In the news today, CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin wants all kids banned from first-class flights because of crying and noise. Thoughts...

If you can't stand some crying, take the train. Or drive.  Or walk.  Or buy your own plane and don't let anyone on that you don't like.

Sorkin does not own the airways OR the airlines.

Perhaps they should be treated as pets and consigned to the hold - pressurized, of course.

I agree with Wilderness. We were all children once and were probably badly behaved at times. If people want to pay extra for a first-class plane ticket, they should keep this possibility in mind. It would be very unfair to ban people with children from first class when those children might be well behaved during the flight.

I agree with Alicia and wilderness. There are plenty of devices available these days so that adults can zone out if there are noisy children nearby. Maybe Sorkin should invest in a decent set of headphones or even a VR set. Let children be children wherever they are. Was Sorkin always immaculately behaved when he was a child I wonder? If you ban children from 1st class, you deprive other passengers of some great entertainment. Children can come out with the cutest and funniest comments sometimes. They can be a great tonic and distraction for nervous passengers too. On our first flight the plane hit some turbulence. My 3year old brother thought it was great fun as he was bounced around in his seat. My mother always said that it helped the nervous passengers sitting nearby.

I remember I was flying with my daughter who was very active and noisy. I was tired and didn't have the patience to keep her entertained. A nice woman sitting with us said she just became a grandmother and would like to spend time with my daughter to help practice being a grandmother. I was so grateful. My daughter calmed down and enjoyed the flight. The two became the best of friends for five hours.
