How much snow did you get?
We just got 5 inches here in this neck of the woods.
none, we got a thin sheet of ice
I live down near Birmingham, AL
We beat you. We have 5 and 1/4 inches of snow so far, and it's still coming down around here in these parts.
Am watching WVU basketball now. (Yay!) Guess there's no snow in Morgantown.
I guess that would depend on where you are at in West Virginia.
So far here at our house in MD, we've gotten about six inches, and it's still falling!
We ended up with 3-4 here in Kentucky Black ice all over last night.
Absolutely none! We don't get snow very often in the south-west of England, though the south-east get a fair amount now and then.
The Midlands and North of England get some every winter, often severe, and Scotland gets quite a bit each year, depending on the region.
I love snow when I don't have to travel. It's so pretty when the sky is blue and the sun shines. When it's actually snowing, there's an amazing hush when even the birds are still and just watching, isn't there? Magical!
Hope no one is suffering because of it over in the US though.
Happy New Year to all!
Ann
Suddenly it's got colder here and snow is forecast for the weekend, not far from here but not here, as ever; I'm a little disappointed!
With day 6 of the great East Coast snow storm now upon us, the children are returning to school today & we have the great melt down underway here now. With the temperatures to be above freezing for the next 2 weeks it's goodbye snow!
3-4" in our immediate area, more like 3" on our property. Have been having a party with it today, though as it came in last night we were all just enjoying the quiet loveliness.
Snowflakes falling, swirling whirling,
Whipping wind building big drifts,
Children sledding, dancing, whirling,
Soon to sleep each one will drift!
Soundly, quietly, dreams awhirling,
Laughter ringing in sleep's drifts.
Happy New Year everyone!
Believe it or not , only a week after the great East coast snow storm with the exception of a few little piles of snow left behind by some snow plows, all of the snow has now melted away and is gone.
After a week the snow is now all gone from here too, and the temperatures are almost in the 70's. This really doesn't make any sense.
We got somewhere between 6 and 8 inches of snow today. Since it seems like folks are writing poetry along with this question here's a Winter Time Haiku for the occasion -
Snow falls quietly
Covering the mountaintop
It is beautiful
We got a tiny bit of ice, but no snow over where I live in Southern Louisiana. (Plenty of cold though, despite the lack of snow.)
2 - 3 inches in my place ... hoping for some more, waiting for real winter fun
With day three of the great east coast snow storm upon us now. Schools and businesses are closed, bread & milk are void on the store shelves, Children are everywhere playing in the snow, and Halloween pumpkins everywhere are frozen solid. What's happening where you live?
Don't forget that they also cleared all of the eggs, hamburger meat, and frozen pizza off of the shelves too.
It'll take days to get all of these shelves stocked back up. On another note there was no snow when the Mighty Clemson Tigers won the 2017 National Championship game against Alabama 35 - 31. Congratulations!
With the big thaw underway here on the east coast the shelves in the grocery stores are starting to fill back up again.
Unfortunately along with the big thaw of the great East Coast snow storm my poor Halloween pumpkin is starting to droop and get a bit on the mushy side.
There is snow on many of the hill stations in northern India. It is quite thick in Kashmir and Shimla. I am staying at about 25 kms away from the nearest hill station having snow named Mussorrie. Unfortunately, there was 10 kms long jam of vehicles. So could not venture. I wish I could join.
srsddn, A 10 kilometer long back up of vehicles is a super big problem all in it's own. WOW!!

HELP!Okay, I'm over the depressing weather in Porland, OR. I've had my last winter here, I really have. Which is so sad because there's so much we love here- the mountains, ocean, trees, desert, the open-minded attitude and our awesome friends. But, the weather sucks. I miss snow,...
