   Take deep breaths and remind yourself that there is no obligation for you to respond.  You can't change their opinion  This is especially true if the opinion is well written.  in such cases, that opinion represents a very long period of polishing.  Besides, this is a writers web site.  We are not about censorship, the staff have to worry about that.  If the argument is well written it is but for us to applaud the work and move on. .

   I would post a comment explaining myself and my disagreement making sure to be as respectful to the author as I could be. Everyone is entitled to their opinion so what else could I do except to possibly write my own hub on the topic.

   As calmly as possible, by first trying to find a compliment, i.e. well written, informative, etc. Then voice my disagreement and why I disagree. However, if the exchange continues, then you have the problem of keeping the discussion on point and not letting it drift in another direction.

   It depends on the subject matter.  If it's purely a political position or opinion on some controversial matter, I usually won't bother to say anything.  If it is something that is factually incorrect I might comment if I have time to provide sources to the contrary.  I rarely like to dabble in heated debates for I just don't have the time to devote to pleading my case properly.  Whenever I do comment I really try to validate/re-state the opposing argument to make sure that they know I actually read their work.

   I make my arguments that support why I disagree with the points in the hub.
   Arguments in the sense of making a point.
   
   That is why there is a comment section of the hub. The comments can also be for agreement, and accolades, but contrasting opinion gives better feedback.

   I will normally voice my opinion in the comments area. I am always respectful of the author, after all that is there hub and therefor you are on their territory. Hopefully the author will see the value in your opinion and view your comment as an opportunity to start a debate instead of viewing it as an attack on their hub.

   I don't normally confront people directly here on HubPages since this format doesn't really lend itself to debate as much.  The Q&A and forum sections might lend itself to debate, but HubPages as a whole doesn't seem structured that way. 
   
   As far as I know I don't think you can post a hub directly in response to another Hub like you could post video responses on YouTube.  I am still new here so I am not one hundred percent sure.  I have posted a Hub as an answer to a question once when I saw that a lot of the other answers were shallow and they were irritating me because I felt that they were answers that had no basis in any facts or sound reasoning.  I ended up writing a pretty passionate hub, but I revised it later once I cooled down in order to give it a more professional and objective tone.  That Hub 'till this day is my most read Hub.

    Express your opinion, but remember that hubs are ways for people to express themselves, their opinions, views and dreams.  Maybe write a hub in response
