matters to you and develop the aspects of your life that are attuned to this. Live your life as a project.
Maybe the purpose for our existence is to fulfill god's wish.It is mentioned in the bible that we are god's children, and we should fulfill his wishes and orders. We also believe that we have an afterlife after our death.Perhaps we should enjoy our life on earth to its fullest. Some etiquette and value must be portrayed in our life. These are some notions i think about this topic.
We are hear for a specific purpose or purposes. However, we do not know in advance what that purpose is and once we have accomplished that purpose, we may not realize it. It may be as simple as keeping the child from running into the street and then grows up to be the scientist that cures cancer. Even the smallest thing we do may be part of our purpose. So to put it simply, out purpose is to follow the pah God has put before us.
What I believe about life. Some people’s purposes in life is to have a family in their own. Such as, you need to have children and a wife with her own family. Other people's meaning in life is to safe others lives. Some times the meaning of life is to plant a tree or cut a tree.
Our purpose is to play to our strengths. If you are good at playing the piano--do that. But there is one caveat. When we play, we play not just for ourselves, but to heal the hearts of others. Thus, our main purpose is to give others solace and joy. If no one will hear you play, then... play for yourself-- for your very own joy.
In short, we are all given gifts. Our purpose is to honor those gifts and share them if we can. If we cannot, we can use those gifts to heal ourselves.
Music may be the gift of which you are most aware, kindness and benevolence may be the gifts you have that you do not recognize in yourself that you share with others. I uncovered corruption when I was a reporter--not sure that was my purpose,
I am not sure why we are here on Earth per se, however I like to think it is to get our soul right, as in the Indigo Girls song. I think our purpose is to leave the world a better place and to help others; be the physical hands of God when we can. They say that the only true happiness comes from making others happy. I have to agree it does make you feel good....
As the greek philosopher Socrates puts it : "The ultimate question of all, which is the meaning of this existence, is unfolded only by the person himself".
We're here on Earth because God put us here. We're all supposed to worship Him and follow Jesus Christ.
what an unfortunate ideology you were to have.
"You were to have?" At least try to make sure your comment makes sense.
Although I do not agree on the Jesus Christ part (peace be upon him), you are right. Our one and only purpose is to worship God.
That includes being happy, helping others, and anything that sounds and feels positive.
Very true and to add in a loving greatful way. It was possible that another life could have taken place then us. But we beat the odds as many will never be born.
Life is a gift and many take it for granted by mocking the one who gave it.
My opinion comes from my religious beliefs. I believe that we all have a very important purpose. I believe we are here on Earth to be tested and tried to prove to our God, or whatever Higher Power, that we love Him and are willing to pay the price in order to get to where He wants us to arrive. It's a time given to us to prepare to meet God.
What if we proved ourself... what is the reward? Why the creation itself? What is the purpose of creator himself?
Technically, spread your DNA, raise your young so that they can pass on their DNA.
Depressing, huh?
I'd recommend creating your own life purpose, whether it's to help those less fortunate than you or achieving the best in your chosen field. But don't waste your life... it's shorter than you think!
Yes. I do believe we are here for a purpose. To learn about our own enlightenment. I am still in search of my own enlightenment in life and its purpose before returning back to God's kingdom.
If I do not succeed in this lifetime then I will again be reborn to find the reason of enlightenment. It will repeat itself until I know my purpose.
From my standpoint, this is a Lila, a divine or cosmic game. God or the ultimate Source, is enjoying Itself in and through its Creation.
The Soul first involutes (comes down), then begins a process of upwards movement (evolution) through the mineral, plant, animal and human life, each stage higher than the next. The Soul is part and parcel of God and as such immortal. Nevertheless, it acquires 'experiences' as designed by God along the way or while travelling its earthly sojourn.
You ask its purpose. We are here to manifest the Ultimate Truth or glorify It, if you like. For this the Soul needs the Form and the Body (also form) needs the Soul, for its final fulfilment in the Divine.
What are you supposed to do? Each Soul is unique, but I feel that you understand this. With Right Mindfulness or Meditation, the inner voice or conscience will become stronger and direct you accordingly. I cannot do this for you and you cannot do this for me. Yours is a unique journey and the Inner Pilot will guide you accordingly. Persevere with patience and have Faith. God bless us all.
I have also asked the same question before. As years passed by, I learned to see my purpose: to live happily (together with my loved ones) and to do the right things for myself and for the society as a whole. These are the reasons why I go to work, sleep, eat, and live on this Earth. I work because I want to live the life I always wanted - to live with security and happiness. I sleep and eat because that's part of man's needs. It's just a part of the more important goal, which is to attain happiness.
We have different perspectives, but living on earth would become a meaningful one if we just know our purpose.
Why are we here? This is the greatest question for humans so far. I don't think any of us can give a clear answer. Evolutionists and creationists fight over and over again. What are we (am I) supposed to do? Originally, we are supposed to create peace, beauty, joy, harmony... and all other things like that, but so far, everything is getting worse and worse. Maybe better and better since today. Who knows the end!
Why ask, "why?" Just being here is purpose in itself. Don't complicate life any more than you have to. Of course, we wake up each day...if we didn't, we would not exist, and this question would be unnecessary. Yes, we need to work and sleep too. There is more...you just have to be open to enjoy life and look for the positive.
we are here on earth because god had planned on our lives and you have to do the right thing that you might do.You should pray and lend your self to him and he knows what to do God bless
the answer, the beginning of it is within you. I have learned and grown spiritually for so many years but at different pace and level, and direction. One thing I have noticed is that religion and other people can only express what they know or allow...not really who we are.
I was uneasy, sick of being someone else when I let the truth set me free. I love the whole Universe, but I can only be me, a better me, a best me but only me. That is where I am at ease, peaceful, loving, effective, generous... that is the best me. So, allow you to sink into you, meditate, observe quietly who you have been or what role you have played all your life, what you really love, what makes you a better person... actually being quiet and observing are basics, from there everyone is different. I find the world full of noises, commercials, ideologies, words... so many things, we need to step away from to really know who we are and what we want to do during our journey here on earth.
I hope I have been clear and helpful and I wish you peace love happiness and joy on this journey of discovery and LIFE.
The main purpose for our manifesting in the earth is for the glorification of God and not just for free thinking and individualism, though we each manifest according to our own purpose.
We're here to create something new and good to the world
we are on earth because God created us for purpose and we have to pursuit our purpose on earth. we were here on earth in order to show forth the glory and the praise of God here on earth. Also we are here on earth to change our generation for good.
God created you for special purpose and must release why you are here so that you can fulfill your destiny.
1. pray that God will grant you the spirit of wisdom that you may know the things that are freely given of you by God.

Earth rotates based on sun. Electron rotates on Necleus. Do you see the Sun, Earth and other may possibly a atomic structure for some living being like how we see the atomic structure of say for example an Iron piece.
No, not really. This image of the atomic structure is a schematic diagram that shows the energetic relationship between the different sub-atomic particles - it doesn't actually *look* like that!
How to find your life's path in 5 minutes:
Step 1 - Take 4 minutes and list every goal that you want to accomplish in your lifetime (e.g., be a great parent or spouse, learn another language, buy a 3,000 sq. ft. house, take a trip around the world, serve food at a soup kitchen on Thanksgiving, pay for your children's college, etc.).
Step 2 - After the 4 minutes is up, take 1 minute to look over your long list and choose the top three items that are the most important to you.
Step 3 - Hopefully this gives you insight on what matters most to you in your life. Dedicate your life towards being the best that you can at your top three items.
Humans first evolved on earth about 150,000 to 200,000 years ago.
But the story starts a long time before that - about 4.5 billion years ago, with an exploding star...debris from that star was drawn into the gravitational field of the Sun (also a star) and as it collided and consolidated it eventually formed planets. Our Earth is one of those. Initially a ball of hot gases and molten rock, it slowly cooled to form a hard crust about 7 miles deep.
At this stage we can turn to the Oparin-Haldane hypothesis. This proposes an early Earth with a reducing atmosphere in which lightning or ultraviolet radiation energised abiotic synthesis of simple organic molecules - amino acids and nitrogenous bases - which reacted to form organic macromolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids. This concept has been demonstrated to be likely in controlled laboratory experiments which replicate those early conditions.
Isolated by phospholipid membranes, these formed functional ‘protocells.’
On this hypothesis, it is reasonable to assume that ‘protocells’ relied on assimilating simple organic compounds such as amino acids, carbohydrates and lipids from the solution of organic molecules in the early ocean.
These simple cellular organisms evolved into bacteria such as cyanobacteria - the earliest fossilized life-form from Earth.
Cyanobacteria are chlorophyllic prokaryotes originating 2100 – 2500 Ma ago. Chlorophyll absorbs the energy of sunlight, driving photosynthesis, which produces free oxygen.
The early Earth was anaerobic. Photosynthesising cyanobacteria, coupled with the endosymbiosis of chloroplasts within eukaryotic cells, produced the acceleration in atmospheric O2 known as the ‘Oxygen Crisis.’
This drove the evolution of cellular respiration. Once eukaryotic populations of autotrophic, photosynthetic producers and heterotrophic, respiratory consumers were established in an aerobic environment, increased metabolic rates, genetic variation and predator/prey relationships led to the biological diversification known as the ‘Cambrian Explosion’ and became the engines of subsequent evolution by natural selection.
The rest has been a necessary biological consequence of that early chemical eventuality.
So that is why you are here. As to what you are supposed to do - supposed by whom? Purpose and meaning are human constructs. You're alive. What you make of that is up to you.
Good luck!
