What percentage of hubs make money?

   Based on what the people with hundreds of hubs who are earning hundreds of dollars/month are saying, it seem that people make in the range of $0.50-$3.00 per hub per month. My question is, how is that distributed? Does each hub make a little money? Or does some small percentage of the hubs make most of the money, with the rest making very little?

   How my earnings occur varies across the course of a calendar year.  However, from all the stats, the classic bell curve does appear.  A small percentage of my Hubs earn higher than the majority of them, a large amount of my Hubs have moderate earnings equivalent to a lot of the other Hubs, and a small percentage of them don't earn much compared to the rest.

   Relache replied with a statement I would agree upon.  I have been on hubpages for only a few months but it seems that the some hubs make a bit more money then the majority, while some bring in a moderate amount and some hardly any.  If a hub is entertaining, attention grabbing, and gives out good information, it is likely to get a higher amount of traffic which can translate into higher profits.

   I would say it depends on how much traffic your hubs are getting and if the topic you are writing about is something that is searched for in the search engines, you could have a large amount of hubs but the earnings in my opinion is not distributed evenly through all the hubs, so if someone only has 20 hubs and another person has 200 hubs the percentage of earnings is going to depend on which hubs get the greatest amount of traffic and if that traffic converts into sales of amazon, adsense, ebay and kontera.

   There are 3 factors influencing AdSense money earned by a hub:
   1. traffic
   2. Rate of clicks known as CTR
   3. Value of keywords
   
   I find high traffic hubs tend to have lower click rate (ie 1% or less) and lower value keywords.  Good examples would be glamour picture hubs or entertainment stuff.  One the other hand, I have some hubs with low traffic but CTR of around 10% and relatively high value clicks.  These are specialist niche subjects 
   
   If you could get all 3 high you would be rich but in practice there is always a trade off!

      Also Rik Ravado has rightly said that it also depend on what type of hub you have hosted. Glamour content have low CTR some niche topics whose CTR is higher.

   I guess 20% of all hubs making 80% of profits. The golden rule! Within my account one single hub is responsible for 25% earnings out of 30 hubs. But I spent an eternity promoting it.

   I imagine it depends.
   
   Some of my hubs have never earned a single penny.
   
   Some make a steady few cents a day, and have done since published.
   
   Others have gained traffic at particular times of year - for example, I wrote two Easter related hubs about 2 months ago, and for the last 2-3 weeks they've been earning dollars per day between them, but that will obviously tail off now.

    It depends. You can get awesome income through ebay or amazon but for steady income adsense is great.

    I've been using Amazon and AdSense since I started and Adsense pays every day now(5-20 clicks). But Amazon is very hit and miss.  I made nothing on Amazon for nearly a year.  Remember that on Amazon and Ebay clicks don't pay - only purchases.  Then I made over $50 from a single sale (a wood burning stove). 
    I started Ebay a few months ago but have made nothing yet.  My advice would be when you are starting out put your efforts primarily into AdSense.

    Adsense is so hit and miss, one day you get a few cent clicks then one day a click of almost 2 dollars. Still it's that guessing that keeps us going.

       I back you up on this and agree because some days I am making just 0.03 cents and other days I am making around 3 dollars. I am new at hubpages but not new at adsense.

    I find Health pays well but pick something that gets loads of reads. No point having a high paying niche if you have no traffic.

       I have also heard that Health topics pay well. My dad has a seizure site that where one some days he'll get just 1 click but have revenue of over $1. But, like you said, if you don't have traffic you won't get the revenue you could potentially get.
       
       Otherwise, as mentioned some hubs will get low earnings, whereas some hubs may get awesome earnings. So, if you have 100 low earners then you just won't do as well as say 50 top earners. It really all depends on topic and traffic (and what kind of traffic- IE 1000s of SU hits probably won't convert to anything in terms of earnings).

    My joke site had loads of hits but it only got clicks of 1-7 cents but it was consistent and didn't take a lot of effort but you have to have a passion as well for what you write about. Ok we all want a bit of money but if like me you enjoy writing you want to write about stuff you enjoy.

    I have been at hubpages for 3 months now, has made $20 with adsense:P and 2 amazon sales is that pretty miserable or average, I may have to give writing sexy hubs a go , I hear they get great traffic:)

          Look I have been writing online since 2001 and have given up 3 times just as I was about to hit that point when adsense kicks in. You will not make steady money from adsense until 2 years, if you dont have the patience for the long haul then quit. Fact is I have seen some websites that are 5 years old that are in my words pure crap but because of their age and number of posts they earn money. Ok you hear of the guy who is making 300 dollars within 3 months but it wont stay steady over years, that is my view anyway and having made friends online over 8 years I do know that 2 years is what you have to be prepared to put into promoting yourself.
