Does anyone have much experience with Uber?

I reluctantly created a myspace page, but I get so much spam it's barely worth the trouble, and at 34 I'm way tooooo old for facebook apparently (and so I'm told), but Uber seems like the real deal.  The pages are sleek and the options, though somewhat limited for now, are not bad at all.

    Any Uber fans out there?

I'm on facebook, no problems. Don't like myspace though. More adults are joining facebook.

Thanks, Patty.  I may just do both and see what happens.

I don't think you're too old for Facebook.  Seems like the age range is between 18-40... Chances are you'll have friends from more then one age category.   Plus you'll be able to join groups that you're interested in.... age doesn't matter if you're interested in snowboarding (for example).

    Never used Uber though.

My personal observation among my social circles is that that the 30-somethings and 40-somethings are throwing sheep at one another with gay abandon on Facebook. You know a trend is peaking when people who barely use email are talking about Facebook at dinner parties.

I had one friend (a 40-something) leave in protest last year when they started allowing advertising and letting companies create Facebook pages and start fan clubs for their products. I imagine this response will be even more pronounced in younger age groups.

So I'd say there's a shake-out in progress, and the average age is probably rising.

Well... I've been using both myspace (I hate) and facebook (I love) for years.... and the ads and fan pages are definitely not causing a stir among college students. In fact I haven't heard a single complaint... There have been a couple things that have bothered students.

      1. Opening facebook to people beyond those in college.
      2. The first time they introduced news feeds (I liked it but A LOT of other people didn't at first)
      3. A lot of people don't like the third party applications...

But all that said most still love Facebook, including me. One things for sure... Its FAR better than myspace.

There are a number of groups on Facebook such as "I know I'm too old for Facebook but..".  Personally I've joined several over-50 groups!  Mind you, I still fail to see the point of the site.  I'm not really interested in poking people or throwing sheep at them.

Its nice to keep in touch with people. and there are about 100 billion applications by now so I'm sure if you look you can find something you like... also when you ad an application you don't have to add it to your profile so it doesn't get insanely packed with useless boxes... thats what i tend to do.

I find the Facebook way of keeping in touch less effective than forums, email and the old-fashioned telephone!  Yes, there are 100 billion applications but they're all about games, pretty pictures or quizes.  Who cares?

Idk I think that Facebook is the most innovative website out there... especially in the social networking area. Sure it doesn't replace real human contact but its still fun. Also I really would encourage you to look around those applications... there are some very good ones. Even useful ones.

Believe me, I have spent a fair bit of time looking through the applications.  Yes, a lot of them are fun - for about 5 minutes.  I have yet to find any that are more fun than the alternatives I have in the real world!  And as for useful...you could have fooled me.

You have to take into account that I like having real live people around me, so spending a lot of time online is not really my thing.

I can definitely understand your position on facebook. But I still love it... One example of a useful application is my screen saver... it takes pictures randomly from all my friends and displays them like a slidshow... I enjoy it. But theres also free file space apps and the marketplace... not to mention some truly interesting analyzers.

I too love the real world but alas my passion in life keeps me tied to the computer sometimes and Facebook helps pass the time while I print.

Not to mention my closest friends in the world are scattered all over the world. That's what happens when you're an avid traveler living all over so Facebook lets me keep in touch with them and see photos and read their notes etc....

You're right that it's always better in person but sometimes that's not an option. smile

Yes, Misha!  I'm like Jenny - I accepted all the invitations for a while, then I just got bored with the whole thing and deleted most of them.

I know what you mean, Marisa.

I caved in when someone sent me fish for my aquarium, but after a while it got boring. I think they have probably starved to death by now.

I wonder if there is some electronic karma heading my way as a result of neglecting my electronic fish to their deaths?

Yes, I Rachelle am a Facebook nerd. I've had lotsa fun keeping up with friends and throwing sheep at people. Finding lost friends is the best part.

And Misha: My zombie would eat your slayer for breakfast! Lol

And I couldn't agree more....some of those applications are downright addictive. You can never have too much silly fun in life....it's just too short.

    Long live Facebook!

Okay, so I'm guess nobody has used Uber?  And Facebook gets a thumbs up, cool.
