What are your principles in life?
I hardly met a man or woman who holds strong principles (if they have any) and live by them. I'd like to think that you have some. What are they? Name at least 3...
#1 is honesty - to the point of stupidity.#2 Expecting the other person to treat me the way I would treat themb (naive), #3 The eternal optimist!
As you wish....
#1 - Not to be judgmental.
#2 - To be happy in whatever situation in life.
#3 - Forgive and forget to embrace life and all as it comes.
What is your principal may I know plz?
Attitude plays an important role to be happy in whatever circumstances you are at. #3 is good but not that easy to follow...guess only time can help one forgives and forget!
Mine? Not enough space here...I might make a hub out of this question.
To take this funny thing called my life as far as I can possibly take it.. for what else is there to do?
-this alone encompasses all of my principles.-
Note: Try not to bother yourself in trying to find 'strong' principles in others. As you stated, you will rarely find anyone who has truly lived enough to even be on such a personal level with themselves to remain unchanged throughout their time here. Most skate by and accept the 'fluid' dogma of the 'civilized existence' and thus change their minds almost automatically with it.
'Live and let live? Strong' may not be but at least principles that are similar to mine. That's how any kind of relationship is built...for me!
In the above question I sense that the questioner is asking us to define our life philosophy as to 'how' we should live it not necessarily how we actually 'do' live it. For example, the main principle in many lives is that profound biblical one, "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you." Treat others as you would like to be treated is the more modern way of saying the same thing.
We know how we should behave. But we are not perfect to the point where we always live up to this ideal.
It is said that an ideal is different from an idea. One can form a goal and go after it from an idea. However, an ideal is something which can never be reached, only reached for.
For me, my principle -singular - is to treat others as I would like to be treated. But like so many others, I do tend to fall short.
Exactly! We tend to fall short no matter how we try because we are bound by emotions/psychology but at least we try to live by this principle. If only each and everyone of us does this.
Strive to live to the best of my abilities and try to encourage my students to do so as well.....to find my balance in life and help others to find it as well in my voluntary counselling work....be grateful for everything the life throws at me and teach my children to live with grace, respect, humility and honesty....I know I can not change the world but I can at least try to influence people around me....

'Treat others the way you wish to be treated'? A fundamental rule to life?Widely referred to as the 'Golden Rule' Should we all live by this rule? Could this make an individual a better person?I'd love to hear others opinions. Thank you!

How many know the "Golden Rule"?What does it truly mean?Do you try to live your life by those words? How many grew up being told to "do onto others as you would do to yourself? Do we try to live by those words in today's society or is it all about "me"? And if you do try to...

What do you believe is YOUR purpose in Life?If you cling to the belief that each and every one of us has a Master Purpose in life, WHAT do you feel is your purpose? Do you believe you have or will fullfill your purpose in your lifetime?

So my hub family, I need some feedback on how do you live by this when dealing with someone who does not live by this motto? How do you treat someone kind and loving when in return they don't treat you the same.

I was recently studying Mark 12:28-31 which calls us to Love God with our whole being, AND ALSO to love our fellow man "as ourself". How can someone who does NOT love themselves (low self esteem) treat others well? SIMILAR ISSUE: Can we be both humble and also have enough love for...
