My mechanic always recommends keeping the tires properly inflated!

Walk-if you can walk to work it is really good exercise. Use coupons at Canadian Tire. This is a hardware type store that gives out coupons that you can exchange for gas.

Don't jack on the accelerator everyone time you get a green light.  Ease into it a bit.

    a) use the bike whenever possible
    b) make a good on-route plan for all the places you have to go so that you minimize the distances you’ll drive and avoid going around in circles.

Do not turn on your air-conditioning. Just joking smile

I suggest to walk, if shop nearby instead of drive. This also save you from faster turnaround time for car servicing cycle. Also not to accelerate hard if you not rushing.

Well, I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but I would have to say that I could save a LOT of money on gas by making my son get a job and pay for his own!  I made the mistake of telling him I'd help him while he was in college, but I had no idea that meant totally support everything he does! :-)

Go easy on the gas pedal. No jack rabbit starts and if you can coast into stops signs instead of speeding up to them and braking hard. Don't drive over the speed limit.

I recently wrote an article on how to save money by buying generic. Off-brand gas stations often have much lower prices, and the gas is virtually the exact same as those from the big names.

I have written a hub about a lot of different ways to save gas.  The single most important method to save on gas in my opinion is carpooling.  There are websites that show the nearest carpool system across the United States.  It is tip number 6 on my hub.
