Same sex marriage in England and Scotland imminent.

    England has drawn up legislation that would allow for same sex marriages, the second reading of the bill passed with 400 votes to 175, Scotland has announced similar legislation, it has been a long struggle but the world is changing quickly now.

      It is about time.   Same sex marriage is going to be commonplace in about 30 years.   The time where same sex marriage is an anathema is slowly but surely becoming a thing of the past.

    Marriage equality is also imminent in New Zealand.  The bill just passed its second reading.

      It's equality because it means gay people and straight people will have the same rights under the law as is required by any just legal system.

      I understand that most who have never experienced what is is like to be discriminated against by the law of your country are incapable of understanding why it is important, they are too sheltered from that reality.

      Because gay marriages are made equal to straight ones under the law.  That is literally what the new bill is called in NZ, and what it does. I don't see any problem with using that phrase, buzzword or not.
