Octember -
                  a month to remember!
The leaves are changing!
                                         It's a magical month!
Halloween is approaching.
I pay little attention to Halloween really.
I have to say
the days seem drearier than I can remember.
The closer to Halloween, the eerier things got!
People were meaner than in years!
I don't get out much or get news from the major media monopoly.
But as I was leaving for my bike ride on Wednesday, October 17, 2010 my eyes would open!
I began to see signs.
Bad signs.
No, really BAD signs!
The reason of so much discontent was rearing its ugly head!
There was no mistaking the insanity that was, undoubtedly, gripping the entire nation!
Never have such creatures been unleashed on this hemisphere!
The foulest beasts that can walk upright have been set free to prey on the America and no doubt, the world!
They walk erect!
They imitate humans.
No one doubts their messages.
No one checks their DNA!
They have sucked the blood out of millions!
BE AFRAID!
BE VERY AFRAID!
Music Most Listened To By Politicians!!!
OH MY GOD!
RUN! RUN! RUN!
For many, it is already too late as they go mad with
                                                                                    POLITICAL FEVER!!!
RUN! RUN! RUN!
Regardless, the day seemed to be shaping up beautifully!
As all the cyclists are gathering dutifully.
The guys and girls were gathering at the Union Grove Church,
And we're off, as on hard seats we perch.
David was looking good though he forgot to shave!
Can I rust these racers to behave?
Dodsons Crossroad was a charm.
Alan should have a cycling tattoo on his arm.
October 13, 2010 Tarwheels Bicycle Dairyland Road
You might temporarily mute that "Politician Music" to look at a bike ride.
Now- if I quit taking movies and pictures I may not get dropped!
If I take too many I'll be popped!
Right turn!
Soon, the legs will burn!
I began seeing bad signs again!
Terrible signs! Is this how we begin?
But what were the signs trying to say?
So many forebodings are on our way.
Dairyland was a breeze!
Perhaps we should stick together, please?
Was I the only rider seeing signs?
What is happening to our minds?
Howdy Tod!
(does Tod not see?
These visions that fly at me?)
Alan seemed to be in his usual state.
Is there more than a ride on our plate?
The sky was now beautiful and blue!
And I love the smell of cow poopoo.
Cows were cows but the horses were stirring!
But were the riders' visions blurring?
Another Alan! They all look alike! Especially today!
That's a pretty fast face even if gray!
Smiles were on faces,
as we were about to go to the races.
Wipe than grin of your face!
Are you from outer space?
Are you following me?
What do you expect to see?
A friends attacks a friend!
When does this madness end?
Finally! Finally! we make it to civilization!
Perhaps some recuperation instead of devestation!
We finally arrive at our favorite "haunt".
For this is our ride to Martinhos Restaurant.
Today we would invite a local politician to our cycling lunch.
But things aren't right! I have a hunch!
We saw him arrive but I can't remember him leaving!
Thing seem wrong! Is it all deceiving?
Oh well! Live and let live!
Be free to give!
Feel! Keep it real!
Invite a politician to a meal!
As we usually "eat better" and we ride to get thinner.
Never "let on" -
                            - that we have politicians for dinner!
Chocolate Milk - Sweet Heat
Funky Orange County? Say it's so!
It was a wet Wednesday as we're Union Groovin'!
The rain makes a small crowd.
There's a David and a Bruce on the loose!
Sallie turned it up a big notch getting into Saxapahaw! Flying Girl!
Some "die-hards" knew about the rain and came out anyway! Yeah!
Not many pictures can be taken in that rain though.
Our beautiful chef made chocolate "bakeless" cookies with almonds!
And many other treats!
Saxapahaw is a wonderful stop!
My Buddy Adam
Adam blew into town for the weekend and Friday we hiked Occonoleetchee State Park and had a beautiful view!
The top is like being on a big mountain.
I can't see my house but it's out there!
This is, indeed, a great place for a sunset!
Carlos Santana et Buddy Guy - Montreux Jazz Festival
Saturday, we ride over to Carrboro and join the A-Ride.
The seasonal "stand" has pumpkins and soon will have Christmas trees.
The barca-lounger is still fast!
We soon find we are out of league! Katie, Bruce, Tod, TJ, John, Jordan!
These folks can make a long day in a short amount of time!
Every hill can be excruciating with these folks!
Â
We all take a pull at the front.
There is some wind so it's really good to have cover with the group.
Adam goes back a couple decades with me.
The route is so pretty! We're lucky with the weather too.
It's near November and leaves are still sticking it out! The pace became fast enough that no more pictures were taken.
Adam and I limped back in the last few miles to Hillsborough.
With the trip over to Carrboro, Adam and I had a 53 mile day.
