How long does one wait to know if the prayer was answered? If that prayer was not answered how do we know that something else was answered instead? What is the power of prayer if we don't have clear answers?

The reason people do not have clear answers is because they expect "inst-miracle".
Prayer has become a to-do list for Creator, who seems to be humanities beck and call.
But prayer is designed for communication, not a "Thanks for the blessings of this, this and this; gotta run; love ya; your the Best!" bedtime quickie.

In each is the Seed to produce a harvest of every need, be it health, wisdom, joy, etc. The material world is void of answer because money, jobs, cars, etc are man-made things.

Making that seed grow requires practical faith -from start to finish, and even after, when the harvest is brought in.
Creator built into you everything you need for {pertaining to} Immortal Living and Correct Thinking. And is there to assist in times of need -meaning when you begin to put your ego and fear {weeds} in place of good seed. He will even help bring in the harvest -which is beyond your ability to store, because of its massiveness....

      James.

James, my guess is that the audience here does not have the receiver set to your frequency. You are speaking truth in an uncommon language.

Sadly, Sir, you might be correct.
After very long discussion(s) in other threads, here alone, it is becoming apparent.
But why? Perhaps it is the way I am explaining things. Must work on my folksonomy.

Good to see you btw. Hope all is..
          James.

I my view, you are doing nothing wrong. I would pitch in except you are saying all that needs to be said. Sometimes the student is not yet ready. Keep doing your work; you are reaching those who are indeed ready.

"Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord." - Psalm 27:14.

Don't be impatient with God, you'll get answers soon enough. Don't think you'll win the lotto and save the world though, sorry. But praying for the Holy Spirit to help you witness to people is a prayer that I find is always answered.

Oh, yes they are, as I know personally of countless of prayers, well really all prayers were answered, whether right away, whether by a "no," whether by a "yes."  I believe, as a Christian, that when we pray, He knows our heart, and so He knows whether we have any doubt that He hears and He can heal, etc.  Faith plays a big part in the answer of prayer according to His Word.  Plus, one must be right with God before praying, that being repent of your sins, so that there is no barrier between you and God, just straight communication.  I have been healed from cancer by the power of prayer in Jesus' name.  I really just praise Him for what He has done when I pray and then ask Him whatever after praising Him first and foremost and thanking Him in advance for healing or whatever the issue at hand.

"Are our Prayers really listened too?"

No. They are not. People who pray are talking to an imaginary friend. Such activity on a regular basis is a form of mental illness. Sorry, but that is the way it is.

paradigmsearch I  could write a book about how my prayers have been anwered but it would be impossable to complete because of all my prayers that are answered every day.

Just because prayers are not answered when you want them to be does  not mean that they are not going to be answered. God answers prayer when He wants on His time table not ours. Do not be a doubting Thomas. He will answer prayers. Besides our prayers should not be just about our self but other things. What about our country and the way that it is going? Our country, no our nation is going away from God. It is more depended on man and his laws then the Lords laws. Our nation could be the mother of all again if we would stop turning our backs on God. He is the Creator of All Things above and below. There is nothing that He does not see or hear.

Exactly, His timing is perfect.  His ways are not our ways.

We merely need look at the unanswered prayers for food of the tens of thousands of innocent children who die every day of starvation.

His ways are not our ways, because we try to feed them.

      lol lol lol

Over 1 Billion metric tons of grains {maize, wheats, soy, rice}, vegetation and slaughtered animals is not enough food for the starving children on a planet of 6 billion? hmm. Let's see, 6B divided by 1B = 1.5M metric tons per person.
Yup, can definitely see the "shortage" there -not!
But, it does not appear you suffer from a lack of food. Why is that fella?
Could this "shortage" of food also be due in part to humans using food for fuels or for animal fodder or to push human agenda and stock prices, leave it to rot in the field. And a quarter of the worlds freshwater supply used to water lawns, fill pools, cool turbine generators which produce electricity, etc. Nah, can't possibly be...

Isn't it 1 billion tons divided by 7 billion people? Where did you get your numbers?

Because prayers or praying don't dictate my life, reality does.

That's America for you, 81% Christian, who claims their prayers have been answered.

If you pay close attention to James' point in many of his posts, he is saying that the opposite is true. Your life, as a conduit for the thoughts you hold in your mind with the greatest frequency and intensity, creates your reality.

This notion is not commonly taught in our modern society, but it is an idea that has been presented many times throughout the ages. Persian poet Rumi, the Bhudda, Xiang Tuo, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Thomas Troward, all proposed the idea in some form. Many teachers of the philosophy emerged in the United States circa 1900 as the Tracendentalist or New Thought movement.

Listen to James with an open mind and a little patience. He ideas will keep you busy for quite some time if you seriously consider them.
